Eclipse

Rook enters the Cobbled Swan where Morrigan has been waiting, and sits with her.

Morrigan: Events are weaving together quickly now, Rook. For good or ill, the fate of the world shall be decided soon. I received Harding’s missive. Your plan is sound.

Rook: So the Inquisitor’s in?

Morrigan: Indeed, although [they require] a few days to set events in motion. Time is needed to allot [their] responsibilities to those who are capable of managing them. Once settled, [they have] pledged herself to your cause. The snake’s head must be severed, else the body simply grows anew. And what of your other allies? Will they also be ready? There is no room left for doubt or hesitation.

Dialogue options:

1 - Affable: They will be.

Rook: They’ve been ready for every fight before. I trust they’ll be prepared.

Scene continues. [5]

2 - Irreverent: As ready as anyone.

Rook: We’re battling two gods. Who is ever truly ready for that? But they’ll be prepared. I know they will.

Scene continues. [5]

3 - Tough: They’d better be.

Rook: Don’t have much choice. We need them. They’ll be ready. They know the stakes.

Scene continues. [5]

4 - Special: What about you, Mythal?

Rook: Only one of us has a fragment of a god inside them, Mythal.

Morrigan: I carry only her memories. Not her strength, nor her capacity for strategy.

Rook: Well. Either way, our allies will be ready.

Scene continues. [5]

5 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.

Morrigan: As they must be. There will not be another opportunity to foil the schemes of Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain. If we fail in this, they gain all that is needed to reshape the world in their twisted image. The evil put into place with the aid of their Antaam servants at Tearstone will cover the entire world.

Rook: Look, the gods can’t blight the world without their dagger. And they can’t finish their dagger until the eclipse, which isn’t for another—

The light from outside turns red, and they run outside to see an eclipse starting. There is a cut to the ritual site, where Elgar’nan uses a pool of blood to power his magic as he moves the sun/moon. His archdemon roars.

Rook: Elgar’nan!

Morrigan: While you gather your people, I will find the Inquisitor.

Rook starts to leave, but Morrigan stops them.

Morrigan: And Rook? I wish you great luck.

Rook returns to the Lighthouse, where the team gathers again in the library.

Lucanis: Elgar’nan just caused an eclipse. The gods can finish their dagger. We need to move, now.

Bellara: But… we were supposed to have weeks to prepare!

Neve: How much time do we actually have?

Varric: It’s not weeks, I can tell you that much.

Emmrich: The eclipse is slowly forcing an alignment between the stars and powerful currents in the Fade.

Taash: Which means what?

Emmrich: I’m afraid we’ve only a few hours until the gods complete their dagger.

Dialogue options:

6 - Affable: I should have expected this.

Rook: The gods were way too quiet after Arlathan. I should’ve known something was wrong.

Emmrich: No one could’ve anticipated this escalation.

Neve: Doesn’t matter now. We’re stuck with it.

Scene continues. [9]

7 - Tough: We have to do this.

Rook: Lucanis is right. We have to go, now.

Davrin: No time to scrape up an army, even if we had one.

Neve: You think we’re enough?

Scene continues. [9]

8 - Angry: Those damn idiots!

Rook: What are the gods thinking? They’re ripping open the sky!

Neve: For starters.

Scene continues. [9]

9 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.

Emmrich: What will we be facing on the island?

Taash: There’s gonna be blight crap.

Varric: And where there’s blight, darkspawn.

Harding: Right. Tearstone Island’s also crawling with the entire Antaam army.

Davrin: They’ve had time to prepare. It’ll be brutal.

Bellara: So will the gods. We’re walking right into their lair.

Lucanis: We may not all make it out again.

Dialogue options:
  • Affable: Everyone is counting on us.
Rook: We’re the only thing standing between every single living creature and the blight. I don’t want to watch the world fall and know I didn’t do everything I could.

  • Irreverent: At least we’ll be together.
Rook: But there’s no one else I’d rather do this with. No one.

  • Tough: Then let’s make them hurt.
Rook: Yeah. But if we’re going down, let’s go down swinging.

Rook: So let’s stop the gods. Whatever it takes.

Bellara: We’re with you. The gods won’t leave that island.

Harding: No matter what.

Davrin: No matter what.

Rook: Then we leave as soon as we can.
