A soldier walks up while looking at a clipboard.
Soldier: Commander! You wanted a copy of Sister Leliana’s report.
Cullen: What?
Soldier: Sister Leliana’s report. You wanted it delivered “without delay.”
Cullen glares at him, and the scout looks around to see the PC.

3 - General: What’s on your mind? PC: Which is it? [4]
4 - Scene continues.
Cullen: There’s something I wanted to ask you. We have some dealings in Ferelden. I was hoping you might accompany me. When you can spare the time, of course.

- General: Let’s go to Ferelden. PC: You mentioned traveling to Ferelden. There’s time now, if you still want to go. Cullen: Yes, of course.
7 - Scene continues.
Cullen and the PC go to Ferelden. They walk onto a small dock.
PC: Where are we?
Cullen: You walk into danger every day. I wanted to take you away from that. If only for a moment. I grew up not far from here. This place was always quiet.
8 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: Were you here a lot? [9]
- Mage: You’re alone with a mage. [10]
- General: This is wonderful. [11]
- General: You’re really taking a break? [12]
- General: Plus we’re alone. [13]
9 - Investigate: Were you here a lot? PC: Did you come here often? Cullen: I loved my siblings, but they were very loud. I would come here to clear my head. Of course, they always found me eventually. PC: You were happy here? Cullen: I was. I still am. [back to 8]
10 - Mage: You’re alone with a mage. PC: Alone with a mage. That doesn’t concern you? Cullen: The templars have rules on… fraternization. But I’m no longer bound by them.
Dialogue options:
- General: I worry what you think of me. [14]
- General: Would it matter if you were? [15]
- General: Good. [16]
14 - General: I worry what you think of me. PC: I know, but… you’ve seen the worst mages have to offer. How can you not see that in me? Cullen: I don’t. If I’ve given you reason to doubt… (Sighs.) Of course I have. Whatever I fear of magic, I see none of that in you. [17] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 15 - General: Would it matter if you were? PC: Would it really have stopped you? If we’d met before? Cullen: I don’t… I… PC: You could say, “No, of course not.” Cullen: It is hard to believe I wouldn’t have noticed you. [17] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 16 - General: Good. PC: I should hope not. [17]
11 - General: This is wonderful. PC: I could use some quiet. PC (after investigate): It’s beautiful. [17]
12 - General: You’re really taking a break? PC: How will you survive without a parade of messengers and war reports? Cullen: I should be able to last the day. Besides, I told Leliana to send word if— PC: Cullen. You. Me. Alone. Pretty lake. Cullen: Right. Of course.
13 - General: Plus we’re alone. PC: While we’re here, you have me all to yourself. Cullen: The thought may have crossed my mind. [17]
17 - Scene continues.
Cullen: The last time I was here was the day I left for templar training. My brother gave me this.
He pulls out a coin.
Cullen: It just happened to be in his pocket, but he said it was for luck. Templars are not supposed to carry such things. Our faith should see us through.
Dialogue options:
General (Andrastian PC): Faith is better. [18] General (non-Andrastian PC): Luck can’t hurt. [19] General: So you broke the rules? [20] General: You’re not very lucky. [21]
18 - General: Faith is better. PC: Faith is stronger. It gets us through when luck fails. Cullen: I believe that, and yet… [22]
19 - General: Luck can’t hurt. PC: A little luck can’t hurt, every now and then. Cullen: I suppose not. I should have died during the Blight. Or at Kirkwall, or Haven. Take your pick. And yet I made it back here. [22]
20 - General: So you broke the rules? PC: You broke the Order’s rules? I’m shocked. Cullen: Until a year ago, I was very good at following them. Most of the time. This was the only thing I took from Ferelden that the templars didn’t give me. [22]
21 - General: You’re not very lucky. PC: I don’t think it worked. You haven’t been all that fortunate. Cullen: I should have died during the Blight. Or at Kirkwall, or Haven. Take your pick. And yet I made it back here. [22]
22 - Scene continues.
Cullen: Humor me.
He offers the coin to the PC.
Cullen: We don’t know what you’ll face before the end. This can’t hurt.
Dialogue options:
- General: Thank you. [23]
- General: I want you to keep it. [24]
- General: I don’t need luck. [25]
23 - General: Thank you. PC: I’ll keep it safe. Cullen: Good. Cullen: I know it’s foolish, but… I’m glad. They kiss. Scene ends.
24 - General: I want you to keep it. PC: Keep it. I don’t want your luck to run out. Cullen: Nor do I. Not when I finally have some. They kiss. Scene ends.
25 - General: I don’t need luck. PC: I can get myself out of trouble, I promise. Cullen: You’re rather good at getting into it, as well. I’ve read the reports on your adventures. They kiss. Scene ends.
There’s Always Something

Cullen: Rylen’s men will monitor the situation.
Soldier: Yes, ser. We’ll begin preparation at once.
Cullen: In the meantime, we’ll send soldiers to…

4 - Scene continues.
Cullen: This war won’t last forever. When it started, I hadn’t considered much beyond our survival. But things are different now.
PC: What do you mean?
Cullen: I find myself wondering what will happen after. When this is over, I won’t want to move on… not from you.
Cullen: But I don’t know what you—that is, if you, ah…

5 - I want to be with you. PC: Cullen. Do you need to ask? Cullen: I suppose not. I— PC: (Gasps.) They knock a glass off Cullen’s desk. He smirks before sweeping everything off his desk and the scene fades to black. [8]
6 - I want to be friends. PC: I’d rather we were friends. Cullen looks at the PC. PC: I should have said something before. I hope it’s not too late. Cullen glares at the PC, and then leaves. Scene ends.
7 - We should end this. PC: I can’t do this. Whatever’s between us, there’s not future in it. Cullen: I see. Cullen: I thought we… I was mistaken. The PC leaves. Scene ends.
8 - Scene continues.
They wake up the next morning, and the PC gets ready to leave when Cullen starts to mutter in his sleep.
Cullen: (Murmuring.) (Breathes.) No… leave me… Leave me.
He jolts awake.
PC: Bad dream?
Cullen (quit lyrium): They always are. Without lyrium, they’re worse. Cullen (continued lyrium for now): They always are. I cannot escape them.

10 - General: You can relax, Cullen. PC: Despite the dream, is it still a good morning? Cullen: (Laughs.) It’s perfect. [12]
11 - General: You didn’t. PC: I’m never worried. Cullen: I almost believe you. [12]
12 - Scene continues.
Cullen: You are… I have never felt anything like this.
