Arrival at Tearstone Island
The eclipsed sun hangs in the sky as the party arrives at Tearstone Island, on a beach far from the action.
(Distant Antaam war cries)
Emmrich: It’s fortunate we weren’t spotted coming in.
Taash: Lot of dreadnoughts. One shot is all it takes.
(Distant Antaam war cries)
Neve: Now we just have that to deal with that.
Bellara: Morrigan didn’t exaggerate. That’s the entire Antaam army over there!
Dialogue options:
- Affable: We have the advantage. [1]
- Irreverent: We’ve made an impression. [2]
- Tough: Doesn’t matter. [3]
1 - Affable: We have the advantage.
Rook: Armies are big and clumsy. We can do this.
Lucanis: Agreed. If we move quick enough.
2 - Irreverent: We’ve made an impression.
Rook: Least the gods are taking us seriously.
Neve: I could have lived without that.
3 - Tough: Doesn’t matter.
Rook: Doesn’t change what we came to do.
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook: The gods will know we’re here soon. And so will the Antaam. We need a distraction. One team to draw off that army, and another to stop the gods from finishing their dagger.
Davrin: I’ll take half the team and cause some trouble down by the Antaam’s ships.
Harding: Wait! I’m the scout. I can get us around this place faster.
Davrin: There’ll be blight farther up, Harding. And darkspawn.
Harding: I’ve fought them before. And I’ve got the Stone on my side.

| Taash: Lace? Hold on. | Taash: No one’s fast enough for that many Antaam. |
Harding: Someone has to do this, Taash.
Davrin: So who will it be?
Dialogue options:
- Harding leads the distraction. [5]

(Davrin and Assan will risk themselves leading the second team)
+ Davrin Approves
5 - Harding leads the distraction.
Rook: Harding’s right. This requires a good scout.
Harding: I’ll take care of it. I promise.
6 - Davrin leads the distraction.
Rook: Davrin’s right. We need a Grey Warden and a griffon in the lead.
Davrin: Won’t let you down. Either of us.
7 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook: I’ll take the rest of us, and get to the gods before they finish their dagger and cut open the Fade. Once we’re in place, Lucanis will take Solas’ dagger, and ambush Ghilan’nain.
(Distant Archdemon scream)
Lucanis: Elgar’nan’s pet.
Rook: One problem at a time. As long as he has that Archdemon, he’s invulnerable. Concentrate on Ghilan’nain first. We kill her, take the gods’ dagger, then deal with Elgar’nan.

| Davrin: Then we go home, have some old-fashioned fun… and see whatever comes next.Rook: I’ll hold you to it. | Davrin: Good luck Rook. Let’s make some history.Rook: Good luck. And thanks. |
(Distant Antaam war cries)
Rook: Davrin…
Davrin: Just like you said in the Lighthouse, Rook. We stop the gods. Whatever it takes.
| Romanced | Not romanced |
|---|---|
| Harding: Rook… what if—Rook: Hey, remember? No “what ifs.”Harding: Right. I trust the plan. I trust you. | Harding: We should go. Wish me a little luck.Rook: You got it. |
(Distant Antaam war cries)
Rook: Harding…
Harding: Like you said back at the Lighthouse, Rook. We stop the gods. Whatever it takes.
They head off.
Path to the Ruins
Rook: All right. Not the quickest path ahead, but we might reach the gods before we’re spotted.
They head up the path where a giant temple can be spotted in the distance.
Rook: There! That must be where the gods are making the dagger.
- Bellara: The ruins are funnels. They’re concentrating the magic used for the ritual.
- Davrin: I can feel the blight from here. Keep an eye out.
- Emmrich: The way their ritual’s already bending the Fade… we must hurry.
- Harding: Not if we have anything to say about it.
- Lucanis: Rook, the Veil is weakening here. I can feel it.
- Neve: Charming. Well, we know why we’re here.
- Taash: Looks like the kind of place where all the gold idols have weight traps under ‘em.
They continue until they eventually run into the Antaam.
Antaam: Bas!
Antaam: Enemies!
Rook: Well, so much for that.
- Bellara: Quick! We can’t let them raise an alarm!
- Davrin: Take ‘em out before they set off the alarms!
- Emmrich: Quickly, before they raise the alarm!
- Harding: We can’t let them warn the others!
- Lucanis: Take them out! Fast!
- Neve: Better move quick. Or they’ll set off a warning.
- Taash: Take ‘em down fast! Kata’ost!
They defeat the Antaam and continue, encountering more Antaam as well as human mercenaries.
Antaam: Intruders! Take arms!
Mercenary: You heard the Qunari!
Some explosions go off.
Rook: They’ve got mortars!
They defeat the Antaam and mercenaries.
- Bellara: Wait, the Antaam hired mercenaries?
- Davrin: Didn’t expect human mercenaries.
- Emmrich: Were those human soldiers?
- Harding: Human mercenaries? That’s a surprise.
- Lucanis: Human mercenaries?
- Neve: So, they hired human mercenaries.
- Taash: Antaam had to bring in mercenaries to help them. So much for being strong and pure and crap.
Rook: The Antaam aren’t taking any chances.
They continue fighting through enemies, eventually fighting a particularly strong Qunari named Issbaquon. After they clear the area, the party begins to hear chanting in the distance.
This may not be discernable in game. Antaam: Antaam! Ebasit eshtok anaan! Ghilan’nain maksaam pensha! Itwar deladim! Isstar-toh feshadim bas marhass Qun! Ebsaam var zarrasha, araak martok-bas, sataa katarsaam!
- Bellara: I wonder what they’re saying?
- Davrin: Any idea what they’re saying?
- Emmrich: What are they saying?
- Harding: Does anyone know what they’re saying?
- Lucanis: What is all that?
- Neve: What are they saying?
| Taash in party | Taash not in party |

| Taash: Something something Ghilan’nain’s blood. Something something pure and unstoppable. The usual crap. | Rook: Something about Ghilan’nain giving them… world-crushing power? |

|---|---|
| Rook: Sounds like Davrin’s team found the Antaam. I hope they’re all right. | Rook: Must be Harding’s team distracting the Antaam. I hope they’re all right. |
They continue through the ruins, fighting enemies as they go.
Rook: Mercenaries again. They have mages!
- Davrin: I see them!
- Emmrich: What ragged spellcraft!
- Harding: At least it’s not Venatori!
- Lucanis: Not for long!
- Neve: We can make quick work of this!
- Taash: Antaam must be scared shitless! They hate mages!
They fight through the mercenaries, eventually reaching the Stranghold Entrance where a Reaver waits.
Rook: Antaam Reaver!
They defeat the Reaver, continuing up an elevator. A haze of magic reaches them.
Elgar’nan: How brave of you to seek me out… Rook. We shall meet soon.
Rook: I just heard Elgar’nan.
- Bellara: He spoke to me. Said my name.
- Davrin: I heard. He knew my name.
- Emmrich: I heard him as well. He knew my name…
- Harding: I hate it when he does that! Feels like an itch behind my eyes!
- Lucanis: He said my name. And Spite’s…
- Neve: Lusacan. He said my name…
- Taash: He said my name. Who told him my name?
They continue, fighting some deepstalkers as they go until they eventually reach a bridge.
Romance dependent dialogue:
Rook: We’re going to get through this, Bellara. Promise.
Bellara: Right. No plan, but… we’re good at that, right?
Rook: Right.
Davrin: Rook—that fight we had…
Rook: Isn’t with each other now.
Davrin: Right. Just don’t make me chop more wood.
Emmrich: Rook? Darling? I wanted to say—
Rook: Yeah, about that argument…
Emmrich: (Sighs) It’s no time to apologize, is it?
Rook: We’ll talk back home, Emmrich. I promise.
Harding: It’s going good, right? We’re handling things.
Rook: One obstacle at a time. Like we always do.
Harding: I’m still not looking at that damned moon.
Rook: We’ll get your sunlight back, Lace Harding. Promise.
Lucanis: You’re cutting this awfully close, Rook.
Rook: Everything will be all right. I’ve got you, don’t I?
Lucanis: You do.
Neve: Rook. What I said before… I want things to go our way. I do.
Rook: I know.
Neve: Just find a way out. Can you do that, Trouble?
Rook: I can if you can.
Taash: Hey. Rook. About what I said before…
Rook: You want to do this now?
Taash: Just don’t die. Don’t die. Okay?
Rook: You, too.
They continue into the Cliffside Ruins.
Rook: What did this place used to be?
- Bellara: The way it’s laid out, it seems built for this kind of ritual.
- Davrin: Looks like just another old elven palace to me. Gods must’ve built hundreds.
- Emmrich: This isn’t the first time blood’s been shed here. There are old deaths trapped in these walls.
- Harding: Good question. Looks like it was abandoned until the Antaam camped out.
- Lucanis: Spite says he smells old blood.
- Neve: Don’t ask me. But my bet’s on something important.
As they keep moving through the ritual, the party is attacked again.
- Bellara: There’s more mercenaries here!
- Davrin: More mercenaries!
- Emmrich: More of those mercenaries!
- Harding: We’ve got more mercenaries!
- Lucanis: More mercenaries!
- Neve: Another group of mercenaries!
- Taash: It’s those mercenaries again!
Rook: We can’t let them slow us down!
They enter an area covered in blight.
- Davrin: Trouble here. Seeing some blight.
- Emmrich: Look there. Signs of the blight.
- Harding: Look at all this blight. We’re getting close.
- Lucanis: Blight. Watch your step.
- Neve: Blight. Well, we’re getting closer.
- Taash: Blight crap.
Rook: If the gods finish their dagger, open the Fade, and unleash all the blight… Even Solas was terrified of that.
- Bellara: Right. He’s bad, but… not that bad.
- Davrin: He may be a smug bastard, but at least a bastard with limits.
- Emmrich: At least the Dread Wolf recognizes the folly of his fellow gods.
- Harding: How could anyone want this? How far gone are these gods?
- Lucanis: He has some sense, at least.
- Neve: Is there another way to feel? Even he knows that’s the end.
They fight more Antaam, continuing until they emerge on the other side of a cave.
Into the God’s Lair
Elgar’nan: Antaam. Your vision, your loyalty, will be rewarded. Ghilan’nain and I must complete our task before we join you, but this magic we harness will transform the world. And all those within it.
More Antaam arrive to the fight. The party defeats them, taking a zipline onward. The Archdemon takes off from above them.
Rook: Archdemon!
- Bellara: Hopefully this one doesn’t turn into goo!
- Davrin: I killed the other one, I’ll kill you!
- Emmrich: The sheer size of the creature!
- Harding: Did it get bigger? It can’t have gotten bigger! Why is it so big?
- Lucanis: And it’s a big one.
- Neve: Well, you can’t miss it!
- Taash: Damn. She’s real big.
Rook: Come on! We’re getting closer to where the gods are making their dagger.
They head up another lift.
Ghilan’nain: Antaam! We sense intruders. The same mortals who defied us at Weisshaupt!

Rook: We have to hurry. The Antaam will be looking everywhere after hearing that.
The party enters the Gatehouse, exiting into an open area where their path is blocked. The rest of the party is on the other side.

Antaam: You will be a sacrifice to our future glory!
- Bellara: Not today, we won’t!
- Davrin: Dream on!

Rook: Be careful. We’ll meet you above!
The party keeps moving.
Elgar’nan: There are things I would have of you, Rook. Draw closer. You will learn what they are.
Rook: Elgar’nan again.
- Bellara: Nope. I’m not listening.
- Davrin: He’s messing with our minds. Let him try.
- Harding: He’s trying to unsettle us. We can’t let him.
- Lucanis: Just more talk.
- Neve: Don’t listen to him. I won’t.
- Taash: Marzblok! Vash-vartaar.
The cross another ruin, entering another area full of Antaam and the blight.
Rook: Ugh. Lot more blight on this side.
- Davrin: We’ve also got more Antaam!
- Emmrich: Antaam as well!
- Harding: And a bunch of Antaam!
- Lucanis: Antaam ahead!
- Neve: More Antaam, too!
- Taash: And Antaam!
They continue after defeating the Antaam.
Ghilan’nain: Antaam. The intruders remain. One bears an instrument from the Dread Wolf.

| Lucanis: So the gods know we have Solas’s dagger. | Rook: Crap! They sensed Solas’s dagger. |
More Antaam arrive.
Ghilan’nain: Our ritual gathers momentum. Power. It cannot be interrupted by mortals. I will send my creations to assist your hunt.
Rook: Oh, no. Darkspawn!
The party fights through Antaam, blight, and darkspawn, pushing forward through an area full of elven tree statues. They eventually fight into an area with one large tree sculpture, where a tear in the Veil forms.
Rook: Did you see that flash of green light? That’s a tear in the Fade.
- Bellara: The gods’ magic… it’s starting to weaken the Fade.
- Davrin: I didn’t come all this way to miss our chance.
- Harding: A Fade tear! Are we too late to stop the gods?
- Emmrich: The gods’ magic is already thinning the barriers.
- Lucanis: A Fade tear. Don’t tell me the gods are that close.
- Neve: The gods’ magic is thinning the barriers fast.
Rook: The gods might be close, but they’d be gloating if they’d finished their dagger. If we kill Ghilan’nain and steal that dagger, then Elgar’nan can’t unleash the blight.
They enter the Stronghold, climbing through until they find a Fade tear blocking the path.
Rook: That Fade tear’s blocking the way. We have to set it off.
Rook triggers the tear, causing it to explode.
Ghilan’nain: Mortal trespassers!
Rook: (Pained hiss) That Fade tear… getting near it feels like being ripped to shreds!

| Emmrich: Ghilan’nain’s enervated the entire Fade here. She’s made these tears hazardous to anyone coming near them. | Rook: Ghilan’nain must be affecting the Fade here, making the tears more dangerous. |

| Davrin: Rook! Antaam coming your way. We can’t hold them forever! | Harding: Rook! More Antaam headed your way. We can’t hold them off much longer! |
Rook: Do what you can! Meet us inside that building ahead!
(Archdemon screams in distance)
More blight blocks the path.
- Bellara: Ugh. There’s more blight blocking our way.
- Davrin: Blight, right in our way.
- Emmrich: There’s more blight in our path.
- Harding: More blight in the way!
- Lucanis: More blight!
- Neve: Of course there’s blight blocking us.
- Taash: More blighted crap blocking us!
Rook: We’ve got to clear it out to get to the gods!
Antaam: Ataash varin kata!
Antaam: In death lies glory!
- Davrin: Antaam are onto us!
- Emmrich: The Antaam found us!
- Harding: Here they come!
- Lucanis: They know we’re here.
- Neve: They’re onto us!
- Taash: Only for you!
More tears start to appear alongside the Antaam.
- Davrin: More tears into the Fade.
- Emmrich: Yet more Fade tears.
- Harding: More Fade tears.
- Lucanis: Fade tears again.
- Neve: Careful. More Fade tears.
- Taash: More of those Fade tears.
Rook: Remember to keep your distance.
They start to destroy the blight.
Ghilan’nain: After we seize the blight, I will craft a new dragon. Invulnerable to steel. Flame. Magic. It will be perfect.
Rook: No such thing!
Ghilan’nain: And the first meal I feed it will be your hearts!
They finally clear the blight.
Rook: Got it! Everyone in!
Removing Wards
The party enters a room with a large Fade tear. An exit the glows with magic lies beyond.
Emmrich: Another Fade tear. Oceans of magic are coursing around us, because of the gods’ ritual.
Lucanis: Then we’d better find Ghilan’nain—quickly.
Bellara: Wait, wait, wait! There are wards blocking the way out. Blood magic.
Neve: One touch could kill.
Rook: How do we get through? Ideas?
Bellara: Patterns are familiar. If I can fracture the harmonics, we could get through. Maybe.
Neve: I deal with blood magic. I can stop the damage long enough to burn out the wards.
Bellara: That’s risky, Neve. Really, risky. I can’t ask you to do that.
Neve: Your way’s just as dangerous. Don’t like it, but one of us has to do it.
Dialogue options:
- Bellara, let’s try your way. [1]
(Bellara will dismantle the wards.)
- Neve Disapproves - Neve, you take point. [2]
(Neve will dismantle the wards.)

1 - Bellara, let’s try your way.
Rook: This is your territory, Bellara. Just go slow.
Bellara: I’ll be careful.
2 - Neve, you take point.
Rook: Neve, get those wards down. Carefully.
Neve: I’m on it.
3 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Emmrich: I’ll keep this Fade tear in check while you work. But with things so unpredictable… I fear anything might happen once we kill Ghilan’nain.
Rook: Solas warned me that there’d always be costs and consequences to fighting gods. But if we kill Ghilan’nain, snatch the gods’ dagger, and escape? Maybe we prove him wrong.
Emmrich: I dearly hope so.
The scene fades, and cuts back to Bellara/Neve working on the wards.
Choice dependent dialogue:
Bellara: (Hums softly)
The wards break.
Bellara: And there! (Sighs)
Rook: Great work!
Bellara: Thanks. Be careful! The gods might know we’re here now.
Elgar’nan: That is a certainty.
A blight tendril emerges and pulls Bellara through the eluvian.
Bellara: (Screams)
Rook: Bellara!
Elgar’nan’s silhouette appears in the eluvian.
Elgar’nan: The elven are a scattered people, but fret not: I shall bring your mage gently back into our fold.
The eluvian shatters.
Rook: (Gasps)
Elgar’nan: You can all be forgiven by embracing the wisdom of surrender. Continue, and even the Dread Wolf will regret what I do to his pawn.
Rook: Come on!
Rook leaves with the rest of the party behind them.
Rook: Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain are still on the island. If we move fast, we might get Bellara back!
Neve: Damn it. Hold on, Bel!
Rook: The gods know we’re coming, but they still need to finish their dagger.

Neve thinks for moment, then casts a spell that breaks the wards.
Neve: Hah! Got it.
Rook: Nice going!
Neve: Sure. But let’s walk out careful. The gods will have a trap or two.
Elgar’nan: That is a certainty.
A blight tendril emerges and pulls Neve through the eluvian.
Neve: (Screams)
Rook: Neve!
Elgar’nan’s silhouette appears in the eluvian.
Elgar’nan: I’ll take the greatest care ensuring your Tevinter mage knows the new face of her Empire.
The eluvian shatters.

Elgar’nan: You can all be forgiven by embracing the wisdom of surrender. Continue, and even the Dread Wolf will regret what I do to his pawn.

Harding: All this magic. It feels like a storm!
Emmrich: Which means Elgar’nan’s almost completed the dagger.
Taash: Where’s Ghilan’nain?
Lucanis: On the move. Spite can feel her hunting for us.

Rook: It’s all yours.
Lucanis: As is Ghilan’nain.
Lucanis leaves.
Death of a God
The party heads out, and the enter a thick fog.
- Bellara: All this fog. I can’t see a thing.
- Davrin: Careful. Fog’s perfect for an ambush.
- Emmrich: Ghilan’nain conjured this fog.
- Harding: This fog can’t be natural. Ghilan’nain’s hiding.
- Lucanis: Fog. Ghilan’nain doesn’t want us to see her coming.
- Neve: Fog. So we don’t spot Ghilan’nain until it’s too late.
- Taash: Fog? That’s not right.
Rook: I hear darkspawn!
Darkspawn emerge from the fog, and the party fights them while destroying blight.
Ghilan’nain: The first age of gods was a time of conquest. The second age of gods saw wonders built. Then came blight. Pride. Betrayal. And the third age of gods was ruin!

Ghilan’nain vanishes into the fog. Rook continues to fight the emerging darkspawn.
Ghilan’nain: You walk among the remains of an empire destroyed by the Dread Wolf. Solas is cunning. Persuasive. He is loyal to nothing but his own fears.
The party continues fighting.
Ghilan’nain: You bring no armies. No allies. My servants are endless. Renewed effortlessly. Perfected with each iteration. Once the blight is fully ours, all Wardens who ever lived could not stand against us!
Rook continues destroying blight boils.
Ghilan’nain: Once the blight is fully ours, all Wardens who ever lived could not stand against us!

Ghilan’nain: For your transgressions, little Rook, you face a god alone.

Rook: Are you okay, Taash?
Taash: Barely felt anything. Let’s go!
Darkspawn begin to emerge.
Ghilan’nain: I have not forgotten my Archdemon’s death! That debt will be paid with your companions’ blood!
Rook frees both party members.

Ghilan’nain: This struggle is pointless! Wasteful!

Rook: We’ll find him!
Elgar’nan: Ghilan’nain, the ritual is nearly complete! You must keep them away!
Ghilan’nain: They are persistent!
Rook runs up to where Lucanis is trapped.
Rook: Lucanis! I’ve got you.
Rook: Ah!
A tendril grabs Rook, dragging them back. Ghilan’nain drags them upwards into the air. Davrin/Harding climbs some nearby rubble.
Ghilan’nain: Behold your current age! Fragile. Aimless. Lost!
Lucanis and Davrin/Harding take up positions nearby.
Ghilan’nain: We are the only beings in this world who can cleanse and tame the blight. Use it to rebuild the old glories. You’ve done naught but destroy them.
Rook: You and Elgar’nan are trapped by the past just like Solas. You had your chance! Each one of you! And we don’t owe you a thing.
Lucanis lunges.
Lucanis: Ah!
One of Ghilan’nain’s tendrils grabs him and pins him to a nearby pillar.

Elgar’nan: No…
Lucanis rushes over to Rook.
Ghilan’nain: We had… such plans, Elgar’nan.
Ghilan’nain goes limp.
Elgar’nan: You!
The dagger flashes, and Elgar’nan brandishes his own dagger at Rook before changing his mind. The magic around them whirls.
Elgar’nan: You will* regret *this!
He vanishes. The dagger in Ghilan’nain’s chest releases a shock of magical energy.

| Neve: The Fade’s still ripping open! | Bellara: The Fade’s still ripping itself apart! |
Emmrich: The dagger! Rook, you must break its contact with Ghilan’nain!
Rook struggles forward, and there is a flash as they grab the dagger. A familiar figure stand behind them.
Rook: Lucanis?
The figure is gone when Rook turns, and Lucanis lies motionless.
Rook: Lucanis!
Lucanis’s body turns into Varric as Rook rolls him over.
Rook: (Gasps)
Solas stands nearby, vanishing again as Rook turns.
Solas: And so you have your victory. You live… and Ghilan’nain does not.
he walks behind Rook.
Solas: Are you not proud to finally reach this moment? Or did you think you’d win the day without some painful sacrifice?
Lucanis’s body turns to stone, and one of the ritual statues falls, knocking Rook into an abyss. Voices haunt them as they fall.

First Warden: No one’s retreating.
Evka: We’ll all die!
Rook: (Struggling grunts)
Grey Warden: Archdemon’s attacking the north wall!
Ghilan’nain: (Shrieks in shock and pain)
Rook stabs out with the dagger, gaining purchase in the wall.
Solas: You and your friends stood against the gods.
Solas stand over them.
Solas: Your courage is laudable…
Rook: (Struggling grunts)
Rook: Solas?
Solas: …but mortals cannot win this battle.
Statues of Rook’s party appear, shuffling around.
Solas: I am sorry. It is what must be.
Rook: (Startled cry while falling)

Solas: What failure cuts your conscience now, I wonder?
Rook lands on a ruined building, reaching out for the hand of a statue.

| Rook: Neve!Neve: Blood on your hands. | Rook: Bellara! |
Bellara: Your friend is dead.
Lucanis: Dead and gone.
Emmrich: It was your fault.
Taash: Your fault.
Rook uses the dagger to hang on as the ruin tips.
Solas: Regret, like all emotions, is a powerful thing. It can bruise us, break us… or blind us to the truth. Regret is even strong enough to serve as the lock on a prison built to hold gods. But such a prison can hold any captive… even you.
Rook: (Grunts) No. (Grunts)
The other companions appear as statues, puling Rook down.
Solas: You were never ready to make the sacrifices that leadership requires.
Rook tries to pull themself out.
Solas: So, through our connection, I molded you into someone the prison would accept in my place.
The statues suddenly become one of Varric.
Rook: Varric?
Solas takes the dagger, and cuts a way out of the Fade as Rook falls.
Solas: Your work is done.
