Chantry Mourner

The Threat Remains Conversation

Chantry Mourner

If spoken to before Mother Hevara:

  • Mourner: This Inquisition is heresy. You will not look on my doubt.
  • Mourner: The templars will stand for us and help Val Royeaux return to mourning.

The PC speaks to him after the templars leave.

Mourner: My Maker, know my heart, take from me a life of sorrow. Comfort is only yours to give. Oh, Maker, where is the comfort?

Qunari PC:

Mourner: Have you come to scavenge, now that the Divine lies cold? Whisper your “Qun” against the Chant? Leave me, my emptiness will not be borne by you. Maker, show me the light!

Scene continues.

Mourner: Look away. I have broken the Chant, because it comes from the heart. What have we, when out divine is dead, and the sky burns?

Dialogue options:

1 - Investigate: You “broke the Chant”?

PC: What do you mean you “broke the Chant”?

Mourner: Are you all so ignorant of the Maker’s basic rites? The Chant of Light is how we honor the Maker. They are the only words the faithful should hear from my lips, but I can’t… Out Divine is dead. Our templars are gone. The Maker’s silence is deafening. What hope have we?

Return to dialogue tree.

2 - Special: Keep Faith. Andraste’s with me.

PC: The blessing of Andraste are not lost to us. They’ve been made flesh.

Mourner: Hold your tongue. I will not hear the blasphemy of a fool who claims to be sent by our Holy Bride. Maker, put out my eyes. I’d rather blindness than this growing dark.

Scene continues.

3 - General: We should all be questioning.

PC: We should question. If not now, when?

Mourner: Down this road is darkness. We have never been alone. We cannot be alone. But even our templars forsake the Light. Even they.

Scene continues.

4 - General: The Inquisition will bring order.

PC: The Inquisition can give you the answers you need.

Mourner: So I have a faith I’ve lost, or one that seeks to drive it from me. I cannot even look to our templars. How is this not darkness?

Scene continues.

5 - General: Ask the Maker for strength.

PC: Pray to the Maker for strength, not forgiveness.

Mourner: Have I not tried? Andraste, Maker, show me your light! Take me back in faith! I cannot find it on my own.

Scene continues.

6 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.

Mourner: Forgive me Maker, I have lost the light.

If spoken to again:

Mourner: Blessed are the righteous, the lights in the shadow. In their blood the Maker’s will is written.

Mourner: The one who repents, who has faith, unshaken by the darkness of this world, she shall know true peace.
