A Final Check-in
Rook stands in the library after the party disperses.
| Rook is not in a romance |
|---|
| Rook: Okay. Before I go, I should check in with Varric.Next Scene |
Romance dependent dialogue:
Rook: I should talk with Bellara before we leave. See how she is.
Rook heads to Bellara’s room.
Bellara: Rook. Hi, there.
Rook: What’re you working on?
Bellara: Oh. Some things I want to say. Important things. Before, well… everything happens. I have to get the words right. So I wrote them down to make sure.
Dialogue options:
1 - Affable: What’s everything?
Rook: What do you mean by “everything”?
Bellara: Fighting a pair of gods. Hoping we win. Risking our lives again. Still.
2 - Irreverent: I understand.
Rook: I get it. Things are a little chaotic at the moment.
Bellara: Well, that’s one word. Maybe underselling it a bit.
3 - Tough: Is that necessary?
Rook: That seems a bit much.
Bellara: Just hear me out… Because I might not get to say them later.
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Bellara: Elgar’nan blights the moon, and everything changes. Now we’re rushing off. Without a plan.
Rook: It’s kind of what we do: Go in without a plan, find something to punch. It’s worked out so far.
Bellara: But what if this time it doesn’t? Things could go wrong. People could get hurt, or… or… See? This is why I wanted notes!
Dialogue options:
- Affable: What would the notes say? [5]
- Irreverent: You can improvise! [6]
- Tough: Forget the notes. [7]
5 - Affable: What would the notes say?
Rook: If you’d written notes, what would they have said?
Bellara: Maybe… something about what we are. What we could be, someday. That I care about you. With all of me.
6 - Irreverent: You can improvise!
Rook: Just start talking! That always works for me. You know your own heart, better than anyone.
Bellara: Okay. Here we go. Deep breaths. I care about you, Rook. A lot.
7 - Tough: Forget the notes.
Rook: You don’t need notes. Just deal with whatever’s in front of you.
Bellara: That’s hard. Without knowing what’s next. But, um… okay. Here we go. Deep breath. I care. About us. About you.
8 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Bellara: You anchor me. I feel calm. Well, calmer, at least. And I know you. Who you are. Who I am. You let me be me.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: That’s what caring is. [9]
- Irreverent: It’s because I like you. [10]
- Tough: Well, yeah. [11]
9 - Affable: That’s what caring is.
Rook: Caring about someone means caring about who they are. Every bit.
Bellara: I wish more people believed that. People like what I could be. Want to help me get there. They tell me how to change. How to fix myself. Like it’s that easy.
10 - Irreverent: It’s because I like you.
Rook: I like the you that you are. The anxious, flustered, kind, passionate you.
Bellara: That’s not what most people tell me. They talk about who I could be. How to get there. They want to help me change. Be better. Like it’s easy.
11 - Tough: Well, yeah.
Rook: Like there was another option?
Bellara: People like to tell me how I could change. Be better. They think it’s easy. But it’s not.
12 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Bellara: I’m working on it. Figuring out how to be me. But most people don’t want to wait. But you do.
Rook: Of course. I like you.
Bellara: That’s why I’m scared. About what comes next. I want us to stay us. To stay together. But the Evanuris have other plans.
Dialogue options:
13 - Affable: We’ll make it through.
Rook: As long as we’re careful and stay together, we’ve got this. This story’s going to have a happy ending.
Bellara: A happy ending. That’d be nice. But, Rook: We barely made it out of Weisshaupt. And that was just one god.
14 - Irreverent: So did Solas.
Rook: Solas also had other plans—and is also a god. Now he’s rattling around in some Fade cage. Let’s bring that same god-punching energy to Ghilan’nain and Elgar’nan.
Bellara: Solas was different, though. We barely made it out of Weisshaupt. And that was with just one god.
15 - Tough: Who gives a shit?
Rook: I don’t give a shit about what Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain want. We’ve faced tough odds before, and we’re seeing this through.
Bellara: I just keep thinking about Weisshaupt. How it almost went. And that was one god. And a whole bunch of Wardens. We’re on our own. Eight of us—and now there’s two of them.
16 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Bellara: And no one has our back this time.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: We have each other. [17]
- Irreverent: Those aren’t bad odds. [18]
- Tough: Us against the world. [19]
17 - Affable: We have each other.
Rook: We are in this together. You. Me. Everyone else. We’ve got each other’s backs. And that’s enough.
18 - Irreverent: Those aren’t bad odds.
Rook: I’ll take eight-against-two odds anytime. Well, two plus the darkspawn. Maybe Antaam. But they don’t count.
Bellara: Are any of us gods?
| Companion quests completed | Companion quests not completed |
|---|---|
| The Hearts of the Titan complete:Rook: Does Harding count? She’s at least god-adjacent. A Murder of Crows complete:Rook: Lucanis has that demon thing going on. That feels close. Will and Testament complete:Rook: Emmrich’s a lich. I think that sort of counts. | Rook: Not yet, I guess, though someone could surprise me. |
Rook: We’ve got each other, and that’s enough.
19 - Tough: Us against the world.
Rook: We’re always outmatched and outnumbered. But we make it through okay. Because we’ve got each other. And that’s enough.
20 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Bellara: Is it, though?
Rook: Has to be. Like you said—it’s just us.
Bellara: Rook?
Rook: Yeah, Bellara?
Bellara: Can you stay with me? For a little while?
Rook eventually leaves.
Rook: Okay. Another reason not to get myself killed.
Rook: All easier said than done. I should see how Davrin’s holding up before the fun starts.
Rook heads to Davrin’s room.
Davrin: That’s for Weisshaupt.
Assan: (Squawk)
Davrin: That’s for the griffons.
Assan: (Squawk)
Rook: Hey, what’s going on?
Davrin: Blowing off steam.
Rook: About what?
Davrin: Nothing. Everything. You.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: Calm down. [1]
- Irreverent: I do have that effect. [2]
- Tough: Chop harder. [3]
- Afraid: What did I do? [4]
1 - Affable: Calm down.
Rook: Well, whatever I did, calm down and tell me what’s going on?
Davrin: Just thinking about the fight ahead.
Rook: We all are.
Davrin: Yeah. Well…
2 - Irreverent: I do have that effect.
Rook: Sorry, I know I drive men wild. Can’t help it.
Davrin: This is for real, Rook.
Rook: Okay, sorry. What is?
Davrin: It’s what we’re about to go do…
3 - Tough: Chop harder.
Rook: Then put your back into it like you mean it.
Davrin: You think I don’t?
Rook: I think I don’t know what we’re talking about.
Davrin: It’s what we’re about to go do…
4 - Afraid: What did I do?
Rook: You’re mad at me?
Davrin: Of course not. Just thinking about what’s coming. Except yeah, maybe I am. I don’t know.
Rook: You better start making some sense.
Davrin: It’s what we’re about to go do…
5 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Davrin: The thing about being a Grey Warden… you don’t get too attached.
| Grey Warden Rook |
|---|
| Rook: We proved that wrong.Davrin: Maybe that’s the problem. |
Davrin: Any day could be your last. So you learn: Keep it casual. Don’t make friends with your team. Don’t start thinking about a griffon like he’s your kid. And whatever you do, no matter what, don’t even think about falling hard for your boss. Trouble is, it’s too late. I already did.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: I feel the same. [6]
- Irreverent: Great timing. [7]
- Tough: It happens. Relax. [8]
- Angry: That’s a problem? [9]
6 - Affable: I feel the same.
Rook: Makes two of us.
Davrin: But that makes it worse.
Rook: Thought it was the other way around.
7 - Irreverent: Great timing.
Rook: Now you tell me.
Davrin: Didn’t mean to. But then, you were all… you.
Rook: That much I’m good at.
Davrin: And I fell for you. And then…
Rook: You felt the urge to chop some more wood?
Davrin: (Frustrated laugh)
8 - Tough: It happens. Relax.
Rook: It happens. What of it?
Davrin: I’m supposed to be the tough one playing things cool.
Rook: You’re kinda hot when you’re mad.
Davrin: (Frustrated laugh)
9 - Angry: That’s a problem?
Rook: You’re telling me what we have is a problem?
Davrin: It could be!
Rook: Don’t let it!
Davrin: How? I can’t stop thinking about you!
Rook: Still not hearing the problem!
10 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Davrin: What if one of us doesn’t come back? I actually let myself imagine the future. Our future.
Davrin: What we could be.
Assan: (Squawk)
Davrin: And him, too. Our half-bird, half-cat kid. I want all that.
Dialogue options:
11 - Affable: We’ll have it.
Rook: There’s no reason we can’t have it.
Davrin: Only if we live.
Rook: Then the good news is we finally have a plan: Don’t die.
12 - Irreverent: We can handle it.
Rook: C’mon, we can handle one baby griffon.
Davrin: It’ll take two of us to corral him.
Rook: I’m game.
13 - Tough: Fight for it.
Rook: Then make it happen. Save that energy for the fight.
Davrin: You have to come back, too.
Rook: See if I don’t.
14 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Davrin: Now you got my hopes up. I swear Rook, if you go out there and get yourself killed, I’m gonna…
Rook: Chop some more wood?
Davrin: (Laughs)
Rook: Or… we both come back and have some fun the good old-fashioned way?
Davrin: You’re on.
Rook leaves.
Rook: Now to keep that promise. Just gotta stay alive.
Rook: I’ll talk to Emmrich before we go. See how he’s doing.
Rook heads to Emmrich’s room.
Emmrich: Darling! I’m just finishing reviewing my bequeathments. It made me consider… a topic I must broach.
Choice dependent dialogue:
Emmrich: The eve before we kill a god, my thoughts turn to mortality. And what we are to each other.
Rook: All right.
| Grey Warden | Non-Grey Warden |
|---|---|
| Emmrich: Even if you one day hear the Warden’s Calling, it’s likely you’ll still outlive me. | Emmrich: Even under the best circumstances, you will outlive me, Rook. |
Emmrich: You’ve… grown to mean much to me and… I care for you, Rook! Deeply. But there are such years between us, I shouldn’t heap you with that burden.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: Please don’t worry, Emmrich. [1]
- Irreverent: I mean something to you! [2]
- Tough: Love scares you. [3]
1 - Affable: Please don’t worry, Emmrich.
Rook: You’re breaking my heart by worrying.
Emmrich: Darling, I didn’t— I only wish to be fair to you.
Rook: I know what I’m getting into.
Emmrich: At your age?
Rook: Don’t start.
Emmrich: We must consider this!
Rook: You’re overthinking it, and it’s not the time.
Emmrich: One of us needs to consider my mortality!
Rook: Because you’re worried about me, or insecure about you?
2 - Irreverent: I mean something to you!
Rook: You care about me? That’s so sweet!
Emmrich: That’s not what we’re discussing.
Rook: It could be.
Emmrich: If I’d known you’d waylay my point—
Rook: Are you going to do this every time we go up against something dangerous?
Emmrich: I wish to approach things with a clear head.
Rook: Or you’re overthinking everything!
Emmrich: One of us needs to consider these things!
Rook: Maybe one of us just needs to admit that he’s scared!
3 - Tough: Love scares you.
Rook: I get it. You’re scared because you love me.
Emmrich: What?
Rook: It’s fine to say it.
Emmrich: I can’t… at my…
Rook: You’re older than me, I get it.
Emmrich: I’m perfectly serious.
Rook: So am I! Why are you making this such a big deal?
Emmrich: One of us has to pay attention to these things.
Rook: One of us needs the guts to say how he feels!
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook: Look I… let’s pack. Eve before we face a god, right?
Emmrich: As you say.
Manfred: (Inquisitive hiss)
Emmrich: Don’t start.
Emmrich: We face Ghilan’nain soon. When we do, there’s no reason you couldn’t… stay back a ways.
Rook: What?
Emmrich: I’ll be far more difficult to kill. You needn’t face her head on.
Rook: First: No. Second: What brought this on?
Emmrich: I can see the life course through you, my love. Like a thread of diamond flame. Yet… I will lose you to time, Rook. What if I can’t bear that for eternity?
Dialogue options:
1 - Please, please don’t?
Rook: Oh, Emmrich.
Emmrich: Even as I am, the mind is a victim of the heart.
Rook: Yeah, you’re not great at holding stuff in. But don’t mourn me forever. Promise?
Emmrich: Only if you pledge to be a bit more careful.
Rook: I can take care of myself.
Emmrich: We’re heading into untold danger!
Rook: You can’t be like this every time we face something big!
Emmrich: How can I not?
Rook: It’s not my fault you’re afraid to see me die!
2 - That is beyond romantic.
Rook: That’s the most romantic thing I’ve ever heard.
Emmrich: What?
Rook: Remembering me forever?
Emmrich: I’m afraid I’ll mourn you forever.
Rook: That’s ridiculous.
Emmrich: Do you think so little of what I feel for you?
Rook: No!
Emmrich: Then you could act accordingly.
Rook: I’m not going to be afraid of dying just because you are!
3 - Just be happy with now.
Rook: Stop moping over something that hasn’t happened.
Emmrich: I am not “moping.”
Rook: You’re overthinking it.
Emmrich: Rook, there are new realities I must face in this form!
Rook: You going to drag this out every time we go up against something dangerous?
Emmrich: Perhaps it might get you to listen!
Rook: I just want you to be happy, you idiot!
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Emmrich: Rook, I…
Rook: We… should get ready. Have to leave soon.
Emmrich: The eve before we kill a god, my thoughts turn to mortality. And what we are to each other.
Rook: All right.
Emmrich: Until I complete the rites of lichdom, I’m vulnerable. And there’s something I must face. You’ve… grown to mean much to me and… I care for you, Rook! Deeply. But there are such years between us, I shouldn’t heap you with that burden.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: Please don’t worry, Emmrich. [1]
- Irreverent: I mean something to you! [2]
- Tough: Love scares you. [3]

4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook: Look I… let’s pack. Eve before we face a god, right?
Emmrich: As you say.
Rook leaves.
Rook: Why does Emmrich have to… I mean, I know he’s just… (Sighs)
Rook: I should talk to Lace before we set off. See how she’s doing.
Rook heads to Harding’s room.
Rook: I thought I heard you in here.
Harding: I can’t stop thinking about the moon. They moved the moon, Rook.
Rook: Right. That.
Harding: They moved the damned moon like it was… like it was a picture they wanted on a different wall.
Rook: Lace…
Harding: And we’re supposed to stop them? How?
Dialogue options:
1 - Affable: I have faith.
Rook: I think we can win. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t try.
Harding: I want to believe that. Really, I do.
2 - Irreverent: With style?
Rook: We stop them with teamwork. And style.
Harding: Really, Rook?
Rook: All right, doing it stylishly is a distant goal, I’ll be honest.
3 - Tough: We stick to the plan.
Rook: We have a plan. We stick to it. That’s how we win.
Harding: The plans never go to plan.
Rook: We’ll adapt.
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Harding: (Sighs) But so many things could go wrong. I can’t stop thinking, what if… what if one of us…
Dialogue options:
- Investigate: Dies? [5]
- Affable: I don’t like “what ifs.” [6]
- Irreverent: Life is dangerous. [7]
- Tough: We have no choices. [8]
5 - Investigate: Dies?
Rook: You mean what if one of us dies?
Harding: Don’t! Don’t say it! You can’t just say things like that!
Rook: We’re both thinking it.
Harding: But saying it out loud is different!
Rook: How?
Harding: It just is!
6 - Affable: I don’t like “what ifs.”
Rook: There are an endless number of what-ifs. You can’t let them distract you. We have a team, and we have a plan. Most of all: we have each other. That’s what I try to remember.
Harding: Oh, Rook.
Rook: We’re still standing. There’s still hope.
Harding: Okay, then let’s focus on us for now. Just us.
7 - Irreverent: Life is dangerous.
Rook: You know, I could fall down the stairs tomorrow and break my neck.
Harding: What?
Rook: I could be kicked in the head by a horse. Or eat some bad shellfish, or fall asleep in the tub and drown.
Harding: I don’t know that this is helping.
Rook: The point is, anything could happen, anywhere. But we don’t stop living.
Harding: I hate it when you’re right.
Rook: No matter what happens, this, here, now, has been worth everything.
Harding: Okay, then let’s focus on us for now. Just us.
8 - Tough: We have no choices.
Rook: Forget about the gods. We just… stop. Run away.
Harding: We can’t do that!
Rook: Exactly. We’re the only ones who have any chance. We have no choice but to try.
Harding: No matter what might happen, huh?
Rook: No matter what might happen. We’re in this. Together.
Harding: Together.
9 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook leaves.
Rook: It’s going to be fine. You told Lace it’s going to be fine, and it is. Going. To be fine.
Rook: Lucanis. I should see how he’s doing before we leave.
Rook heads to the pantry.
Rook: How are the knives coming?
Lucanis: Rook. This isn’t going to work.
Rook: We’re going to make it work.
Lucanis: They moved the moon. We’re in over our heads. That’s not magic you can fight with a blade! You’re putting your life in our hands. My hands. All I know is death.
Dialogue options:
1 - Affable: I trust you.
Rook: I know we’ll get through this.
Lucanis: Optimism is your best and worst quality.
2 - Irreverent: We all contribute.
Rook: And Taash knows dragons, and Emmrich knows the Fade. And I know I’ve chosen the man we need.
Lucanis: You do like to walk close to the edge.
3 - Tough: Don’t back out now.
Rook: This isn’t the time to have second thoughts, Lucanis. No one else can do this.
Lucanis: You know I don’t quit.
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Lucanis: If I have to kill every blighted creature in Thedas to keep you safe, I will.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: We’re in this together. [5]
- Irreverent: I won’t take that many. [6]
- Tough: I need you to focus. [7]
5 - Affable: We’re in this together.
Rook: You don’t have to do everything alone.
Lucanis: I’m never alone anymore.
Rook: You know what I mean. I’ll be here for you.
Lucanis: Don’t make promises you might not keep.
Rook: Lucanis, I—
Lucanis: Don’t. Whatever it takes. I won’t miss this time.
6 - Irreverent: I won’t take that many.
Rook: Two blighted creatures will be enough.
Lucanis: The most dangerous two.
Rook: And when they’re gone, the rest will be easy. You’ll see.
Lucanis: What would I do without you?
Rook: Don’t tempt fate.
Lucanis: I don’t intend to. If all the gods have to die for you, it’s a small price to pay.
7 - Tough: I need you to focus.
Rook: One job at a time. We’re risking enough already.
Lucanis: You should never gamble anything you cannot afford to lose.
Rook: Believe me, I know what’s at stake.
Lucanis: Let’s hope your luck doesn’t run out.
Rook: I have you, don’t I? Seems to be holding so far.
Lucanis: You do.
Lucanis: I’ll finish this. For you.
8 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Lucanis: I’ll meet you at the eluvian.
Rook leaves.
Rook: Right. Business as usual. Everything’s fine. Definitely not thinking about that all day.
Rook: I should talk with Neve before we leave. See how she’s doing.
Rook heads into Neve’s room.
Rook: Not taking a break? It’s our last chance before…
Neve: I’ll get to it.
Neve: The gods are rushing this. Rushing us.
Rook: You’re worried?
Neve: Maybe.
Dialogue options:
1 - Affable: We’ll figure it out.
Rook: So the job’s gone sideways. We’ll make it work.
Neve: That doesn’t make it easy.
Rook: (Laughs) I know.
2 - Irreverent: I know I’m worried.
Rook: You’re not sure? I’m sure. Can’t stop thinking about it either…
Neve: Aren’t we a pair?
3 - Tough: It’s pointless.
Rook: Worry won’t win any battles. You need to take a break.
Neve: I wish we could.
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook: When this is over—
Neve: Don’t.
Rook: Don’t what?
Neve: Talk about after.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: You don’t see a future for for us? [5]
- Irreverent: Sure you don’t want to talk. [6]
- Tough: Be honest with me. [7]
5 - Affable: You don’t see a future for for us?
Rook: I… If this isn’t something you want…
Neve: That’s not what this is.
Rook: Then what?
6 - Irreverent: Sure you don’t want to talk.
Rook: All right. Easy. If that’s what you need. But I’m not the one still thinking about it…
Neve: The gods are rushing us.
Rook: I know.
7 - Tough: Be honest with me.
Rook: Something’s wrong. And it’s not just the gods.
Neve: Well, look who’s got the read on me.
Rook: You wanna tell me the rest?
8 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Neve: The job? I know one’ll get me eventually. But you… I can’t think about “after” and you. Not when… if something happens…
Rook: Neve.
Neve: Oh, I knew you were trouble. It’s one lucky break and close call after another. And you… I let myself… When do the tables turn, Rook? Because they do. They always…
Dialogue options:
- Affable: Please don’t worry about me. [9]
- Irreverent: Who cares about the odds. [10]
- Tough: Don’t hold back. [11]
9 - Affable: Please don’t worry about me.
Rook: I’m not going anywhere. Neve, I…
Neve: People say a lot of things. They don’t always see it through.
Rook: I will.
Neve: It’s not that they don’t want to. Not always—
Rook: I’ll always try.
Neve: You scare me, Trouble.
10 - Irreverent: Who cares about the odds.
Rook: So we flip the table, hold out for the lucky break.
Neve: And if the last break was our last?
Rook: I’ll find a way to make one happen. You know I’ll try.
Neve: (Laughs) Maybe that’s what scares me.
Rook: It’s okay to be scared.
Neve: Well, Trouble. I’m terrified.
11 - Tough: Don’t hold back.
Rook: I’m here for you. I meant that. I still do.
Neve: The gods can break that promise for you.
Rook: You’re acting like they already have. Like I wouldn’t try…
Rook: We’ve been in danger since we met. What’s different this time?
Neve: This time I know I…
Rook: Why can’t you say it?
Neve: What if I can’t tomorrow?
12 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook leaves.
Rook: Come on, Neve. We’re going to be… (Sighs)
Rook: I should probably find Taash before we go. See how they’re doing.
Rook heads into Taash’s room.
Taash: Hey.
Rook: Hey.
Taash: What do you want?
Dialogue options:
- Affable: To, um, talk feelings? [1]
- Irreverent: Sweet nothings and a kiss? [2]
- Tough: To say I love you, damn it! [3]
1 - Affable: To, um, talk feelings?
Rook: Well, that’s the thing. We’re getting ready to fight Ghilan’nain.
Taash: Yep.
Rook: And I didn’t want to go into that fight with anything left unsaid.
Taash: ‘Kay?
Rook: So I wanted to tell you how I feel…
2 - Irreverent: Sweet nothings and a kiss?
Rook: I heard that a lot of times, before the big final battle…
Taash: Yeah?
Rook: You know, the heroes tell each other how they feel and then one thing leads to another, and…
3 - Tough: To say I love you, damn it!
Rook: I wanted to tell you how I feel about you!
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Taash: You’ve gotta be kidding me. The last thing we need before a fight like this is a distraction!
Rook: A distraction?
Taash: It makes you stupid. Stupid gets you killed!
Dialogue options:
- Affable: I care. You do what you like. [5]
- Irreverent: Not talking is a distraction! [6]
- Tough: Don’t do this, please. [7]
5 - Affable: I care. You do what you like.
Rook: Listen, Taash, I want to be with you.
Taash: You are! We’ve kissed and crap! Why do we have to talk and make it a thing?
Rook: Because I care about you.
Taash: People who care about me die!
6 - Tough: Not talking is a distraction!
Rook: Refusing to talk about your feelings doesn’t make them go away!
Taash: Why do we have to talk about it?
Rook: Because that’s what people do!
Taash: You want me to say that I care about you? Why? So it hurts more when one of us gets killed?
7 - Sad: Don’t do this, please.
Rook: Taash, please. You and I both know the odds here.
Taash: Stop it. You can’t say stuff like that!
Rook: I don’t want our last talk to be like this.
Taash: I can’t have another person tellin’ me they care about me and then die!
8 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Taash: Forget it.
Rook leaves.
Rook: Well, that was… yeah.
Rook: I should talk with Varric, too. Get any last advice for killing a god.
Words of Advice
Rook heads into the infirmary.
Rook: Varric? I hope I’m not… interrupting whatever you’re doing.
Varric: Take a deep breath.
Rook: The gods changed all the rules. We’re going in blind. The whole team is pretty sure we’re going to die. And they might be right.
Varric: Weird shit is happening. Of course the team’s on edge. It’s not a personal failing for you to be scared, either.
Dialogue options:
1 - Affable: I need advice.
Rook: I don’t know how to carry this weight, Varric.
Varric: No one does. This job was always going to call for someone who could improvise. You’re on this team for a reason, too, you know.
2 - Tough: I’m not scared.
Rook: I’m not.
Varric: You’re in uncharted territory. It’s not like anyone has experience fighting gods. Well, maybe Solas does, but you really don’t want to get him talking about it.
Rook: Too late.
Varric: My point is, you’re doing the best anyone could do in this situation.
3 - Angry: I never wanted this.
Rook: I didn’t ask to be the one making all the decisions.
Varric: But you did it, anyway. And that’s why they look up to you. They know you’re fighting a lot of thankless battles so they don’t have to. It’s one of the reasons they’re worried about you.
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Dialogue options:
- Affable: Thanks, I think. [5]
- Irreverent: The world deserves better. [6]
- Tough: Less bull, more plan. [7]
5 - Affable: Thanks, I think.
Rook: I guess I have some thinking to do. About… everything.
6 - Irreverent: The world deserves better.
Rook: I think the world deserves more than me leading the charge. But I’ll think about what you said.
7 - Tough: Less bull, more plan.
Rook: What I really need is a plan. And less bullshit.
Varric: That’s what you’re here for, isn’t it? Better get to work.
8 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Varric: Go on. You know where to find me if you need me.
Rook: Heh. Well, let’s not keep the gods waiting.
