The Signing Blade

Harding: I wasn’t expecting to be back here so soon.

Neve: I wasn’t expecting to be back here at all.

Harding: It’ll be okay. Just gotta keep my mind on the dagger.

Neve: That’s right. Keep your mind on the job and there’s no room for anything else.

Harding: Has that worked for you lately?

Neve: (Laughs) Can’t say it has.

Harding: Oh. I didn’t realize we left it in ruins.

Neve: We had other things to worry about.

Harding: Did Solas tell you anything else about the dagger?

Rook: Not much. He said it was his back in ancient times. Then he lost it.

Rook: Looks like broken glass.

Neve: Elven artifacts. Probably shattered during Solas’s ritual.

Harding: Oh, yeah. Fade Globes. Solas had Inquisition scouts look out for them.

Rook: How well did you know him?

Harding: I trusted him, because we all did. But I never knew him, I suppose. He was always distant. Like his head was in the Fade. Now I wonder if he ever saw me. Or cared, even a little.

Rook: I think I see something. That glow…

Rook: We’re going to need to get through this.

Neve: Leave it to me.

Rook: Two blighted gods escaped. Of course blighted creatures would follow.

Harding: They must’ve showed up after the elven gods escaped.

Neve: You think the gods escaping brought darkspawn to the surface.

Rook: They rarely come up from underground unless there’s a Blight, or something else calls to them.

Neve: Like blighted gods. Aren’t darkspawn usually underground?

Harding: Yeah, they’re not supposed to come to the surface unless there’s a Blight.

Rook: We’re not in a Blight.

Neve: Maybe they don’t know that. Or maybe some blighted gods grabbed their attention.

Harding: Well, they’ll swarm us if given a chance, so let’s be careful.

Harding: Look here! These tracks lead farther into the ruins.

Rook: Ghoul tracks.

Harding: I can’t tell for sure, but I think these were made by a ghoul. Let’s follow. There’s a chance it has the dagger.

Harding: More darkspawn incoming!

Harding: (Gasps) What was that thing? I’ve never seen a darkspawn like that before.

Rook: It’s definitely bigger than other darkspawn. And spikier. I don’t know, but I don’t like it.

Harding: The tracks head down that slope.

Rook: That… that’s a little steep.

Harding: That’s blight, and it’s blocking the path.

Rook: The tracks lead right to this wall. They must’ve gone through here.

Neve: Let’s get that gate open. We’ll pick up the trail on the other side.

Rook: Here! The tracks go this way!

Harding: Look! Another one of those magical beams!

Harding: There are two of these devices this time. I bet we’ll need to direct beams at both of them.

Harding: This isn’t doing anything! I can’t seem to get through!

Rook: Try hitting the boil!

Rook: Tell me that’s not you!

Harding: I don’t know!

Neve: Is that magic? Are you using magic, Lace?

Harding: I’m not!

Rook: That… that thing. That wasn’t happening this morning.

Harding: Yeah, I know!

Harding: This feels… right.

The Enemy of My Enemy

Rook: Okay, this could work. Better place to sleep than the infirmary.

Varric: You backed me, and I appreciated it, but it turned out I was wrong.

Rook: Harding might. Rook: Neve might.
