A New Agent

Noble 1: Did you need something?
Noble 2: This is a private conversation.

The PC eavesdrops.

Noble 1: You must be mistaken.

Noble 2: No, I’m quite certain it was blood on the tiles.

Noble 1: If they’re playing the Game, they’re not doing it very well. You don’t leave evidence if you play to win.

The PC continues to listen.

Noble 1: You only say that because you fancy the empress’s pet apostate. It sickens me to think of the chaos those malficarum are causing across the empire.

Noble 2: Even you cannot deny that the templars abandoned the faithful in their darkest hour. How can you condone that? They are the ones who should be brought to heel, if you ask me.

Dialogue options:

  • General: I favor leashing templars too. [1]
  • General: I agree about stopping mages. [2]
  • General: I didn’t mean to intrude. [3]

1 - General: I favor leashing templars too. PC: Did I hear correctly? If you’re interested in bringing the templars to heel, you may have found an ally.

Noble 2: Didn’t you recruit them for the rank and file of your Inquisition? PC: Someone had to remind them—sternly—of their duty. Noble 2: A sensible solution. I will get in touch with your Lady Nightingale. I have… assets… that might benefit your cause. [4]

Noble 2: If that’s true, I would welcome an alliance with the Inquisition. [4]

2 - General: I agree about stopping mages. PC: If I heard correctly, you’d like to stop the rebel mages? We share a common goal. Noble 1: I thought you had formed an alliance with the reel leader Fiona. PC: The rebels have been reigned in. They will be kept under watch. Noble 1: My steward will contact your ambassador. I have skilled people who could be put to great use. [4]

Noble 1: We have had enough of the pyres and the raids and the constant threat of violence. [4]

3 - General: I didn’t mean to intrude. PC: My apologies. I didn’t mean to bother you. Gentlemen. [4]

4 - Scene continues.

PC: Gentlemen.

Noble 1: Enjoy the ball, Inquisitor. I will contact you presently.

Noble 2: We will be in touch.
