Flirt: I Could Watch You All Day

Dorian: I could watch you roam Skyhold all day. Here and there you run, checking in on your followers. Why don’t they come to you, feed you grapes, rub your shoulders? I suppose it’s more fun this way. For me, I mean. You’re rather strapping.

Dialogue options:

  • Flirt: I could say the same of you. [1]
  • General: Thank you? [2]
  • General: It’s so true. [3]
  • General: Don’t flirt with me. (Dorian will stop flirting with the PC) [4]

1 - Flirt: I could say the same of you. PC: I’ve noticed you’re rather strapping, yourself. Dorian: Of course you have. That only takes eyes. PC: Luckily, I have those. Dorian: You do! A rather fetching pair. [5]

2 - General: Thank you? PC: Err… thank you, I suppose? Dorian: Thanking someone for a deserved compliment is always the correct choice. [5]

3 - General: It’s so true. PC: I am rather strapping. How kind of you to notice. Dorian: If the Inquisitor were some grim-faced old man, it would be such a cliché. This is better. [5]

4 - General: Don’t flirt with me. PC: I’d prefer if you didn’t… make comments like that. Dorian: Touchy, I see. As you wish. [5]

5 - Scene continues.

Dorian: At any rate, you didn’t pass by to hear me fawn. Something on your mind?

Flirt: We Should Talk

(Begin a romance with Dorian)

The PC talks to Dorian after they meet with Magister Pavus.

PC: I’d like to talk to you about something.

Dorian: How ominous. Has my father finally come up with a decent offer to buy me from you?

PC: No, it’s nothing like that…

Dorian: I wouldn’t blame you. My father’s a very wealthy man.

PC: I meant I wanted to talk about us.

Choice dependent dialogue:

  • If the PC is in a relationship with someone else [1]
  • If the PC is available [2]

1 - If the PC is in a relationship with someone else Us? Don’t be silly. I’m told you’re… involved with someone else.

Dialogue options:

  • General: Does that matter? [3]
  • General: [Lie.] You’re misinformed. [4]
  • General: I’d prefer you. [5]

3 - General: Does that matter? PC: Why should that matter? What do you think I’m asking? Dorian: I’m not interested in complications. Is that so difficult to understand?

4 - General: [Lie.] You’re misinformed. PC: That’s not true. Dorian: I see. Do they know that?

5 - General: I’d prefer you. PC: Perhaps, but I’d rather be involved with you.

6 - Scene continues.

Dorian: If you wish to talk about “us,” then talk to them first. Ensure there are no… misunderstandings.

PC: I thought you’d be…

(Laughs.) Less cautious? Not this far south.

2 - If the PC is available Dorian: Oh-ho! I see. What’s the latest news on the “us” front, then?

Dialogue options:

  • I want us to be closer. (This will begin a romance with Dorian.) [7]
  • Never mind. [8]

7 - I want us to be closer. PC: I was hoping to get to know you better. Dorian: So… you and I? People will talk. PC: Let them. Dorian: All right, we’ll see how this goes. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

8 - Never mind. PC: (Sighs.) There is no news. Dorian: How dreadful. Back to being fantastic all on my own.

If the PC brings it up again while still in a relationship:

Dorian: As I said before, talk to Iron Bull. I’m not crossing horns with him.

Dorian: Talk to Cassandra first. There’s no way I’m crossing paths with that woman.

Dorian: Talk to Josephine first. She’s a sweet girl. I shouldn’t like her eyeballing me every time I cross the courtyard.

Flirt: We Should Talk (Romanced)

PC: I need to talk to you.

Dorian: You could at least bring me wine. Loosens the tongue, so to speak. Dorian: About how much you adore me, I assume. I hear that so often. Dorian: Oh? I am, as you say down south, “all ears.” Dorian: Just talk? Such a pity.

Dialogue options:

  • General: We need to end this. (This will end your romance with Dorian) [1]
  • General: I came for a kiss. [2]
  • General: Let’s spend time together. [3]
  • General (post-HLTA+WEWH, after bedroom scene): About the future… [4]
  • General: Never mind. [5]

1 - General: We need to end this. PC: This… thing between us can’t go on. Dorian: Of course it can’t. The Herald of Andraste carrying on with a Tevinter mage? Preposterous. PC: I’m serious. Dorian: I didn’t doubt it for a moment. Too bad—I was hoping for a lively Winterfest gift.

Dialogue options:

  • General: You’re not upset? [6]
  • General: Of course you joke. [7]
  • General: No need to belabor it. [8]

6 - General: You’re not upset? PC: You… don’t sound too broken up over it. Dorian: I could rend my garments, muss up my hair… No, I wouldn’t touch my hair. Let’s not get carried away. Scene ends. ㅤㅤ ㅤ 7 - General: Of course you joke. PC: Leave it to you to make light. Dorian: I could make it difficult, but why? You have better things to worry about. Scene ends. ㅤㅤ ㅤ Dorian (negative approval): Truth be told, we’re probably not suited to each other. Which is sad, but there it is. Scene ends. ㅤㅤ ㅤ Dorian (high approval): Just remember: I’ll still be watching you… from behind, where the view is best. Such is my way. Scene ends. ㅤㅤ ㅤ Dorian (neutral approval) I won’t lie. It could have been something… but we have to be realistic, yes? If you’ll excuse me, a bottle calls. Orlesian brandy is so cheap here, it’s criminal. Scene ends. ㅤㅤ ㅤ 8 - General: No need to belabor it. PC: Good. Let’s leave it there. Dorian: So we shall. It was interesting while it lasted. Scene ends.

2 - General: I came for a kiss. PC: I was hoping to steal a moment of your time. Dorian (after bedroom scene): You have but to ask, amatus. Lead the way. Scene ends.

Dorian (have not had bedroom scene): (Laughs.) “I need to talk to you,” he says. Have it your way, but let’s go where a hundred onlookers won’t think I’m stealing the Inquisitor’s soul away. Scene ends.

3 - PC: Let’s do something interesting. Dorian: More interesting than wandering the countryside, killing random strangers? Perish the thought.

  • Dorian: But if you insist, a game of Wicked Grace will have to do. Time to take all of your coin.
  • Dorian: It’ll have to be brandy, won’t it? A little early, but that’s never stopped me before.
  • Dorian: This castle of yours isn’t exactly filled with diversions… but we can figure something out.
  • Dorian: Come, we’ll wander the grounds, and I’ll bore you with tales of Tevinter intrigue.
  • Dorian: Come, We’ll watch your soldiers bash each other with sticks while I critique their uniforms. PC: What’s wrong with their uniforms? Dorian: Getting ahead of yourself, aren’t you? I have a list. Let me find it…
  • Dorian: Sad we aren’t in Minrathous. I could show you a hundred ways to shame your ancestors, but we’ll make do.
  • Dorian: But we could find Cassandra and pretend we’re talking about her. It would drive her mad.

4 - General: About the future… PC: I thought we could discuss what happens… after.

Dorian: Ah, yes. After. Dreadful thing, after. Let’s see. Assuming one or both of us aren’t slaughtered along the way, what do you wish to happen? We could go our separate ways, if you prefer. I’ve been a port in a storm before. I would understand.

Dialogue options:

General: I want to stay together. [9] General: Is that what you want? [10] General: That might be best. [11]

9 - General: I want to stay together. PC: Of course not. I want us to be together as long as we can. Dorian: You’re very sentimental for someone who’s killed as many people as you have. PC: You bring it out in me. Dorian: Sweet Maker, next you’ll be making calf eyes at puppies. [15]

10 - General: Is that what you want? PC: Are you saying this because that’s what you want? Dorian: You’re the Inquisitor. You’re the one with responsibilities. I am but an adornment upon your arm.

Dialogue options:

  • General: You’re more than that. [12]
  • General: Suddenly modest? [13]
  • General: No games. [14]

12 - General: You’re more than that. PC: You know you’re more than that to me. Dorian: You’re very sentimental for someone who’s killed as many people as you have. PC: You bring it out in me. Dorian: Sweet Maker, next you’ll be making calf eyes at puppies. [15]

13 - General: Suddenly modest? PC: All of a sudden, that’s all you are? Dorian: That’s not all I am, but I’m not the great holy hope of southern Thedas. PC: It’s still early. Dorian: You joke. One day they’ll write books about you. Boring ones that will get it all wrong. Just watch. [15]

14 - General: No games. PC: Stop with the games. I want an answer. Dorian: The Inquisitor is wearing the serious hat today, I see. PC: It’s not a hat. [15]

11 - General: That might be best. PC: That might save us both some trouble. Dorian: Loads of trouble. Indeed. PC: That doesn’t sound like you’re agreeing. Dorian: You’re the Inquisitor, amatus. King of the world. I am pleased with whatever time I can have, while I can. Scene ends.

15 - Scene continues. Dorian: I… don’t know what the future holds. For us or anything. That’s my honest answer. Once Corypheus is defeated, when this is over… I’d like to talk about it more. If you would. Scene ends.

5 - General: Never mind. PC: On second thought, I’ve changed my mind. Dorian: One of those days, is it?

Something More Primal

Have you been to your quarters lately by chance?

PC: Not recently.

Do, when you have the time. There’s… something that might interest you.

Dorian walks in as the PC stands at their desk.

Dorian: So! It’s all very nice, this flirting business. I am, however, not a nice man. So here is my proposal: we dispense with the chitchat and move on to something more primal. It’ll set tongues wagging, of course. Not that they aren’t already wagging.

Dorian walks up, circling the PC, and leans over them.

Dorian: I suppose it really depends. How bad does the Inquisitor want to be?

Dialogue options:

  • General: Can we slow things down? [1]
  • General: Forget it. [2]
  • Flirt: It’s about time. [3]

1 - General: Can we slow things down? The PC steps away. PC: Do we need to move things this quickly? Dorian: Quickly? By my standards, we’ve been positively chaste. PC: It seems a little sudden. Dorian: What is it you want from me, exactly? A relationship?

Dialogue options:

  • General: Why not? [4]
  • General: No. [5]

4 - General: Why not? PC: Is that such a terrible idea? Dorian turns away. PC: You’re speechless. Dorian: It doesn’t happen often. Where I come from, anything between men… it’s physical. It doesn’t go beyond that. It’s not that you don’t care, you just… don’t hope for more.

Dialogue options:

  • General: This is real. PC: This is more. ㅤㅤ ㅤ
  • General: Why not? What’s the harm? PC: Why wouldn’t you? What’s the worst that could happen? ㅤㅤ ㅤ
  • General: You should. PC: Always hope for more.

Dorian: You say that like it’s a simple thing, easily imagined. I have no examples with which to compare.

Dialogue options:

  • General: We’re the example. [6]
  • General: We’ll figure it out. [7]
  • General: You don’t want to? [8]

6 - General: We’re the example. PC: Let us be the example. Dorian: You are a remarkably bizarre creature. [9] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 7 - General: We’ll figure it out. PC: I’m sure we’ll muddle through, somehow. Dorian: Like the Inquisition? Make it up as we go? PC: Works for me. Dorian: Clearly! [9] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 8 - General: You don’t want to? PC: So… you want to call it off? Dorian: No! It’s just… you’re asking me to turn into a unicorn, and I don’t even know what one looks like. PC: I’m not asking you to change. [9] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 9 - Scene continues. ㅤㅤ ㅤ Dorian: Fine. have it your way. I am, however, not leaving your quarters empty-handed. It’s a matter of pride. They kiss, and Dorian leaves. Scene ends.

5 - General: No. PC: No, that’s not it. [10]

2 - General: Forget it. PC: No. I don’t know what you thought, but… no. [10]

10 - Scene continues.

Dorian: I don’t enjoy being toyed with. First you’re hot, then you’re cold. If this isn’t leading anywhere, then say so. I’m a big boy, I can take it.

Dialogue options:

  • General: It’s not going anywhere. [11] -Dorian slightly disapproves
  • General: I want to be friends. [12]
  • General: This isn’t the right moment. [13]

11 - General: It’s not going anywhere. PC: Have it your way. This isn’t leading anywhere. Dorian: See? That wasn’t so hard. Sad that I didn’t get to see you naked first, but have it your way. [14]

12 - General: I want to be friends. PC: I never intended it to go this far. I’d prefer we were friends. Dorian: Friendship. I see. Sad that I didn’t get to see you naked first, but have it your way. [14]

13 - General: This isn’t the right moment. PC: You caught me at a bad time, Dorian. Dorian: When is a good time, exactly? You face death on a daily basis, my friend. PC: I know, but— Dorian: No, I apologize. My sense of timing is usually better. Perhaps we should… pick this up some other time? After the business with Corypheus is resolved, for both our sakes. [14]

14 - Scene ends.

3 - Flirt: It’s about time. PC: I thought you’d never ask. Dorian: I like playing hard to get. PC: And now? Dorian: I’m gotten.

The scene fades to them in the PC’s quarters. Dorian stands naked facing the window.

Dorian: I like your quarters.

PC: Do you now?

Dorian: Don’t misunderstand. I’m not suggesting we venture into mutual domesticity. I just like your appointments.

Dorian returns to sit on the bed, and the PC sits up.

PC: Ah.

Dorian: Not that I couldn’t suggest some changes. Your taste is a little… austere.

Dialogue options:

  • General: Change away. [15]
  • General: Something on your mind? [16]
  • General: That’s quite the hint. [17]

15 - General: Change away. PC: If you want to change things around… Dorian: No. That’s not what I want. [18]

16 - General: Something on your mind? PC: You seem a little… distracted. Dorian: Sex will do that. It’s distracting. PC: I heard a rumor. Dorian: Very well, you’ve rooted me out. There is something I want. [18]

17 - General: That’s quite the hint. PC: You’re leading to something. Dorian: I was going to suggest you buy Antiva. PC: Really? Dorian: Don’t be ridiculous. Their rugs are completely overrated. [18]

18 - Scene continues.

Dorian: I’m curious where this goes, you and I. We’ve had fun. Perfectly reasonable to leave it here, get on with the business of killing Archdemons and such…

19 - Dialogue options:

  • Investigate: Is that what you want? [20]
  • Flirt: I want more. [21]
  • General: I’d prefer to keep this fun. [22]
  • General: Let’s leave it here, then. [23]

20 - Investigate: Is that what you want? PC: Tell me what you want. Dorian: All on me, then? PC: Should it be all on me? Dorian: (Sighs.) I like you. More than I should. More than might be wise. We end it here, I walk away. I won’t be pleased, but I’d rather now than later. Later might be dangerous. PC: Why dangerous? Dorian: Walking away might be harder then. [back to 19]

22 - Flirt: I want more. PC: I want more than just fun, Dorian. PC: Speechless, I see. Dorian: I was… expecting something different. Where I come from, anything between two men… it’s about pleasure. It’s accepted, but taken no further. You learn not to hope for more. You’d be foolish to.

Dialogue options:

  • General: This is more. [24]
  • General: Let’s be foolish. [25]
  • General: And now? [26]

24 - General: This is more. PC: This is more, Dorian. Right here. Dorian: Funny I didn’t recognize it, then. [27] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 25 - General: Let’s be foolish. PC: So let’s be foolish. Dorian: Hard habit to break. PC: I’m good at breaking things. Dorian: Hopefully not everything. [27] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 26 - General: And now? PC: You still feel that way? Dorian: I’m beginning to learn otherwise. [27] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 27 - Scene continues. ㅤㅤ ㅤ Dorian: Care to inquisit me again? I’ll be more specific in my directions this time. ㅤㅤ ㅤ PC: Show off. ㅤㅤ ㅤ They fall back into bed. ㅤㅤ ㅤ Scene ends.

13 - General: I’d prefer to keep this fun.

PC (asked what Dorian wants): I don’t know if I want more. Wasn’t this a good time? Dorian: I’ve no burning need to stroke your ego. More of the same would not be unwelcome.

PC (did not ask what Dorian wants): Is there anything wrong with having fun? Why do we need to stop now? Dorian: Because stopping later might be too difficult.

Dorian: Perhaps this is something we can speak on later… once we see whether you or I survive this whole business.

Dorian: Until then… I need to go. Dorian stands and starts to collect his clothes. Scene ends.

14 - General: Let’s leave it here, then. PC: All right. Perhaps this is all it should be. Dorian: True enough. We have other things with which to concern ourselves. Corypheus, dragons, any number of interesting deaths. Dorian stands and starts to collect his clothes. Dorian: It was fun. Get new curtains. These ones are grisly. Scene ends.
