Morrigan Drank (no Keiran)
‘Tis exhilarating
Morrigan: Magnificent. Suddenly it all makes sense. I now understand the nuance between elven words. The ancient lore reveals patterns I would never had expected. ‘Tis exhilarating, the rush of images—truth dangling just out of reach.
1 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: Like what? [2]
- General: Glad I could help. [3]
- General: And that’s a good thing? [4]
- General: How will that help us? [5]
2 - Investigate: Like what? PC: Tell me more. Morrigan: Take the eluvians. It was always assumed their use was lost after the Tevinter conquest of Arlathan. But the ancient elves had closed all paths to the Crossroads long before. They warred with themselves, and the eluvians were sealed to prevent an enemy from using them to attack. So much is misunderstood. It will take years to absorb, if I get the chance. [back to 1]
3 - General: Glad I could help. PC: I’m pleased I could give you that, at least. Morrigan (PC did not warn about the Well’s geas): And pleased I am to have the chance, believe me. Morrigan (PC warned about the Well’s geas): I still wait for the other shoe to drop, as they say. For now, all I see are possibilities. Morrigan: None of which has anything to do with why I asked you here, of course. [6]
4 - General: And that’s a good thing? Morrigan (PC did not warn about the Well’s geas): ‘Tis more than good. What I might recover of the ancient world now… Morrigan (PC warned about the Well’s geas): For the moment. With luck, the concerns we shared over the Well’s price shall remain meaningless. Morrigan: None of which has anything to do with why I asked you here, of course. [6]
5 - General: How will that help us? PC: And this will help the Inquisition how, exactly? [6]
6 - Scene continues.
Morrigan: Earlier I said there was a way to match the power of Corypheus, Inquisitor, and there is.
Morrigan: We must summon Mythal.
Dialogue options:
- Surprised: Err… what? [7]
- Confused (non-Dalish PC): Isn’t Mythal dead? [8]
- Confused (non-Dalish PC): Mythal is beyond our reach. [9]
- Pleased: Sounds like fun. [10]
- Stoic: And how do we do that? [11]
7 - Surprised: Err… what? PC: I’m sorry, did you say… ? Morrigan: Summon Mythal, the elven goddess of justice, yes. [12]
8 - Confused: Isn’t Mythal dead? PC: Didn’t you say that Mythal was long dead? Or a myth? [12]
9 - Confused: Mythal is beyond our reach. PC: My people believe that Mythal was trapped beyond the Fade long ago. Even if she isn’t, she’s never shown any evidence of being alive, never responded to our prayers. [12]
10 - Pleased: Sounds like fun. PC: Really? That sounds quite fun. Morrigan: Fun? (Laughs.) ‘Tis an odd notion of fun you have, Inquisitor. [12]
11 - Stoic: And how do we do that? PC: And just how do you propose to do that? [12]
12 - Scene continues.
Morrigan: Whatever Mythal was–goddess, myth, or ancient being–the voices of the Well say a part of her power lingers on. How or in what form, I cannot say–but that power is exactly what we need. I must go to an altar in the wilderness to perform the summoning, and you must be with me.
Dialogue options
- General: Could it be dangerous? [13]
- General: You need me there? [14]
- General: I don’t trust this. [15]
13 - General: Could it be dangerous? PC: Will the summoning be dangerous? [16]
14 - General: You need me there? PC: You don’t need me for some ritual sacrifice, I hope… [16]
15 - General: I don’t trust this. PC: Can you even trust these voices you’re pinning your hopes on? Morrigan: What other choice do we have? PC: And you think this is the only way to defeat Corypheus? Morrigan: The only way that can happen quickly. That this is possible at all is miracle enough. [16]
16 - Scene continues.
Morrigan: The altar could have a guardian or other surprises; thus, your company would be best.
Morrigan (Dalish PC): Just think, Inquisitor: soon you could have an answer your people have sought for generations. Morrigan (non-Dalish PC): Imagine what we will learn, Inquisitor. Some would give their lives to unearth secrets such as this.
The Altar of Mythal
The party arrives at a structure in the Arbor wilds.
PC: This is the place?
Morrigan: It is. Look for an altar, ancient but still standing.
They enter the structure and see a large stature ahead.
Morrigan: There. Do you see it?
They approach the altar, and PC paces in front of it.
Morrigan: ‘Tis all that remains of the great altar. We few who travel far, call to me , and I will come. Without mercy, without fear.”
Solas (if in party): “ Cry havoc in the moonlight, let the fire of vengeance burn, the cause is clear.”
Morrigan: Why, thank you.
Dialogue options:
- Arcane: I know what this place is. [1]
- General: I don’t like that last part. [2]
- General: Could this really work? [3]
- General: Get on with it. [4]
1 - Arcane: I know what this place is. PC: Strange that there wasn’t an altar like this at Mythal’s temple. The temple was a place of justice, but this… is different. This was where the elves called to her. Spoke to her. Morrigan: Then one day she disappeared, and there was no one with whom to speak. [5]
2 - General: I don’t like that last part. PC: “Without mercy”? That sounds rather ominous. Morrigan: Indeed it does. [5]
3 - General: Could this really work? PC: Could this actually summon an ancient goddess? Morrigan: We are about to find out. [5]
4 - General: Get on with it. PC: If you’re going to do it, do it. [5]
5 - Scene continues.
If there are other members in the party: Morrigan: Your companions will need to go elsewhere. Not to worry. If there is shouting, they will hear it readily enough.
The party members leave.
Morrigan: You know who I am. From high priest to high priest, I am the last to drink of sorrows. Come to us, Mythal. Whatever you are, whatever remains, I invoke your name and your power.
A cloud of smoke appears behond them, and Flemeth walks out.
Morrigan: Mother.
PC: “Mother”?
Flemeth: Now, isn’t this a surprise?
Dialogue options:
- General: This is Mythal? [6]
- General: You know her? [7]
- General: What’s going on here? [8]
6 - General: This is Mythal? PC: So this is Mythal? Morrigan: She is a deceiving witch! [9]
7 - General: You know her? PC: I take it you know her? Morrigan: She is a deceiving witch! [9]
8 - General: What’s going on here? PC: What’s wrong? Morrigan: We have been deceived! [9]
9 - Scene continues.
Morrigan tries to attack her but is stopped.
Flemeth: Now, now, that’s quite enough of that.
Morrigan: What have you done to me?
Flemeth: I have done nothing. You drank from the Well of your own volition.
Morrigan: Then… you are Mythal?
Dialogue options
- Stoic: She is? [10]
- Confused: You’re not even an elf! [11]
- Angry: You’re no god. [12]
- Pleased: [Kneel before her.] [13]
- Angry: This was a trick? [14]
10 - Stoic: She is? PC: That’s Mythal? Flemeth: You invoke that name so easily. I wonder if you know what it means? [16]
11 - Confused: You’re not even an elf! PC (Dalish): Mythal was the goddess of justice. I’ve seen the statues. She… Flemeth: Was one of the People. Yes, indeed.
PC (non-Dalish): Mythal was an elven god. You, you’re… Flemeth: Human? Not a word many have used for me in a very long time. [15]
12 - Angry: You’re no god. PC: I’m supposed to believe that you’re some kind of god? Flemeth: Clearly not the sort you had in mind, hmm? [15]
13 - Pleased: [Kneel before her.] PC (Dalish): I greet you, Asha’bellanar. To see you in the flesh, to see you alive and among us… Flemeth: You see, girl? Those are manners, as you require a demonstration.
PC (non-Dalish): Thank you for coming. I had no idea what to expect. Flemeth: You see, girl? Those are manners, as you require a demonstration. [15]
14 - Angry: This was a trick? PC: Then this was all some kind of trick? Flemeth: I know many tricks, but this… is merely a reunion. [15]
15 - Scene continues.
Morrigan: I do not understand. How can you be Mythal?
Flemeth: Once I was but a woman, crying out in the lonely darkness for justice. And she came to me, a wisp of an ancient being, and she granted me all I wanted and more. I have carried Mythal through the ages ever since, seeking the justice denied to her.
Dialogue options:
- General: She’s a part of you? [16]
- General: That could be a demon. [17]
- General: Why should we trust you? [18]
16 - General: She’s a part of you? PC: Then… you carry Mythal inside you? Flemeth: She is a part of me, no more separate than your heart from your chest. [19]
17 - General: That could be a demon. PC: That could have been a demon, lying to you. [19]
18 - General: Why should we trust you? PC: You can say anything you like. Why should we trust you? [19]
19 - Scene continues.
Flemeth: You hear the voices of the Well, girl. What do they say?
Morrigan closes her eyes.
Morrigan: They… say you speak the truth.
Flemeth: But what was Mythal? A legend given name and called a god, or something more? Truth is not the end, but a beginning.
She turns to the PC.
Flemeth (Dalish PC): So young and vibrant. You do the People proud and have come far. Flemeth (non-Dalish PC): A herald, indeed. Shouting to the heavens, harbinger of a new age.
Flemeth: As for me, I have had many names. But you… may call me Flemeth.
20 - Dialogue options:
- History: I know who Flemeth is. [21]
- Special (Dalish PC): The elves needed you. [22]
- Investigate: You’re Morrigan’s mother? [23]
- General: Will you help us? [24]
- General: This was no accident. [25]
- General: So what now? [26]
21 - History: I know who Flemeth is. PC (Dalish PC): I know the name “Flemeth.” My people call you Asha’bellanar, the woman of many years, and speak of your legend. PC (non-Dalish PC): I know the name “Flemeth.” It belongs to an ancient Fereldan legend.
PC: It says, long ago, you left your husband for a lover. Your husband then tricked you, killed your lover, and imprisoned you. Then a spirit came to offer you vengeance. Mythal–that’s what you spoke of. Flemeth: One day, someone will summarize the terrible events of your life so quickly. But, yes, I was that woman. That is how my tale began. PC: Flemeth appears in other legends, helping heroes for reasons of her own. Flemeth: I nudge history, when it’s required. Other times, a shove is needed. (Chuckles.) [27]
22 - Special: The elves needed you. PC: If Mythal is a part of you, why haven’t you helped us? We’ve called to you, prayed to you… Flemeth: What was could not be changed. PC: What about now? You know so much… Flemeth: You know not what you ask, child. [27]
23 - Investigate: You’re Morrigan’s mother? PC: Then you’re Mythal and Morrigan’s mother? Morrigan: As well as a witch who prolongs her unnatural life by possessing the bodies of her daughters. Flemeth: That’s what you believe, is it? Morrigan: I found your grimoire, and I am no fool, old woman. Flemeth: (Chuckles.) Yet here you stand, bound into my service. My daughter ran from me long ago. I’ve let her be… until now, it seems.
Dialogue options:
- Investigate: I need to understand. [27]
- [Back to 25]
27 - Investigate: I need to understand. PC: Why did Mythal come to you? Flemeth: For a reckoning that will shake the very heavens. Morrigan: And you follow her whims? Do you even know what she truly is? Flemeth: You seek to preserve the powers that were, but to what end? It is because I taught you, girl, because things happened that were never meant to happen. She was betrayed as I was betrayed–as the world was betrayed! Mythal clawed and crawled her way through the ages to me, and I will see her avenged! Alas, so long as the music plays, we dance. [back to 25]
24 - Will you help us? PC: We summoned you because we need your help. Flemeth: Against the magister who grasps beyond his reach. Yes, I know. [27]
25 - General: This was no accident. This meeting was no accident, was it? Flemeth: Clever [lad/girl]. Morrigan: The voices… came from you? Flemeth: The price of the Well seemed no dire thing when you saw so much gain, hmm? [27]
26 - General: So what now? PC: So what happens now? [27]
27 - Scene continues.
Flemeth: The voices did not lie, Morrigan. I can help you fight Corypheus.
The voices speak to Morrigan again.
Flemeth: Do you understand, child?
Morrigan: Yes, I… think I do.
Flemeth turns to leave.
Morrigan: Wait!
Flemeth: I wished to see who drank from the Well of Sorrows. It has been a very long time.
Flemeth: (Chuckles.) Imagine my surprise to discover it was you.
Morrigan: And that is all?
Flemeth: A soul is not forced upon the unwilling, Morrigan. You were never in danger from me.
Flemeth disappears.
Morrigan: All things considered, Inquisitor, I now wish you had drunk from the Well.
Dialogue options:
- General: Are you all right? [28]
- General: No kidding. [29]
- General: Did she help us? [30]
28 - General: Are you all right? PC: Will you be all right? Morrigan: I… am uncertain.
29 - General: No kidding. PC: Forced to obey your mother, huh? Ouch.
30 - General: Did she help us? PC: Will what she did to you actually help? Morrigan: Surprisingly, yes.
31 - Scene continues.
Morrigan: What she said is true, at least. I have the answer to your problem. I can match the Archdemon’s power, when the time comes. All that remains is for you to find Corypheus.
Scene ends.
Morrigan Drank (Old God Keiran)
Into the Eluvian
The PC approaches the eluvian in the gardens. It is active as they approach.
Leliana: Inquisitor! Thank the Maker you’re here! Morrigan chased after her son into the eluvian. She was terrified.
Dialogue options:
- General (did not speak to Morrigan in Skyhold): Morrigan has a son? [1]
- General: Chasing her son? [2]
- General: How did this happen? [3]
- General: But we need her! [4]
1 - General: Morrigan has a son? PC: Her son? Morrigan has a son? Leliana: A boy of ten years. She said he activated the mirror, and then she ran into it. [5]
2 - General: Chasing her son? PC: She was chasing Kieran? Leliana: She said he activated the mirror somehow, and then she ran into it. [5]
3 - General: How did this happen? PC: What? Why is the eluvian open? Leliana: It was open when I arrived. Morrigan said only that Kieran did it, then she ran into the mirror. [5]
4 - General: But we need her! PC: But we need her! She’s the one who drank from the Well! [5]
5 - Scene continues.
Leliana (recruited in DA:O): I’ve never seen Morrigan like that. Leliana (did not recruit Leliana in DA:O): I don’t think she expected this.
Leliana: You must go after her! I will find help, Inquisitor.
The PC passes through the Eluvian and enters the Fade.
PC: Wait… this isn’t the Crossroads. This is the Fade. How did the eluvian lead here? Can it go anywhere?
They see Morrigan in the distance.
PC: Morrigan!
Morrigan: Go back! I must find Kieran before it’s too late!
Morrigan: Why would Kieran do this? How could he do this? We stand in the Fade. To direct the eluvian here would require immense power. If he is lost to me, now after all I have sacrificed…
Dialogue options:
- General: We’ll find him. [6]
- General: He could be anywhere. [7]
- General: This wasn’t your plan? [8]
6 - General: We’ll find him. PC: We’ll find him, Morrigan. He can’t be far. Morrigan: The Fade is infinite. He could literally be anywhere. [9]
7 - General: He could be anywhere. PC: This is the Fade. He could be anywhere by now. Morrigan: You think I do not know that? PC: I mean you’re only going to get us both lost. [9]
8 - General: This wasn’t your plan? PC: So this isn’t what you intended when you asked me to come speak with you? Morrigan: (Laughs.) Yes, cleverly lure you into the Fade. My masterstroke. [9]
9 - Scene continues.
PC: What do the voices tell you, then?
Morrigan: Not a thing since I entered.
Morrigan: Whatever happens to him now, ’tis my doing. I set him on this path. Please help me look. Inquisitor. Just a little longer.
They spot Kieran in the distance.
Morrigan: There he is!
PC: Who’s with him?
Morrigan: That’s… no. It can’t be.
Old God Soul
The PC and Morrigan find Kieran in the Fade, with Flemeth kneeling in front of him.
Kieran: Mother!
Morrigan: Mother.
Flemeth: Now, isn’t this a surprise?
Dialogue options:
- General: Not a happy one, it seems. [1]
- General: A surprise… family reunion? [2]
- General: You took her son? [3]
1 - General: Not a happy one, it seems. PC: Clearly not the good sort of surprise. Flemeth: My lovely Morrigan has a flair for the dramatic. Thankfully, my grandson is more sensible. [4]
2 - General: A surprise… family reunion? PC: So this is all some kind of… family reunion? Flemeth: Mother, daughter, grandson. It rather warms the heart, does it not? [4]
3 - General: You took her son? PC: So you’re the one who took Morrigan’s son? Flemeth: Nonsense. He came to see his grandmother, like a good lad. I’m told sense often skips a generation. [4]
4 - Scene continues.
Morrigan: Kieran is not your grandson. Let him go!
Flemeth: As if I were holding the boy hostage. She’s always been ungrateful, you see.
Morrigan: Ungrateful? I know how you plan to extend your life, wicked crone! You will not have me, and you will not have my son!
Morrigan tries to attack Flemeth, but her magic is stopped.
Flemeth: That’s quite enough. You’ll endanger the boy.
Morrigan: What have you done to me?
Flemeth: I have done nothing. You drank from the Well of your own volition.
Morrigan: You… are Mythal.
Dialogue options:
- Stoic: She is? [5]
- Confused: That’s impossible! [6]
- Pleased: Pleased to meet you. [7]
5 - Stoic: She is? PC: Well. That was unexpected. Flemeth: You, of all people, should expect the unexpected by now. [12]
6 - Confused: That’s impossible! PC: You can’t be Mythal! That’s not possible! Flemeth: (Laughs.) Explain to me, dear [child], why I cannot be what I am.
Dialogue options:
- General (Dalish PC): I know what Mythal was. [8]
- General: You’re not even elven. [9]
- General: You’ re no god. [10]
- General: Mythal is long dead. [11]
17 - General: I know what Mythal was. PC: Mythal was the goddess of justice. I’ve seen the statues. She… Flemeth: Was one of the People. Yes, indeed. [12]
18 - General: You’re not even elven. PC: Mythal was an elven god. You, you’re… Flemeth: Human? Not a word many have used for me in a very long time. [12]
19 - General: You’ re no god. PC: I’m supposed to believe that you’re some kind of god? Flemeth: Clearly not the sort you had in mind, hmm? [12]
20 - General: Mythal is long dead. PC: Whatever Mythal was, she died long ago. Flemeth: So she did. [12]
7 - Pleased: Pleased to meet you. PC: You are? It’s very nice to finally meet you. Flemeth: You see, girl? Those are manners, as you require a demonstration. Morrigan: I require nothing from you but your death! Flemeth: You tried that once already, and see how far it got you? [12]
12 - Scene continues.
Kieran runs up to Morrigan.
Kieran: I’m sorry, Mother. I heard her calling to me. She said now was the time.
Morrigan: I do not understand.
Flemeth: Once I was but a woman, crying out in the lonely darkness for justice. And she came to me, a wisp of an ancient being, and she granted me all I wanted and more. I have carried Mythal through the ages ever since, seeking the justice denied to her.
Dialogue options:
- General: She’s inside you? [13]
- General: This is too much. [14]
- General: Maybe that was a demon. [15]
13 - General: She’s inside you? PC: Then… you carry Mythal inside you? Flemeth: She is a part of me, no more separate than your heart from your chest. [16]
14 - General: This is too much. PC: You can’t expect us to believe that. [16]
15 - General: Maybe that was a demon. PC: That could have been a demon, lying to you. [16]
16 - Scene continues.
Flemeth: You hear the voices of the Well, girl. What do they say? Morrigan closes her eyes, listening to the whispers.
Morrigan closes her eyes.
Morrigan: They… say you speak the truth.
Flemeth: But what was Mythal? A legend given name and called a god, or something more? Truth is not the end, but a beginning.
Flemeth (Dalish PC): So young and vibrant. You do the People proud and have come far. Flemeth (non-Dalish-PC): A herald, indeed. Shouting to the heavens, harbinger of a new age.
Flemeth: As for me, I have had many names. But you… may call me Flemeth.
17 - Dialogue options:
- History: I know who Flemeth is. [18]
- Special (Dalish PC): The elves needed you. [19]
- Investigate: Why stay secret? [20]
- General: Will you help us? [21]
- General: Is Morrigan your servant now? [22]
- General: What do you want? [23]
18 - History: I know who Flemeth is.
(Chuckles.) [25]
19 - Special: The elves needed you. PC: If Mythal is a part of you, why haven’t you helped us? We’ve called to you, prayed to you… Flemeth: What was could not be changed. PC: What about now? You know so much… Flemeth: You know not what you ask, child. [25]
20 - Investigate: Why stay secret? PC: If Mythal is within you, why not reveal yourself? Flemeth: And to whom should I reveal myself? PC: To the elves? To everyone? Flemeth: (Laughs.) I knew the hearts of men even before Mythal came to me. It is why she came to me. They do no want the truth, and I… I am but a shadow, lingering in the sun.
Dialogue options:
- Investigate: I need to understand. [24]
- [Back to 17]
24 - Investigate: I need to understand. [back to 17]
21 - General: Will you help us? PC: I presume you know what we’re up against. Flemeth: Better than you could possibly imagine. PC: So will you help us? Flemeth: Once I have what I came for. [25]
22 - General: Is Morrigan your servant now? PC: Did you come here to make Morrigan serve you? Flemeth: (Laughs.) Oh, what a servant she would make! Morrigan: Then what is it you want? Flemeth: One thing, and one thing only. [25]
23 - General: What do you want? PC: So you lured us here. What do you want? Flemeth: One thing, and one thing only. [25]
25 - Scene continues.
Kieran: I have to go now, Mother.
Morrigan: No. I will not allow it.
Flemeth: He carries a piece of what once was, snatched from the jaws of darkness. You know this.
Morrigan: He is not your pawn, Mother. I will not let you use him!
Flemeth: Have you not used him? Was that not your purpose, the reason you agreed to his creation?
Morrigan: That was then. Now he… he is my son.
Morrigan: Flemeth extends her life by possessing the bodies of her daughters, Inquisitor. That was the fate she intended for me. I thwarted her, and now she intends to have Kieran instead!
26 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: Is Kieran… special? [27]
- General: [Attack Flemeth.] [26]
- General: But he’s a child! [29]
- General: Is all this true? [30]
- General: We can’t stop her. [31]
27 - Investigate: Is Kieran… special? PC: Wait, the way she talked about Kieran… Flemeth: I am not the only one carrying the soul of a being long thought lost. Morrigan: He is more than that, Mother. Flemeth: As am I, yet do you hear me complain? Our destinies are not so easily avoided, dear girl. Kieran: Mother, I have to. Morrigan: You do not belong to her, Kieran. Neither of us do!
Dialogue options:
- Special: Why now? [32]
- [Back to 26]
32 - Special: Why now? PC: If Kieran is so special, why did you wait until now to come for him? Flemeth: I did not know where he was. Morrigan cleverly hid him from me… until now. Morrigan: ‘Twas the well… Flemeth: Always grasping beyond your reach, despite all that I taught you. [back to 26]
28 - General: [Attack Flemeth.] The PC attempts to attack Flemeth, but Morrigan stops them. Flemeth: How refreshing to see my lovely daughter so obedient. Morrigan: If she did not have this hold over me… Flemeth: Do not tempt me further. [33]
29 - General: But he’s a child! PC: Whatever else you think he is, Kieran is still a child! Flemeth: And so much better behaved than his mother was at his age. [33]
30 - General: Is all this true? PC: You’re… going to steal the body of a young boy? Flemeth: If my daughter believes it, than it must be so. [33]
31 - General: We can’t stop her. PC: There’s nothing we can do to stop her, Morrigan. Flemeth: My daughter struggles. I expected no less of her. [33]
33 - Scene continues.
Morrigan: Kieran, I…
Flemeth: As you wish. Hear my proposal, dear girl. Let me take the lad, and you are free of me forever. I will never interfere with or harm you again. Or, keep the lad with you… and you will never be safe from me. I will have my due.
[This is the default dialogue, I cannot find the exact plot flag difference between these.] Morrigan: He returns with me. Flemeth: Decided so quickly? Morrigan: Do whatever you wish. Take over my body now, if you must, but Kieran will be free of your clutches. I am many things, but I will not be the mother you were to me.
[This dialogue has a condition I cannot find.] Morrigan: I will take my chances. Flemeth: I found you once, girl. What makes you think I will not find you again? Morrigan: Take over my body now, if you must. Just let Kieran go. He will be better off without me, just as I was better off without you.
Flemeth turns to Kieran and takes something glowing from him.
Kieran: No more dreams?
Flemeth: No more dreams.
Kieran goes back to Morrigan.
Flemeth: A soul is not forced upon the unwilling, Morrigan. You were never in danger from me.
Flemeth: Listen to the voices. They will teach you… as I never did.
Flemeth leaves.
Morrigan: Wait!
The PC, Morrigan, and Kieran return through the Eluvian.
Morrigan: Are you all right, Kieran? You are not hurt?
Kieran: I feel lonely.
Kieran leaves after a moment.
Morrigan: She wanted the Old God soul all along. Is it worth reminding myself that perhaps I do not know everything after all? My mother has the soul of an elven goddess—or whatever “Mythal” truly was—and her plans are unknown to me.
34 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate - You really had no idea? [35]
- Investigate - What is this “Old God soul”? [36]
- General: You did the right thing. [37]
- General: I still can’t believe it. [38]
- General: So what now? [39]
35 - Investigate - You really had no idea? PC: You truly had no idea what she was? Morrigan: I knew she kept the truth from me. I even suspected she was not truly human… but this? I always thought the so-called “elven gods” were little more than glorified rulers, but now I have doubt. And doubt is… an uncomfortable thing, Inquisitor. Just be thankful you did not drink from the Well. I am evidently tied to my mother for eternity. [back to 34]
36 - Investigate - What is this “Old God soul”? PC: So Kieran had… the soul of an Old God? Morrigan: Taken from the Archdemon at the final battle of the Fifth Blight, yes. He has never known anything else. I am uncertain what effect this will have on him. PC But why did you… ? Morrigan: I told you at the temple. The magic of old must be preserved, no matter how feared. Kieran had a destiny, and now it is in Flemeth’s hands. I suppose we shall see what she does with it. [back to 34]
37 - General: You did the right thing. PC: For what it’s worth, I think you did the right thing. Morrigan: Did I? She was testing me, and I cannot tell whether I passed. [40]
38 - General: I still can’t believe it. PC: I must admit, I still can’t quite believe what happened. Morrigan: It is as if something from ancient times stretched a skeletal hand into our present. Of course, the same could be said of Corypheus. [40]
39 - General: So what now? PC: So what happens now? [40]
40 - Scene continues.
Morrigan deactivates the eluvian.
Morrigan: Now we must prepare to face Corypheus himself. It seems Mother was right. The voices of the Well tell me I will be able to match his dragon. All that remains is for you to find him.
Scene ends.
PC Drank (no Keiran)
The Altar of Mythal
The party arrives at a structure in the Arbor wilds.
PC: It’s here. I can feel it.
Party comments:
- Solas: Yes. I feel it as well.
- Cole: I can hear it. It’s calling to you.
- Dorian: Are you certain it’s still in one piece?
- Vivienne: There seems to be nothing out here but wilderness.
- Varric: You sure? There aren’t any ruins in these parts.
- Sera: Probably just a pile of rocks.
PC (after party comment): I’m sure it’s here. Just keep an eye out.
They enter the structure and see a large stature ahead.
PC: There it is!
They approach the altar.
PC: This is all that’s left of the altar. “We few who travel far, call to me, and I will come. Without mercy, without fear.”
Solas (if in party): “ Cry havoc in the moonlight, let the fire of vengeance burn, the cause is clear.”
Dialogue options:
- Arcane: I know what this place is. PC: Strange that there wasn’t an altar like this at Mythal’s temple. The temple was a place of justice, but this… is different. This was where the elves called to her. Spoke to her. Then one day she disappeared, and they had no one to speak to. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
- General: This place is beautiful. PC: It’s beautiful here. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
- General: Sounds ominous. PC: “Without mercy.” That’ll give anyone pause. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
- General: Let’s get this done. PC: Call, and she will come–simple enough.
Party comments:
- Cassandra: Do you need to do this alone?
- Vivienne: Would it be better if we left, my dear?
- Iron Bull: You want us to piss off you you can get to it?
- Blackwall: This ritual… should we leave you alone?
- Dorian: Do you need help, or should we leave?
- Sera: Right. I’m out.
- Varric: You want us to stick around, or should we leave?
- Cole: Should we go? I think we should go.
- Solas: Should I leave you?
PC: Don’t go too far. I may need your help, if there’s trouble.
The party leaves, and Morrigan approaches.
Morrigan: You will perform this mysterious summoning alone, Inquisitor? Very bold.
Dialogue options:
- General: Are you here to help? [1]
- General: Couldn’t resist, I see. [2]
- General: Alone means “without you.” [3]
1 - General: Are you here to help? PC: Did you come here to help, or to satisfy your curiosity? Morrigan: I am eager to see what manner of creature responds to your call. Who would not be? [4]
2 - General: Couldn’t resist, I see. PC: Just couldn’t stay away, could you? Morrigan: I am eager to see what manner of creature responds to your call. Who would not be? [4]
3 - General: Alone means “without you.” PC: That means you also need to leave. Morrigan: And do you even know what manner of creature will answer your call? [4]
4 - Scene continues.
PC: The voices say it will be Mythal.
Morrigan: And what is Mythal, beyond something thousands of years dead and gone?
The PC closes their eyes.
PC: They say you can remain.
Morrigan: How very hospitable of them.
PC: You know who I am: the last to drink from your Well of Sorrows. Come to me, Mythal. Whatever you are, whoever remains, I invoke your name and your power.
They begin to pace in front of the altar, and Flemeth appears.
Morrigan: Mother.
PC: “Mother”?
Flemeth: Now, isn’t this a surprise?
Dialogue options:
- General: This is Mythal? [5]
- General: You know her? [6]
- General: What’s going on here? [7]
5 - General: This is Mythal? PC: So this is Mythal? Morrigan: She is a deceiving witch! [8]
6 - General: You know her? PC: I take it you know her? Morrigan: She is a deceiving witch! [8]
7 - General: What’s going on here? PC: What’s wrong? Morrigan: We have been deceived! [8]
8 - Scene continues.
Morrigan attempts to attack.
Flemeth: (Sighs.) Be a good [lad/lass] and restrain her.
The PC grabs her.
Morrigan: What are you doing? What… are you doing?
PC: I don’t know!
Flemeth: Of course you know. You drank from the Well, did you not?
Morrigan: Then… you are Mythal?
Dialogue options
- Stoic: She is? [9]
- Confused: You’re not even an elf! [10]
- Angry: You’re no god. [11]
- Pleased: I welcome you.[12]
- Angry: Release me! [13]
9 - Stoic: She is? PC: That’s Mythal? Flemeth: You invoke that name so easily. I wonder if you know what it means? [14]
10 - Confused: You’re not even an elf!
11 - Angry: You’re no god. PC: I’m supposed to believe that you’re some kind of god? Flemeth: Clearly not the sort you had in mind, hmm? [14]
12 - Pleased: I welcome you. PC: If that’s true, then I thank you for answering my summons. Flemeth: You see, girl? Those are manners, as you require a demonstration. [14]
13 - Angry: Release me! PC: Whatever hold you have over me, release it now! Flemeth: That is entirely up to my dear daughter. [14]
14 - Scene continues.
- General: That could be a demon. [16]
- General: Why should we trust you? [17]
15 - General: She’s a part of you? PC: Then… you carry Mythal inside you? Flemeth: She is a part of me, no more separate than your heart from your chest. [18]
16 - General: That could be a demon. PC: That could have been a demon, lying to you. [18]
17 - General: Why should we trust you? PC: You can say anything you like. Why should we trust you? [18]
18 - Scene continues.
Flemeth: What do the voices tell you?
The PC closes their eyes to hear the voices.
PC: They say you speak the truth.
Flemeth: But what was Mythal? A legend given name and called a god, or something more? Truth is not the end, but a beginning.
Flemeth (Dalish PC): So young and vibrant. You do the People proud and have come far. Flemeth (non-Dalish PC): A herald, indeed. Shouting to the heavens, harbinger of a new age.
Flemeth: As for me, I have had many names. But you… may call me Flemeth.
19 - Dialogue options:
- History: I know who Flemeth is. [20]
- Special (Dalish PC): The elves needed you. [21]
- Investigate: Why stay secret? [22]
- General: Will you help us? [23]
- General: This was no accident. [24]
- General: So what now? [25]
20 - History: I know who Flemeth is.
(Chuckles.) [26]
21 - Special: The elves needed you. PC: If Mythal is a part of you, why haven’t you helped us? We’ve called to you, prayed to you… Flemeth: What was could not be changed. PC: What about now? You know so much… Flemeth: You know not what you ask, child. [26]
22 - Investigate: Why stay secret? PC: If Mythal is within you, why not reveal yourself? Flemeth: And to whom should I reveal myself? PC: To the elves? To everyone? Flemeth: (Laughs.) I knew the hearts of men even before Mythal came to me. It is why she came to me. They do no want the truth, and I… I am but a shadow, lingering in the sun. [26]
Dialogue options:
- Investigate: I need to understand. [26]
- [Back to 19]
26 - Investigate: I need to understand. [back to 19]
23 - Will you help us? PC: We summoned you because we need your help. Flemeth: Against the magister who grasps beyond his reach. Yes, I know. [26]
24 - General: This was no accident. This meeting was no accident, was it? Flemeth: Clever [lad/girl]. Morrigan: The voices… came from you? Flemeth: The price of the Well seemed no dire thing when you saw so much gain, hmm? [26]
25 - General: So what now? PC: So what happens now? [26]
26 - Scene continues.
Flemeth: The voices did not lie, Inquisitor. I can help you. The altar’s guardian will come. Master the dragon, and it will be yours to command against Corypheus. Fail, and die.
She begins to leave.
Morrigan: Wait!
Flemeth: I wished to see who drank from the Well of Sorrows. It has been a very long time.
Flemeth: Now I have, and [they are] free to go.
Morrigan: But what of us?
Flemeth: A soul is not forced upon the unwilling, Morrigan. You were never in danger from me.
Flemeth leaves.
Morrigan: All things considered, Inquisitor, I now am rather pleased you drank from the well.
Dialogue options:
- General: I’m not. [27]
- General: That was bizarre. [28]
- General: I hope this was worth it. [29]
27 - General: I’m not. PC: I’m not. What have I gotten myself into? Morrigan: Service to a being not quite as dead-and-gone as we thought. Now, I believe, you have a guardian of the altar to master.
28 - General: That was bizarre. PC: That was all… rather odd. Morrigan: Yes, well, Mother has always had that effect on people. Now, I believe, you have a guardian of the altar to master.
29 - General: I hope this was worth it. PC: All this had better be worth it. Morrigan: You will discover that shortly, I suspect.
A dragon descends, and the party fights it. The PC walks up to it and there is a glow, then the dragon flies away.
Party Comments:
- Dorian: If I hadn’t seen it, I wouldn’t have believed it.
- Blackwall: You stared it down. You actually stared it down!
- Vivienne: And now it flies off? Just like that?
- Iron Bull: Okay, yeah, that was impressive.
- Cassandra: Why did it fly off? Will it come back?
PC: It will come when I summon it. Once. That’s enough to fight Corypheus, however. I have my dragon.
Party Comments:
- Sera: So, when we find him, we’ll fight between two dragons? Mad plan. Love it.
- Solas: Now we need only find Corypheus.
- Cole: Now you find Corypheus. Before he finds you.
- Varric: All you need now is Corypheus, and bam! Dragon fight!
The party returns to Skyhold.
PC Drank (Old God Keiran)
Into the Eluvian
The PC approaches the eluvian in the gardens. It is active, and Leliana stands nearby.
PC: But the voices from the Well said we need her!
Morrigan: You drank from the Well, Inquisitor. What do the voices tell you now?
PC: Nothing. They’re completely silent.
*The PC and Morrigan find Kieran in the Fade, with Flemeth kneeling in front of him.
2 - General: A surprise… family reunion? PC: So this is all some kind of… family reunion? Flemeth: Mother, daughter, grandson. It rather warms the heart, does it not?
3 - General: You took her son? PC: So you’re the one who took Morrigan’s son? Flemeth: Nonsense. He came to see his grandmother, like a good lad. I’m told sense often skips a generation.
Morrigan tries to attack Flemeth.
Flemeth: (Sighs.) Be a good [lad/lass] and restrain her.
The PC grabs Morrigan
Morrigan: What are you doing? What… are you doing?
PC: I don’t know!
Flemeth: Of course you know. You drank from the Well, did you not?
Morrigan: You… are Mythal.
Dialogue options:
- Stoic: She is? [5]
- Confused: That’s impossible! [6]
- Pleased: Pleased to meet you. [7]
- Angry: Release me! [8]
5 - Stoic: She is? PC: Well. That was unexpected. Flemeth: You, of all people, should expect the unexpected by now. [13]
6 - Confused: That’s impossible! PC: You can’t be Mythal! That’s not possible! Flemeth: (Laughs.) Explain to me, dear [child], why I cannot be what I am.
Dialogue options:
- General (Dalish PC): I know what Mythal was. [9]
- General: You’re not even elven. [10]
- General: You’ re no god. [11]
- General: Mythal is long dead. [12]
9 - General: I know what Mythal was. PC: Mythal was the goddess of justice. I’ve seen the statues. She… Flemeth: Was one of the People. Yes, indeed. [13] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 10 - General: You’re not even elven. PC: Mythal was an elven god. You, you’re… Flemeth: Human? Not a word many have used for me in a very long time. [13] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 11 - General: You’ re no god. PC: I’m supposed to believe that you’re some kind of god? Flemeth: Clearly not the sort you had in mind, hmm? [13] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 12 - General: Mythal is long dead. PC: Whatever Mythal was, she died long ago. Flemeth: So she did. [13]
8 - Angry: Release me! PC: Whatever hold you have over me, release it now! Flemeth: That is entirely up to my dear daughter. [13]
13 - Scene continues.
- General: This is too much. [15]
- General: Maybe that was a demon. [16]
14 - General: She’s inside you? PC: Then… you carry Mythal inside you? Flemeth: She is a part of me, no more separate than your heart from your chest. [17]
15 - General: This is too much. PC: You can’t expect us to believe that. [17]
16 - General: Maybe that was a demon. PC: That could have been a demon, lying to you. [17]
17 - Scene continues.
Flemeth: What do the voices tell you?
The PC closes their eyes.

Flemeth: As for me, I have had many names. But you… may call me Flemeth.
18 - Dialogue options:

24 - Investigate: I need to understand. 22 - General: Will you help us? PC: I presume you know what we’re up against. Flemeth: Better than you could possibly imagine. PC: So will you help us? Flemeth: Once I have what I came for. [25]
23 - General: What do you want? PC: So you lured us here. What do you want? Flemeth: One thing, and one thing only. [25]
25 - Scene contiunes.
- General: But he’s a child! [28]
- General: Is all this true? [29]
- General: We can’t stop her. [30]
- [Back to 26]
31 - Special: Why now? PC: If Kieran is so special, why did you wait until now to come for him? Flemeth: I did not know where he was. Morrigan cleverly hid him from me… until now. Morrigan: ‘Twas the well… Flemeth: Be thankful you did not drink. Imagine, bound to your dear mother for all eternity. (Laughs.) [back to 26]
28 - General: But he’s a child! PC: Whatever else you think he is, Kieran is still a child! Flemeth: And so much better behaved than his mother was at his age. [32]
29 - General: Is all this true? PC: You’re… going to steal the body of a young boy? Flemeth: If my daughter believes it, than it must be so. [32]
30 - General: We can’t stop her. PC: There’s nothing we can do to stop her, Morrigan. Flemeth: My daughter struggles. I expected no less of her. [32]
32 - Scene continues.
Flemeth turns to Kieran and takes somethin glowing from him.
Kieran: No more dreams?
Flemeth: No more dreams.
Kieran goes back to Morrigan.
Flemeth: A soul is not forced upon the unwilling, Morrigan. You were never in danger from me.
She turns to the PC.
Flemeth: As for you, Inquisitor, there is an ancient altar deep within a shaded wood. Go to it. Summon the dragon that is its guardian. Master it in combat, and it is yours to command against Corypheus. Fail, and die.
Flemeth leaves.
Morrigan: Wait!
33 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate - You really had no idea? [34]
- Investigate - What is this “Old God soul”? [35]
- General: You did the right thing. [36]
- General: I still can’t believe it. [37]
- General: So what now? [38]
34 - Investigate - You really had no idea? PC: You truly had no idea what she was? Morrigan: I knew she kept the truth from me. I even suspected she was not truly human… but this? I always thought the so-called “elven gods” were little more than glorified rulers, but now I have doubt. And doubt is… an uncomfortable thing, Inquisitor. I suppose I should be thankful you drank from the Well. Eternal servitude to Mother would not be my first choice. [back to 33]
35 - Investigate - What is this “Old God soul”? PC: So Kieran had… the soul of an Old God? Morrigan: Taken from the Archdemon at the final battle of the Fifth Blight, yes. He has never known anything else. I am uncertain what effect this will have on him. PC But why did you… ? Morrigan: I told you at the temple. The magic of old must be preserved, no matter how feared. Kieran had a destiny, and now it is in Flemeth’s hands. I suppose we shall see what she does with it. [back to 33]
36 - General: You did the right thing. PC: For what it’s worth, I think you did the right thing. Morrigan: Did I? She was testing me, and I cannot tell whether I passed. [39]
37 - General: I still can’t believe it. PC: I must admit, I still can’t quite believe what happened. Morrigan: It is as if something from ancient times stretched a skeletal hand into our present. Of course, the same could be said of Corypheus. [39]
38 - General: So what now? PC: So what happens now? [39]
39 - Scene continues.
Morrigan deactivates the eluvian.
Morrigan: Mother said you must summon a dragon at an ancient altar. Do you know where that is?
PC: I… think so. It’s a place dedicated to Mythal.
Morrigan: As, no doubt, is the guardian you must battle. Pray my mother has not lead you astray, Inquisitor. She is not above doing so for her own amusement.
Scene ends.
They approach the altar, and PC paces in front of it.
PC: This is all that’s left of the altar. “We few who travel far, call to me, and I will come. Without mercy, without fear.”
Solas (if in party): “Cry havoc in the moonlight, let the fire of vengeance burn, the cause is clear.” A very old invocation, perfectly translated.
PC: I’m here, Flemeth. Just as you told me. If I must master a dragon to fight Corypheus, then send it.
