The Threat Remains
The Right Thing
Cassandra is wailing on a training dummy with a sword when the PC approaches.
Cassandra: (Disgusted noise.)
Dialogue options:
- Flirt: You’re impressive. [1]
+ Cassandra Slightly Approves - General: Are you alright? [2]
- General: You need stronger dummies. [3]
+Cassandra Slightly Approves - General: Was that supposed to be me? [4]
1 - Flirt: You’re impressive.
PC: You’re kind of a force of nature aren’t you.
Cassandra: When I need to be.
PC: It’s impressive.
Cassandra: You flatter me.
PC: I’m trying. [5]
2 - General: Are you alright?
PC: Worried?
Cassandra: Is it that obvious?
PC: I’m afraid so. [5]
3 - General: You need stronger dummies.
PC: I think you need practice dummies made of sturdier stuff.
Cassandra: That would be nice.
PC: Like maybe iron. [5]
4 - General: Was that supposed to be me?
PC: I hope that wasn’t meant to be me.
Cassandra: What, that?
PC: You obviously don’t like somebody. [5]
5 - Scene continues.
Cassandra sheathes her sword and walks beside the PC.
Cassandra: Did I do the right thing? What I have set in motion here could destroy everything I have revered my whole life. One day, they might write about me as a traitor, a madwoman, a fool. And they may be right.
6 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: What do you believe? [7]
- Investigate: What happens next? [9]
- General: It was foolish. [10]
- Cassandra Disapproves - General: You had to do it. [11]
- General: It’s too late to turn back. [12]
7 - Investigate: What do you believe?
PC: What does your faith tell you?
Cassandra: I believe you are innocent. I believe more is going on here than we can see. And I believe no one else cares to do anything about it. They will stand in the fire and complain that it is hot. But is this the Maker’s will? I can only guess.
Dialogue Options:
- Special: You don’t think I’m chosen? [8]
- Other options [Back to 6]
8 - Special: You don’t think I’m chosen?
PC: You don’t think I’m the Herald of Andraste?
Cassandra: I think you were sent to help us. I hope you were. But the Maker’s help takes many forms. Sometimes it’s difficult to discern who it truly benefits, or how.
[Back to 6]
9 - Investigate: What happens next?
PC: What’s going to happen now?
Cassandra: Now we deal with the Chantry’s panic over you before they do even more harm. Then we close the Breach. We are the only ones who can. After that, we find out who is responsible for this chaos, and we end them. And if there are consequences to be paid for what I have done, I pay them. I only pray the price is not too high.
[Back to 6]
10 - General: It was foolish.
PC: This Inquisition of yours was not the smartest move.
Cassandra: Thank you for the ringing endorsement. [13]
11 - General: You had to do it.
PC: You didn’t have any choice.
Cassandra: Didn’t I? [13]
12 - General: It’s too late to turn back.
PC: Isn’t it a bit late to worry about it now?
Cassandra: We have only just begun. [13]
13 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: My trainers always said, ‘Cassandra you are too brash. You must think before you act.’ I see what must be done and I do it! I see no point in running around in circles like a dog chasing its tail. But I misjudged you in the beginning, did I not? I thought the answer was before me, clear as day. I cannot afford to be so careless again.
Dialogue options:
- You had cause. [14]
+ Cassandra approves - Glad to hear it. [15]
+ Cassandra slightly approves. - No, you can’t. [16]
- Cassandra slightly disapproves
14 - You had cause.
PC: It wasn’t like you had no reason to suspect me.
Cassandra: I was determined to have someone answer for what happened. Anyone. [17]
15 - Glad to hear it.
PC: Can’t say I’m not grateful to hear that.
Cassandra: I can be harsh, I know. [17]
16 - No, you can’t.
PC: There is a lot at stake.
Cassandra: You do not have to tell me that. [17]
17 - Scene continues.
Cassandra (if PC claimed Andrastian and chosen): You’ve said you believe you’re chosen. Does that mean… you believe in the Maker?
Cassandra (if PC claimed not chosen): You’ve said you don’t believe you’re chosen. Does that mean… you also don’t believe in the Maker?
Cassandra (if PC has not committed to chosen or not): I’m curious. Do you even believe in the Maker?
Dialogue options:
- General (claimed chosen): Yes. [18]
+ Cassandra approves - General (claimed not-chosen, Adrastian PC): I do believe [19]
\ + Cassandra approves - General (claimed chosen): No. [20]
- Cassandra disapproves - General (claimed not-chosen, non-Adrastian PC): That’s correct. [21]
\ - Cassandra disapproves - General: I don’t know [22]
- Dalish: I believe in elven gods. [23]
- Dwarf: I’m a dwarf, remember? [24]
- Qunari: I’m a Qunari, remember? [25]
[This stuff with religion lock-in status is very confusing and generally unclear, especially if the PC never makes a claim for or against the Maker. It’s a pretty vague value in options presented down the line. Sorry for inaccuracies!]
18 - General: Yes.
PC: I believe He exists.
Cassandra: That’s… comforting. Surely the Maker put us both on this path for a reason. Now it simply remains to see where it leads us. [26]
19 - General: I do believe.
PC: I believe He exists.
Cassandra: You do? I’m surprised, but… I suppose it’s comforting. Surely the Maker put us both on this path for a reason. Now it simply remains to see where it leads us. [26]
20 - General: No.
PC: No, I don’t.
Cassandra: I suppose I should not be surprised. I have to believe we were put on this path for a reason, even if you do not. Now it simply remains to see where it leads us. [26]
21 - General: That’s correct.
PC: No, I don’t.
Cassandra: It must be comforting to be so certain. I have to believe we were put on this path for a reason, even if you do not. Now it simply remains to see where it leads us. [26]
22 - General: I don’t know.
PC: I can’t really say.
Cassandra: I suppose it doesn’t really matter now. I have to believe we were put on this path for a reason, even if you do not. Now it simply remains to see where it leads us. [26]
23 - Dalish: I believe in elven gods.
PC: I’m Dalish. I believe in our own gods.
Cassandra: And there’s no room among your gods for one more? I suppose it doesn’t matter now. I have to believe we were put on this path for a reason, even if you do not. Now it simply remains to see where it leads us. [26]
24 - Dwarf: I’m a dwarf, remember?
PC: You’re asking a dwarf?
Cassandra: You’re a surface dwarf. I’ve known some, like Varric, who… I suppose it doesn’t matter now. I have to believe we were put on this path for a reason, even if you do not. Now it simply remains to see where it leads us. [26]
25 - Qunari: I’m a Qunari, remember?
PC: You’re asking me?
Cassandra: You’re not a follower if the Qun. You could be… I suppose it doesn’t matter now. I have to believe we were put on this path for a reason, even if you do not. Now it simply remains to see where it leads us. [26]
26 - Scene ends.
Champions of the Just/In Hushed Whispers
Deal. With. It.
Choice dependent dialogue:
- Completed In Hushed Whispers [1]
- Completed Champions of the Just [2]
1 - Completed In Hushed Whispers:
The PC approaches Cassandra, who is speaking with a mage.
Mage: And what are we supposed to do, exactly?
Cassandra: What you always do: complain.
(Mages allied)
Mage: We’ve already spoken with Commander Cullen. No one listens. We want better quarters. We want the templars kept at a distance, and some respect for—
Cassandra: This is not the Circle. You mages are our allies, not our wards. Act like it.
(Mages conscripted)
Mage: We’ve already spoken with Commander Cullen. No one listens. We’ve been split up, regardless of our colleges, forced into quarters so small that
Cassandra: This is not the Circle. You have been conscripted into the Inquisition, like any solider.
Mage: How are we supposed to—
Cassandra: Deal. With. It.
The mage leaves. [3]
2 - Completed Champions of the Just:
The PC approaches Cassandra, who is speaking with a mage.
Templar: Something must be done. Immediately.
Cassandra: Nothing will be done.
Templar: Commander Cullen said the same thing. It’s an outrage! There are mages here we know are guilty of heinous crimes! You would let that pass?
Cassandra (templars allied): Yes. As will you. We are not here to coddle the Order. You are an ally—act like one.
Cassandra (templars conscripted): Yes. As will you. Yes. As will you. This is the Inquisition, and you are not guests here.
Templar: How are we supposed to—
Cassandra: Deal. With. It.
The templar leaves. [3]
3 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: It never ends, evidently.
Dialogue options:
- General: Is there a problem? [4]
- General: That’s the truth. [5]
- General: Arguing just makes them worse. [6]
4 - General: Is there a problem?
PC: Is there an issue with the [mages/templars]? Can I help? [7]
5 - General: That’s the truth.
PC: You don’t need to tell me that.
Cassandra: I just don’t know who told them I’m the one to yell at.
PC: Is it that bad? [7]
6 - General: Arguing just makes them worse.
PC: Fighting with them will only make them more stubborn. [7]
7 - Scene continues.
Cassandra (mages allied): The mages are here as equals. They need to get used to what that means. It is your doing, after all. You created this alliance.
Cassandra (mages conscripted): The mages are too accustomed to running or being kept prisoner. It’s not easy for them. It is your doing, after all. You’re the one who conscripted them.
Cassandra (templars allied): The templars need to learn they have other uses than hunting mages. It’s not easy for them. It is your doing, after all. You created this alliance.
Cassandra (templars conscripted): The templars are too accustomed to having their way. They need to learn. It is your doing, after all. You’re the one who conscripted them.
Dialogue options:
-
General: I hope it will work out.
PC: Well, I hope it works. What other choice do we have? -
General: I did my best.
PC: I had to think on my feet, and I did what I could. -
General: You’re blaming me?
PC: You would have done differently, I suppose?
Cassandra: Oh. I do sound like I’m blaming you, don’t I? I don’t disapprove. In fact, you did well. You made a decision when it needed to be made. And here we are. I wish I could say this was my doing.
Dialogue options:
- Flirt: Flatterer. [8]
- General: You got us here. [9]
- General: I am pretty clever. [10]
- General: Just remember that. [11]
8 - Flirt: Flatterer.
PC: You’re flattering me!
Cassandra: I’m not! This always happens. Nobody ever takes my meaning…
PC: (Laughs.) You should see your face.
Cassandra: I’m thinking less flattering things now.
PC: (Laughs.)
Cassandra: (Sighs.) Let’s hope the Breach has your sense of humor. [12]
9 - General: You got us here.
PC: We wouldn’t be here at all if you hadn’t stood up against the Chantry.
Cassandra: You’re being kind.
PC: You’re discounting your role in this.
Cassandra: Let’s close the Breach. Then we can say how successful I was. [12]
10 - General: I am pretty clever.
PC: I am rather clever, aren’t I?
Cassandra: Close the Breach. Then I’ll agree with you. [12]
11 - General: Just remember that.
PC: Just remember that after the Breach is closed.
Cassandra: I will not forget. Though I cannot speak for others. [12]
12 - Scene ends.
From the Ashes
I Should Have Known
The PC approaches Cassandra at Skyhold.
Cassandra: Have you met this “friend” of Varric’s, Inquisitor?
PC: Not yet, no.
Cassandra: It had better not be who I think it is. I will wring that little bastard’s neck.
PC: Why? Who do you think it is?
Cassandra: Someone Varric claimed he could not contact. Someone the Inquisition—indeed, all of Thedas—desperately needed. I’ll reserve judgment until I know for certain. No need to have that rogue screaming “persecution” yet again.
After the PC meets Hawke, they come upon Cassandra chasing Varric around a table in the upper floor of the armory.
Cassandra: You knew where Hawke was all along!
Varric: You’re damned right I did!
Cassandra: You conniving little shit!
Cassandra swings at him but he ducks out of the way and runs to the other side of the table.
Varric: You kidnapped me! You interrogated me! What did you expect?
Dialogue options:
- General: [Intervene.] [1]
- Varric approves
- General: [Stay out of it.] [2]
- Varric disapproves
1 - General: [Intervene.]
PC: Hey! Enough!
Cassandra: You’re taking his side?
PC: I said enough! [3]
2 - General: [Stay out of it.]
The PC crosses their arms and shakes their head. They remain silent.
Cassandra: I expected you to tell the truth! I told you what was at stake!
Varric: So I’d just hand [them] over on your say so? “It’s okay, Hawke! This zealot isn’t crazy, I promise!”
Cassandra: (Cry of rage.)
Cassandra flips the table, and Varric runs to the PC.
Varric: Look at her! She’s finally lost it!
Dialogue options:
-
General: Stop this fighting!
- Cassandra slightly disapproves
PC: All right! You’ve both made your point. [3] -
General: This is funny.
- Cassandra disapproves
PC: (Chuckles.) This would be funny if it wasn’t also kind of sad. [3] -
General: Leave me out of this.
+ Cassandra slightly approves
- Varric slightly disapproves
The PC steps back and shakes their head. [3]
3 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: We needed someone to lead this Inquisition.
Cassandra (HoF survived DA:O): First, Leliana and I searched for the Hero of Ferelden, but [they] had vanished. Then we looked for Hawke, but [they were] gone, too. We thought it all connected, but no. It was just you. You kept [them] from us.
Cassandra (HoF died in DA:O, Hawke sided mages): Hawke was our only hope. [They were] the Champion of Kirkwall. The mages respected [them].
Cassandra (HoF died in DA:O, Hawke sided templars): Hawke was our only hope. [They were] the [Vicount/Vicountess] of Kirkwall. [They] commanded respect.
Varric gestures at the PC.
Varric: The Inquisition has a leader.
Cassandra: Hawke would have been at the Conclave! If anyone could have saved Most Holy…
Dialogue options:
- General: Cassandra, back off! [4]
- Cassandra disapproves - General: Varric’s not at fault. [5]
+ Varric approves - General: What’s done is done. [6]
- General: Varric, you bastard. [7] - Varric greatly disapproves
4 - General: Cassandra, back off!
PC: You’ve made your point! [8]
5 - General: Varric’s not at fault.
PC: Varric’s not responsible for what happened at the Conclave. [8]
6 - General: What’s done is done.
PC: You can’t change the past, Cassandra.
Cassandra: So I must accept… what? That the Maker wanted all this to happen? That He, that He… [8]
7 - General: Varric, you bastard.
PC: You did that out of spite? [8]
8 - Scene continues.
Varric (friends with Hawke): I was protecting my friend!
Varric (not friends with Hawke): What do you want from me?
Cassandra: Varric is a liar, Inquisitor. A snake. Even after the Conclave, when we needed Hawke most, Varric kept [them] secret.
Varric: [They’re] with us now. We’re on the same side!
Cassandra: We all know who’s side you’re on, Varric. It will never be the Inquisition’s.
Dialogue options:
- General: We need to work together. [9]
- Varric Slightly Approves
- General: That’s unfair, Cassandra. [10]
- Varric approves
- Cassandra disapproves
- General: Varric’s earned his place. [11]
- Varric approves
- Cassandra disapproves
- General: I’m well aware. [12]
- Cassandra approves
- Varric disapproves
9 - General: We need to work together.
PC: Attacking him now won’t help us, Cassandra.
Varric: Exactly!
PC: And you better not be keeping anything else from us.
Varric: (Sighs.) I understand. [13]
10 - General: That’s unfair, Cassandra.
PC: That’s unworthy of you. [13]
11 - General: Varric’s earned his place.
PC: Varric’s earned his right to be here, Cassandra.
Varric: Thank you. [13]
12 - General: I’m well aware.
PC: You don’t need to tell me that.
Varric: Oh, like I have no reasons to help the Inquisitor finish this?
PC: For the moment.
Varric: Fine. For the moment, I’d like to do what I can. [13]
13 - Scene continues.
Cassandra (med/high approval): He did bring Hawke. Late, perhaps, but Hawke is with us. As are you.
Cassandra (low/neutral approval): I must not think of what could have been. We have so much at stake. Go, Varric. Just… go.
Varric goes to leave, but pauses at the top of the stairs.
Varric: You know what I think? If Hawke had been at the temple, [they’d] be dead, too. You people have done enough to [them].
Varric leaves.
Cassandra: I… believed him. He spun his story for me, and I swallowed it. If I’d just explained what was at stake… If I’d just made him understand…
Cassandra sits.
Cassandra: But I didn’t, did I? I didn’t explain why we needed Hawke. I am such a fool.
14 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: What if it had been different? (selecting this will remove the flirt option) [15]
- Cassandra slightly approves
- General: Don’t blame yourself. [16]
- Cassandra approves
- General: We’re all fools, Cassandra. [17]
- Cassandra approves
- General: We need to do better. [18]
- Flirt: I still like you. [19]
15 - Investigate: What if it had been different?
PC: What if you hadn’t believed him, and you tracked Hawke down?
Cassandra: Honestly, Hawke might not even have agreed to become Inquisitor.
Cassandra (Hawke sided mages): [They] supported the mage rebellion, after all. [They] wouldn’t have trusted me for a second.
Cassandra (Hawke sided templars): [They] supported the templars in Kirkwall, but [they] had so many enemies. I could have been one of them.
Cassandra: But this isn’t about Hawke, or even Varric. Not truly. I should have been more careful. I should have been smarter. I don’t deserve to be here.
[Back to 14]
16 - General: Don’t blame yourself.
PC: You’re too hard on yourself, Cassandra.
Cassandra: Not hard enough, I think.
PC: You can’t believe that. [20]
17 - General: We’re all fools, Cassandra.
PC: Have you looked at our Inquisition, Cassandra? We’re all fools, here.
Cassandra: (Choked laughter.) Is that supposed to make me feel better?
PC: More at home, maybe. [20]
18 - General: We need to do better.
PC: We can’t afford any more mistakes.
Cassandra: You think I don’t know that?
PC: I’m making sure. [20]
19 - Flirt: I still like you.
PC: Good thing I still like you.
Cassandra: I’m serious!
PC: You think I’m not? [20]
20 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: (Breathes deeply.) I want you to know, I have no regrets.
Cassandra (HoF is alive): Maybe if we’d found Hawke or the Hero of Ferelden, the Maker wouldn’t have needed to send you. But He did.
Cassandra (HoF is not alive): Maybe if we’d found Hawke, the Maker wouldn’t have needed to send you. But He did.
Cassandra (med/high approval, have flirted): I don’t know how it will end, but I would have it no other way.
Cassandra (med/high approval): I don’t know what’s to come, but… you’re more than I could have hoped for.
Cassandra (low/neutral approval): You’re… not what I’d pictured. But if I’ve learned anything, it’s that I know less than nothing.
Here Lies the Abyss
Recording History
The PC finds Cassandra in the armory, trying to write.
Cassandra: Writing does not come naturally to me, as I’m certain you can imagine.
Dialogue options:
- General: Is everything okay? [1]
- General (Low approval): It’s funny, watching you. [2]
- Cassandra slightly disapproves
- General (Med/high approval): You’re competing with Varric? [3]
- General: Then why do it? [4]
- Romance: Love poetry, I assume? [5]
- Cassandra slightly approves
1 - General: Is everything okay?
PC: Are you all right? You seem… very intent.
Cassandra: I am. This needs to be done before I forget. As if written by a dim-witted child. (Sighs.) [6]
2 - General: It’s funny, watching you.
PC: I’m trying not to laugh, but looking at you concentrate…
Cassandra: I’m so glad you’re amused. As if written by a dim-witted child. (Sighs.) [6]
3 - General: You’re competing with Varric?
Trying to outdo Varric’s next literary masterpiece?
Cassandra: (Snorts.) I haven’t his talent for blather. As if written by a dim-witted child. (Sighs.) [6]
4 - General: Then why do it?
PC: Then find someone else to do it.
Cassandra: This must be in my own words. As if written by a dim-witted child. (Sighs.) [6]
5 - Romance: Love poetry, I assume?
PC: Let me guess: you’re composing a love poem?
Cassandra smiles and shakes her head.
Cassandra: I couldn’t, not even if my life depended on it.
PC: It’s not that hard.
Cassandra: Yes, it is. Poetry takes finesse, it takes… grace.
PC: You think you don’t have those things?
She shakes her head again. [6]
6 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: Historians will one day ask what happened at Adamant fortress, in the Fade.
Cassandra (not in party at Adamant): I wasn’t there, but others were. Their accounts must be recorded.
Cassandra (in party): I was there. I saw it with my own eyes. It must be recorded.
Dialogue options:
- General: I don’t care about historians. [7]
- Cassandra slightly disapproves
- General: That could be used against us. [8]
- Cassandra slightly disapproves
- General: Just be careful. [9]
- General: That’s a good idea. [10]
- Cassandra slightly approves
7 - General: I don’t care about historians.
PC: Why should anyone care what historians think?
Cassandra: The original Inquisition did not care either, and history remembers them poorly. You may not be worried about your legacy now, but one day you might… and by then, it will be too late. [11]
8 - General: That could be used against us.
PC: What you write could be used against the Inquisition.
Cassandra: (Chuckles.) And everything else we do paints us in such an innocent light? Do not be concerned. I am a poor writer, but not unaware of the weight my words might carry. [11]
9 - General: Just be careful.
PC: Fair enough. Just be careful what you write.
Cassandra: Do not be concerned. I am a poor writer, but not unaware of the weight my words might carry. [11]
10 - General: That’s a good idea.
PC: That’s an excellent idea, Cassandra.
Cassandra: I certainly thought so… until I started writing. [11]
11 - Scene continues.
Cassandra walks to the railing, and the PC joins her.
Cassandra: I still don’t know what to say about the spirit of the Divine.
Cassandra (in party at Adamant): I saw her there, heard her voice. Yet I cannot claim with certainty it was really her.
Cassandra: The Chantry teaches us that the souls of the dead pass through the Fade, so it could have been her. Yet even so…
12 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: You think it’s possible? [13]
- General: It was a spirit, nothing more. [14]
- General: I believe it was her. [15]
- General: I don’t know, either. [16]
13 - Investigate: You think it’s possible?
PC: Do you really think it could have been her? A ghost?
Cassandra: A ghost, a remnant of her hopes and memories, her lingering will to do good… Those things are all possible. Nobody knows for certain what happens after we die. A spirit could have assumed her form… but why? It helped you, as Justinia herself would have.
Dialogue options:
- Special: Maybe it doesn’t matter. [17]
- [Back to 12]
17 - Special: Maybe it doesn’t matter.
PC: Perhaps it doesn’t matter what she really was, then.
Cassandra: It matters to me, to what I must write.
Cassandra (in party): I wish I’d seen her, seen it. I feel so inadequate trying to interpret.
Cassandra (not in party): I must interpret what I saw, yet I am no priest, no philosopher. I am a warrior.
[Back to 12]
14 - General: It was a spirit, nothing more.
PC: I think it was a spirit. That’s all.
Cassandra: Perhaps it saw Justinia’s soul, and admired it enough to carry on her wishes. I hope that’s true. I want to believe it. [18]
15 - General: I believe it was her.
PC: I believe it was the Divine. She helped us one last time.
Cassandra: I hope that’s true. I want to believe it. [18]
16 - General: I don’t know, either.
PC: I don’t know the truth any more than you do.
Cassandra: (Sighs.) Sadly, unanswered questions make for poor reading. [18]
18 - Scene continues.
Cassandra (not in party): When they told me you were physically in the Fade, I was terrified for you.
Cassandra (in party): When I realized we were physically in the Fade, I was terrified almost beyond reason.
Cassandra: The last time such a thing happened, we created darkspawn. We created Corypheus. The world needs to know the truth this time. No more legends lost to the ages.
Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts
The Next Divine
The PC walks up to Cassandra and Mother Giselle, who are speaking in the armory.
Giselle: Will you not consider it, Lady Cassandra? The clerics are sill sequestered. If no one steps forward, they will debate until—
Cassandra: And you think I could make them agree? I’ve heard enough for one day Mother Giselle.
Giselle leaves, passing the PC as she goes.
Giselle: Talk to her, Your Worship.
The PC walks up to Cassandra.
Dialogue options:
- General: Is she bothering you? [1]
- General: Having fun? [2] +Cassandra slightly approves
- General: What’s this about? [3]
1 - General: Is she bothering you? PC: Is there a problem? It seems like she’s bothering you. Cassandra: Mother Giselle is kind, and she means well. So, yes, she was. [4]
2 - General: Having fun? PC: The fun never ends in Skyhold, does it? Cassandra (Qunari PC): “The Inquisitor was a funny Qunari.” That’s what they’ll say one day, you watch. [4] Cassandra (dwarf PC): Are all dwarves such comedians, or just you and Varric? [4] Cassandra (Dalish or human PC): “The Inquisitor was hilarious.” That’s what they’ll say one day, you watch. [4]
3 - General: What’s this about? PC: What’s going on now? [4]
4 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: I assume you’ve heard Leliana and I are both candidates to be the next Divine. Because of what happened at Halmshiral, of course. The empire favors you, thus everyone close to you. So now the Chantry bandies our names without even asking us first.
5 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: Is that even possible? [6]
- General: So refuse. [7]
- General: Who cares about the Chantry? [8] -Cassandra disapproves
- General: You’d be perfect. [9] Divine: Cassandra +5
6 - Investigate: Is that even possible? PC: How can you and Leliana be candidates? You’re not even priests. Cassandra: It is not without precedent. Amara the Third was sister to the emperor, and Galatea a commoner. Leliana and I were, at least, part of the Chantry hierarchy. It would be accepted.
Dialogue options:
- Special: Why am I not a candidate? [10]
- [Back to 5]
10 - Special: Why am I not a candidate? PC: If they’ll pick non-priests, why am I not a candidate? Cassandra (male PC): Because you’re a man, first and foremost. If they name you a candidate, they may as well join the Tevinter Imperium. Truly though, I imagine it’s because they’re frightened of you. [11] Cassandra (mage PC): Because you’re a mage, first and foremost. If they name you a candidate, they may as well join the Tevinter Imperium. Truly though, I imagine it’s because they’re frightened of you. [11] Cassandra: Because they don’t know what you are, and that frightens them. [11]
11 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: A weight such as yours would break the Sunburst throne and tear the Chantry to pieces. I just don’t know why they believe Leliana or I would be any better. [Back to 5]
7 - General: So refuse. PC: If you don’t want it, tell them so. [12]
8 - General: Who cares about the Chantry? PC: Why even consider it? Who cares about the Chantry? Cassandra: I care. [12]
9 - General: You’d be perfect. PC: I think you’d make and excellent Divine. Cassandra: Truly? I never look good in hats. [12]
12 - Scene continues.
They walk outside.
Cassandra: Surely it was never meant to be like this. The Chanty, the Circle of Magi, the templars… this cannot be what they intended when it all began. The Chantry should provide faith. Hope. Instead, it cannot veer from its course, even in the face of certain death.
13 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: You really feel that way? [14]
- General: The Chantry has failed. [15] -Cassandra greatly disapproves
- General: These are extreme times. [16]
- General: So do better. [17] +Cassandra approves
14 - Investigate: You really feel that way? PC: I’m surprised to hear you, of all people, say that. Cassandra: Oh? Am I not the same woman who declared the Inquisition against the Chantry’s wishes? In all my years are a Seeker, I did what I was told. My faith demanded it. But now my faith demands something else: that I see with better eyes. [back to 13]
15 - General: The Chantry has failed. PC: The Chantry has failed, Cassandra. Cassandra (non-Andrastian PC): I’m not surprised a non-believer would say that. Cassandra (Andrastian PC): It’s disheartening that a believer would say that. Cassandra (unsure PC): I wonder if the legions of faithful throughout Thedas would agree with you. [18]
16 - General: These are extreme times. PC: Many extraordinary things have happened to get us to this point. Cassandra: I’m not so certain. I think this has been a long time coming. [18]
17 - General: So do better. PC: If you’re so concerned, then make it better. [18]
18 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: Did you know Varric is Andrastian? Oh, he blasphemes with every second breath, but deep down, he believes. His heart is virtuous. But he would never set foot in a Chantry. it should be the first place to which the virtuous turn. It needs to change. Perhaps I must be the one to change it.
19 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: And what of Leliana? [20]
- Investigate: What would you change? [21]
- Flirt: I like your determination. [22]
- General: I can help you become Divine. [23] +Cassandra approves Divine: Cassandra +5
- General: We have other concerns. [24] -Cassandra disapproves
- General: Maybe the Chantry should end. [25] -Cassandra disapproves Divine: Leliana +1, Cassandra -1
- General: A new crusade for you? [26]
20 - Investigate: And what of Leliana? PC: You’re not the only candidate. What of Leliana? Cassandra: Leliana says she wishes to follow Justinia’s legacy, but she and I remember a different person. Justinia knew her fellow clerics—and the people—would only accept so much change. Leliana would cast it all aside and start over, I think, and that would be chaos for us all. [back to 19]
21 - Investigate: What would you change? PC: What would you change about the Chantry? Cassandra: The Circle of Magi has its place, but it needs to reform. Let the mages govern themselves, with our help. Let the templars stand not as the jailors of mages, but as protectors of the innocent. We must be vigilant, but we must also be compassionate to all peoples of Thedas, humans or no. That is what I would change. [back to 19]
22 - Flirt: I like your determination. PC: Your determination is admirable.
Cassandra (male PC, not flirted before/turned down relationship): Some men would call it an unattractive trait. PC: I’m not those men. [back to 19]
Cassandra (male PC, flirted before): Some men would call it an unattractive trait. PC: I’m not those men. Cassandra: Truer words have never been spoken. PC: Who’s using flattery now? Cassandra: (Laughs.) [back to 19]
Cassandra (female PC): I do nothing that is not worth doing with all my heart. PC: It’s your most attractive trait. [back to 19]
23 - General: I can help you become Divine. PC: I have influence, and I can use it to help the Chantry make up its minds. Cassandra: I cannot ask you to do that. PC: You don’t have to. [27]
24 - General: We have other concerns. PC: We have more important things to worry about right now. Cassandra: One day we must turn our thoughts to what comes after. PC: But that’s not today. Cassandra: I suppose that is true. [27]
25 - General: Maybe the Chantry should end. PC: Perhaps the Chantry needs more than just change. Cassandra: You mean get rid of it entirely? I disagree. Without the Chantry, the faithful would be lost. The Chantry must simply be more responsible in how it leads. [27]
26 - General: A new crusade for you? PC: So this is your new crusade? Cassandra: I’ve agreed to nothing yet. PC: And if the Chantry calls on you? Cassandra: The I will do whatever I can, for as long as I can. [27]
27 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: I suppose I should not be so concerned. The clerics speak my name for now, nothing more. For now, restoring order and stopping Corypheus remain our priority.
What Pride Had Wrought
The PC finds Cassandra on the battlements.
Cassandra: Victory in the Arbor Wilds. The Archdemon might have been a real threat to our army, but it flew off once we turned the tide. It is still out there, however. I wonder what Corypheus plans now.
Dialogue options:
- General: If he returns, we’ll face him. PC: We’ll deal with whatever he throws at us. ㅤㅤ ㅤ
- General: He’ll run and hide? PC: He’ll hide. What other choice does he have? ㅤㅤ ㅤ
- General: He’s lost everything. PC: He has nothing left to throw at us.
Cassandra: Do not underestimate Corypheus. He is powerful, and you have yet to fight him one-on-one. But he will come. You will get your chance.
Dialogue options:
- Flirt: We’ll fight together. [1]
- General: You aren’t worried? [2]
- General: You’re probably right. [3]
- General: I look forward to it. [4]
1 - Flirt: We’ll fight together. PC: We’ll face Corypheus together. Cassandra: There is not another [person] I would be more proud to fight beside.
2 - General: You aren’t worried? PC: You don’t seem concerned about that. Cassandra (low approval): I’m terrified. Yet I know you are strong. Cassandra (high/neutral approval): I’m terrified. Yet I have faith in you.
3 - General: You’re probably right. PC: It wouldn’t be any fun if all this was over so soon. Cassandra: Corypheus believes himself a god. Pride alone demands he not slink off into the shadows. I have faith you will be victorious even so.
4 - General: I look forward to it. PC: If he tries, he’ll regret it. Cassandra (low approval): He underestimates you, as most do. Cassandra (high/neutral approval): I believe you.
5 - Scene continues.
Cassandra walks to a different part of the battlements. The PC follows her.
Cassandra: Not long ago, this was impossible to imagine.
Cassandra (romanced): You, the man I love. Victory close at hand. Cassandra (high/neutral approval): You, a valued friend. Victory close at hand. Cassandra (low approval): You, successful against all odds. Victory close at hand.
Cassandra: The time has come to consider what will come next.

6 - Flirt: So long as we’re together. PC: I don’t care what’s next, as long as we’re together. Cassandra: And if I am named Divine? [11]
7 - Special: I assume you’ll leave. PC: I assume you’ll be leaving, then. Cassandra: You caught me in a poor moment before. I do not drink. PC: It sounded like you spoke your mind. Cassandra: We all have moments of doubt. [15]
8 - General: You’ll be Divine? PC: You’ll be the next Divine, I assume.
Cassandra (romanced): If so, then what of us?
11 - Dialogue options:
- General: Refuse it. [12]
- General: That changes nothing. [13]
- General: Then so be it. [14]
12 - General: Refuse it. PC: I won’t lose you to the Chantry. Cassandra: You haven’t lost me yet. They kiss. Scene ends. ㅤㅤ ㅤ 13 - General: That changes nothing. PC: We can still be together. Cassandra: Can we? I’m not so certain. You haven’t lost me yet. They kiss. Scene ends. ㅤㅤ ㅤ 14 - General: Then so be it. PC: Then you’re Divine. Cassandra: It hasn’t happened yet. They kiss. Scene ends.
Cassandra: That has not happened yet. PC: But it may. Cassandra: If the Maker wills it, then yes–I will answer His call. [15]
9 - General: Don’t jinx it. PC: We still have to beat Corypheus. Cassandra: I have not forgotten. [15]
10 - General: I have plans. PC: Oh, I have plans of my own. Cassandra (low approval): Of that I have no doubt. Cassandra (high/neutral approval): As you should. [15]
15 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: “Blessed are they who stand before the corrupt and the wicked and do not falter.”
Cassandra (low approval): Your strength got us here, Inquisitor. I shall not forget. Cassandra (high approval): You have come far, my friend. It has been an honor. Cassandra (neutral approval): I will stand with you in the end, Inquisitor. If you will have me.
