The Breach Returns

The PC enters the war room with Morrigan.

Choice dependent dialogue:

  • Morrigan drank [1]
  • PC drank (Old God Kieran) [2]
  • PC drank (no Kieran) [3]

1 - Morrigan drank Leliana: Did you… find what you need, Morrigan?

Morrigan: I can match the darkspawn magister’s dragon, yes. As for matching Corypheus… that is up to you, Inquisitor.

Dialogue options:

  • General: I’ll do my best. PC: Believe me, I know. [7] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
  • General: If we get the chance. PC: We don’t even know where he is. [7] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
  • General: I look forward to it. PC: I’m eager to try. [7]

2 - PC drank (Old God Kieran) Leliana: Did you… find what you need, Inquisitor?

Dialogue options:

  • General: I hope so. PC: I certainly hope so. [7] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
  • General: I found a lot of things. PC: I found that and then some, believe me. [7] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
  • General: I can match the dragon. I can match the dragon. Corypheus is another story. [7]

3 - PC drank (no Kieran) Leliana: Was the summoning… successful, Inquisitor?

Dialogue options:

  • General: I wish I could tell you. [4]
  • General: You wouldn’t believe me. [5]
  • General: I have what we need. [6]

4 - General: I wish I could tell you. PC: If I could answer that, I would. Leliana: But you found what you needed. PC: I did. [7]

5 - General: You wouldn’t believe me. PC: You wouldn’t believe me if I told you. Leliana: But you found what you needed. PC: I did. [7]

6 - General: I have what we need. PC: Let’s just say I have what I need. [7]

7 - Scene continues.

Cullen: Then all that remains is to find Corypheus before he comes to us.

Leliana: We’ve been looking for his base since all this began, with no success.

Cullen: His dragon must come and go from somewhere.

Josephine: What about the Deep Roads? We could send word to Orzammar, hire envoys to–

The room begins to glow green from light that pours in from the window and the anchor flares. The Breach reopens in the sky.

Morrigan drank: Morrigan: It seems Corypheus is not content to wait. PC: He’s in the Valley of Sacred Ashes? Morrigan: You either close the Breach once more, or it swallows the world.

PC drank: PC: Corypheus. Leliana: He did that? But why? PC: Either I close the Breach again, or it swallows the world.

Josephine: But that’s madness! Wouldn’t it kill him as well?

There is a pause.

Cullen: Inquisitor, we have no forces to send with you–we must wait for them to return from the Arbor Wilds.

Dialogue options:

  • General: I must go now. PC: I must go now, before it’s too late. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
  • General: He knows that. PC: Just as Corypheus expects, I suppose. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
  • General: It’s better this way. PC: Then I face him alone.

Scene ends.

Your New God

Rocks begin to float in a landscape of red lyrium and rubble. Corypheus stands in front of some injured Inquisition soldiers.

Corypheus: Tell me, where is you Maker now? Call him. Call his wrath upon me. You cannot, for he does not exist. I am Corypheus. I shall deliver you from this lie in which you linger. Bow before your new god and be spared.

Soldier: Never!

Corypheus: As you wish.

There is a large explosion that sends the soldiers flying, and demons appear from the Fade as the PC arrives with Lace Harding and their party.

Corypheus: I knew you would come.

PC: It ends here, Corypheus.

Corypheus: And so it shall.

The ruins rise into the sky, and Harding falls from the platform.

Corypheus: You have been most successful in foiling my plans, but let us not forget what you are. A thief, in the wrong place at the wrong time. An interloper. A gnat. We shall prove here, once and for all, which of us is worth of godhood.

Dialogue options:

  • General (PC claimed chosen): The Maker is with me. PC: I’m the Maker’s chosen. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
  • General (non-faithful/non-religious PC): I don’t believe in gods. PC: I don’t believe in gods. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
  • General: I will stop you. PC: I came here to stop you, Corypheus. Nothing more. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
  • General: I’m not proving anything. PC: I didn’t come here to become a god, Corypheus. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
  • General: You talk too much. PC: You’re not proving anything by talking.

They stare at each other, and Corypheus summons his archdemon. Mythal’s dragon swoops in.

Corypheus: You dare.

The Final Battle

Corypheus: A dragon. How clever of you. It will avail you nothing. You will fall as a warning to those who oppose my divine will!

General taunts:

  • Corypheus: I shall sear you from the very heavens!
  • Corypheus: You dare to touch an avatar of divinity!
  • Corypheus: Feel my wrath, little wretch!
  • Corypheus: As you wish!
  • Corypheus: Enough! I will destroy you where you stand!
  • Corypheus: I will not stand for this outrage!
  • Corypheus: If you desire death, you shall have it!

Race specific taunts:

  • Corypheus (Qunari PC): What do they call you? A “Qunari”? Your blood is engorged with decay. Your “race” is not a race—it is a mistake!
  • Corypheus (dwarf PC): You think to best me? A runted dirt-worshiper? Your people have ever been the sand beneath Tevinter heels!
  • Corypheus (Dalish PC, vallaslin removed): In my time we, called your people “rattus.” You are nothing. A race of sniveling cowards that shrank before Tevinter power!
  • Corypheus (Dalish PC, still has vallaslin): Look at you, wearing slave markings on your face with pride. You are nothing. A race of sniveling cowards that shrank before Tevinter power!
  • Corypheus (human mage PC): You think to best me with your feeble magicks? You are nothing! All you love will be ground under the Imperium’s heel!
  • Corypheus (human non-mage PC): Look at you, a soporati nipping at the heels of your betters! You are nothing! All you love will be ground under the Imperium’s heel!

The dragons are giving chase in the sky above, fighting until then spiral into the ground.

Morrigan drank: Morrigan collapses on the ground, bleeding and unconscious as Corypheus’s dragon approaches.

If PC is alone: PC: Morrigan! Is she dead?

Party comments:

  • Solas: Morrigan lives! We must go to her aid!
  • Dorian: Morrigan must be alive! We must reach her!
  • Vivienne: The witch lives! Inquisitor, we must get to her!
  • Cassandra: Morrigan could still be alive! We have to help her!
  • Blackwall: The witch could be alive! We have to help her!
  • Sera: Did Morrigan go tits-up? We should check!
  • Varric: Morrigan might still be alive! We should check!
  • Cole: She’s hurt, but not dead! We have to help her!
  • Iron Bull: Dragon-lady might still be alive! We should help her!

PC: There’s a dragon trying to kill us!

Party comments:

  • Iron Bull: Yeah, which is why we want our own dragon up and fighting!
  • Solas: All the better to revive our own!
  • Cassandra: And one there who will help us, if she lives!
  • Blackwall: Then we need to revive our own!
  • Dorian: Yes! So let’s wake up ours!
  • Vivienne: Yes, and Morrigan is the only one who can stop it!
  • Sera: Then let’s get Morrigan to kill it back!
  • Varric: I didn’t say it would be easy!
  • Cole: Yes. But don’t we have a dragon, too?

PC drank:

If PC is alone: PC: The dragon’s dead!

Party comments:

  • Solas: The dragon has fallen! PC: I can see that!
  • Dorian: It killed the dragon! We’re dragon-less! PC: I can see that!
  • Cassandra: The dragon! It’s dead! PC: I can see that!
  • Blackwall: The dragon is dead! What do we do? PC: The Archdemon’s coming! We must fight!
  • Sera: Pissballs! Your dragon! PC: I can see that!
  • Varric: What now? Any more dragons to pull out of your ass? PC: No! You? Varric: Not today!
  • Cole: Our dragon is dead! PC: Thank you, Cole! Very helpful!
  • Vivienne: It killed the dragon! PC: I can see that!
  • Iron Bull: Ah, crap. So much for our dragon! PC: The Archdemon’s coming! We must fight!

The dragon falls as the PC slashes at it’s neck, and a ball of energy rises from it and is absorbed into Corypheus.

Corypheus: So be it. Let it end here. Let the skies boil. Let the world be rent asunder.

The PC chases him up some stairs.

Taunts:

  • Corypheus: No! I will not allow you this victory! You and all the heathen barbarians shall burn!
  • Corypheus: I will not yet fall!
  • Corypheus: I need only moments more!
  • Corypheus: (Screams.) I will not allow it!
  • Corypheus: Grant me power to finish this last rite!

If Cole is in party, made more spirit: Corypheus: You dare come before me, demon? I will bind you, as I have bound so many before! Cole: I am unbound, and you are undone. Corypheus: Then die with the others.

If Cole is in party, made more human: Corypheus: You dare come before me, demon? I will bind you, as I have bound so many before! Cole: I am no demon… and you are no god! Corypheus: Then die with the others.

PC: The Breach is getting bigger!

Party comments:

  • Dorian: He’s really doing it! We have to stop him!
  • Vivienne: So it is—kill him before he destroys the Veil!
  • Varric: And then the Fade swallows the world, right?
  • Cassandra: It will endanger the world! We must stop this!
  • Blackwall: We should do something about that!
  • Iron Bull: Not on our watch!
  • Sera: Had enough of him frigging with my sky!

Corypheus: And this is the “Warden” of which I’ve been told so much? Delightful. Blackwall: Fight while you can, demon!

Corypheus: A pike shall hold your head before the gates of the Grand Cathdral, Seeker! Cassandra: We shall see about that!

Corypheus: You were a fool to come, Qunari. You shall be slaughtered like your namesake. Iron Bull: Big threats! Let’s see you back them up.

Corypheus: Is this ragged mage another ally? One more rattus emerged from the garbage? Solas: You cannot win, Corypheus.

Corypheus: You shall be dealt with harshly, Tevinter. The Imperium suffers no traitors! Dorian: Your Imperium will never be mine, monster!

Corypheus: You placed your bet on the wrong champion, Chantry mage! You are a fool. Vivienne: And you are a relic, best forgotten!

Corypheus: A beardless stone-worshipper? Run as fast as your little legs can take you! Varric: So you’re reduced to dwarf jokes now?

Corypheus: Begone demon! I shall plunge your essence into an abyss from which it will never return! Cole: Never!

Corypheus: I shall wear your ears as a trophy when this is done, rattus! Sera: Ugh! Now it’s talking to me!

The party finally defeats Corypheus, the orb growing wildly unstable.

Corypheus: Not like this! I have walked the halls of the Golden City, crossed the ages… Dumat! Ancient ones! I beseech you! If you exist–if you ever truly existed–aid me now!

The PC stands, the anchor glowing, and the orb flies to their hand. They close the Breach, and the orb falls.

PC: You wanted into the Fade?

The PC opens a rift that sucks Corypheus in, and the ruins begin to crumble. The party runs and the scene fades to black.

Victory

Solas approaches the orb, which has been shattered and kneels, picking up the pieces.. The PC walks up to him.

PC: Solas?

Solas: The orb.

Dialogue options:

  • General: I’m sorry. [1]
  • General: It can’t be repaired? [2]
  • General: But Corypheus is dead. [3]

1 - General: I’m sorry. PC (spoke with Solas post WPHW): I know you wanted the orb saved. I’m so sorry. PC (did not speak to Solas after WPHW): I understand why you wanted to save such an important artifact. Solas: It is not your fault. [4]

2 - General: It can’t be repaired? PC: Are you sure? We could takes the pieces, try to… Solas: That would not recover what has been lost. [4]

3 - General: But Corypheus is dead. PC: Corypheus is dead. That’s the important thing. Solas: Yet so much has been lost. [4]

4 - Scene continues.

Solas places the pieces back on the ground and stands.

If Solas has high approval: PC: There’s more, isn’t there? Solas: It was not supposed to happen this way. Solas (angry breakup): You were right to be angry. I hope, in time, you will understand. Solas (romanced): No matter what comes, I want you to know that what we had was real. Solas (not romanced): No matter what comes, I want you to know you shall always have my respect.

Cassandra: Inquisitor? Are you alive?

The PC returns to the rest of the party.

Party comments:

  • Morrigan (if she drank from the Well): Victorious, I see. What a novel result.
  • Vivienne: Then it’s over? How lovely.
  • Cole: We won.
  • Varric: Don’t tell me we won.
  • Cassandra: We are victorious.

Party comments (romanced):

  • Blackwall: And you live. I can breathe again.
  • Sera: And you managed not to kill yourself. That’s something.
  • Cassandra: And you survive. Thank the Maker.
  • Dorian: And you’re alive. And I’m alive! Incredible, isn’t it?
  • Iron Bull: And look at you, all not-dead. Nice work, kadan.

Party comments:

  • Morrigan (if she drank from the Well): And it seems the Breach is finally closed.
  • Cole: And the sky is healed, healthy… whole. There’s just that left to remember.
  • Iron Bull: And the Breach is closed up, too.
  • Varric: And the Breach is closed for good?
  • Cassandra: and the Breach is closed once more.

PC: Looks that way.

Cassandra: What do we do now?

The PC looks back to where Solas was, but he is gone.

PC: We go back to Skyhold.

Scene cuts to black.

Return to Skyhold

The party returns to Skyhold, and the PC climbs the steps to where the advisors are standing.

If romancing Josephine or Cullen, they embrace on the steps. If romancing another companion, they shake hands with Cullen while the romance looks on. If no romance/Solas romance, Varric watches as the PC shakes Cullen’s hand.

The crowd cheers as they head inside. Leliana approaches the PC

Leliana: A moment, my [lord/lady]. My agents have found no trace of Solas. He has simply vanished. If he does not wish to be found, there’s likely nothing we can do. But I will keep looking.

Dialogue options:

  • Sad (romanced): Why would he do this? [1]
  • Stoic (low approval): He had no reason to stay. [2]
  • Sad (high approval): Something’s not right. [3]
  • Confused: It’s so strange. [4]
  • Stoic: It’s not important. [5]

1 - Sad: Why would he do this? PC: I just don’t understand. He didn’t even say goodbye. Leliana: The two of you were close. Perhaps he had no choice? He might return at any moment. PC: Maybe. [6]

2 - Stoic: He had no reason to stay. PC: It’s not such a mystery. We weren’t on the best of terms. Leliana: True, though I still find it peculiar. [6]

3 - Sad: Something’s not right. PC: Why would he just leave? Something must be wrong. Leliana: You said he was upset about the orb. PC: That can’t be the only reason. [6]

4 - Confused: It’s so strange. PC: It’s odd that he would just leave without a word. [6]

5 - Stoic: It’s not important. PC: It’s not worth worrying about. Leliana: As you wish, Inquisitor. [6]

6 - Scene continues.

Leliana: Now that Corypheus has been defeated, we have a moment to stop and celebrate. Afterwards you will be busy. Every noble in southern Thedas is clamoring to meet you.

7 - Dialogue options:

Investigate: Meet me? Why? [8] General: I fought because I had to. [9] General: Now they’re eager. [10] General: Well, we did win. [11]

8 - Investigate: Meet me? Why? PC: The fighting’s over. Why do they want to meet me now? Leliana: (Chuckles.) You’re joking, yes? They wish to bask in the glory of your victory, hoping that some of it will rub off on them.

Leliana (Celine rules): Everyone knows Empress Celene owes you her life. And her throne. Leliana(Gaspard/Briala rules): Everyone knows Gaspard owes you his throne. The greatest empire in Thedas is at your beck and call.

Leliana: A thousand problems remain, and your opinion will be sought on each one–whether you wish to give it or not. [back to 7]

9 - General: I fought because I had to. PC: I don’t see what the fuss is about. Corypheus needed to be stopped. Leliana: And you are the one who stopped him. [12]

10 - General: Now they’re eager. PC: (Chuckles.) Oh, now they’re lining up to meet me. Leliana: Such is the way of things. [12]

11 - General: Well, we did win. PC: As the saying goes: to the victor go the spoils. Leliana: They see more than victory. [12]

12 - Scene continues.

Leliana (Qunari PC): Previously you were an upstart, a fearsome Qunari in charge of rebels and heretics. Leliana (Dalish PC): Previously you were an upstart, a Dalish elf leading a band of rebels and heretics. Leliana (dwarf PC): Previously you were an upstart—a dwarf, of all things—leading rebels and heretics. Leliana (human mage PC): Previously you were an upstart—a mage, of all things—leading rebels and heretics. Leliana (human non-mage PC): Previously you were an upstart, nothing more than a leader of rebels and heretics.

Leliana: Until Corypheus revealed himself, they could not see the single hand behind the chaos. Once he did, they knew: a magister and a darkspawn in one creature. The ultimate evil. Now you are the only power left standing. Enjoy the evening while you can, Inquisitor.

The PC enters the main hall, and can speak with the companions and advisors there. If they are not in a romance, or romanced Solas, they retire to their quarters, overlooking the Frostbacks in silence.

Epilogue

Flemythal stands in a densely forested place, her hand on an eluvian, pushing some kind of energy into it.

Flemeth: I knew you would come. You should not have given your orb to Corypheus, Dread Wolf.

Solas approaches from behind.

Solas: I was too weak to unlock it after my slumber. The failure was mine. I should pay the price, but the People, they need me. I am so sorry.

Flemeth puts a hand on his face. and pulls him close.

Flemeth: I am sorry as well, old friend.

Solas glows.

Flemeth: (Gasps.)

Flemythal pulses with magic and collapses, Solas seemingly absorbing her energy. His eyes flash with magic, and the scene fades to black.
