Act 1
Echoes of the Past
Rook: You keep artifacts in a vault?
Bellara: Sure do. Keeps them from falling into the wrong hands.
Bellara: Okay. This room’s a mess. Even by Veil Jumper standards. This artifact takes three crystals. They’ll be around here… somewhere. Once you find them, bring them back and swap them in.
Rook: On it.
Rook: Found the first one.
Bellara: Oh, good! Put it in the socket.
Rook: And swapped.
Bellara: Great! Two more to find. Somewhere in here.
Rook: So what about this artifact? What did it do?
Bellara: Nothing! Or that’s what we thought, at least at first. And then came the screaming. Just hours of screaming. Coming from everywhere.
Rook: Well, that sounds awful.
Rook: I guess screaming isn’t so bad? Better than flaming rocks, at least.
Bellara: Well, it started with just screaming. And then it started shattering glass. Then it was breaking walls. Ceilings, too. We figured exploding people wasn’t far off.
Rook: Okay, yeah, that’s terrifying.
Rook: Found the second crystal.
Bellara: Okay! Find an empty socket and swap it in.
Rook: And… there. Done.
Bellara: One more to go. Somewhere in this mess.

| Rook: I know these buildings are technically ruins, but I don’t remember them being in such bad shape. | Rook: I know these are ruins, but they’re in worse shape than I’d expect. |
Bellara: With all the artifacts here, the magic just kind of leaks out. Enough of it gathers in one place, and it can react in some pretty nasty ways. So we ground it. In the buildings, specifically. So no one gets hurt. You can fix buildings. People are harder.
Rook: Found the last one!
Bellara: Great! Bring it over.
Bellara: I appreciate it. Just so you know.
Rook: Appreciate what?
Bellara: What you said. About small problems still being important, even if they’re small. Most people think only big problems are important. So it’s good that you don’t.
Bellara: I’ve never been. On a holiday, I mean.
Rook: Sorry?
Bellara: Oh, back there. You said this was your holiday. Since no one’s trying to kill you. I’d like to go somewhere cold, for once. Really, really cold.
Bellara: Feels like it’s stuck together with paste. Reality, I mean.
Rook: What do you mean?
Bellara: Oh, back there. You said it was important, keeping reality intact. I wonder. If we’re maybe a little too late.
I Cannot Say
Act 3 completed:
Bellara: We took care of three of them. What’s one more?
Rook: Seriously?
Bellara: I’m kidding! Mostly.
Rook: Well, good luck, then.
