Limited Conversation
Davrin: (Humming)
Rook: Sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt.
Davrin: Please do. I need to hear an actual voice now and then.
Assan: (Squawk)
Rook: Can’t imagine why.
Davrin: I’m starting to dream that I’m a griffon.
He looks at Assan.
Davrin: (Squawk)
Dialogue options:
1 - Affable: Nice parenting skills.
Rook: Well, you get high marks for effort.
Davrin: He’s toying with me.
2 - Sarcastic: Dream big.
Rook: Keep dreaming. It’s good to have goals in life.
Davrin: The real dream is getting him to take a nap.
3 - Stoic: Don’t be rude, Assan.
Rook: Assan, it’s bad manners to not answer someone.
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Davrin: Right. So what brings you by?
Origin dependent dialogue:
Rook: Nice to have a fellow Warden on the team. Our paths may not have crossed at Weisshaupt, but we have one experience in common…
Davrin: Ah, the Joining.
Rook: The moment they handed us a chalice with Archdemon blood…
Davrin: And the moment we took a sip…
Rook: What were we thinking?
Davrin: (Laughs) My head was exploding. You tell me.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: “It’s an honor.” [5]
- Sarcastic: “I thought this was ale?” [6]
- Stoic: “This is too easy.” [7]
- Afraid: “I’m dead and don’t know it.” [8]
- Angry: “Are you insane?” [9]
5 - Affable: “It’s an honor.”
Rook: It was nasty, but it was an honor. I was thinking, “I’ll carry the Warden standard with pride.”
Davrin: I was thinking that I might puke all over the standard.
Rook: An exemplary Warden in the making.
6 - Sarcastic: “I thought this was ale?”
Rook: I was thinking, “Wait… I thought this was ale?”
Davrin: Guess somebody wasn’t paying attention in class.
Rook: I thought the Joining was some prank they pulled on new recruits.
7 - Stoic: “This is too easy.”
Rook: I was thinking, “This is too easy. When does it get hard?”
Davrin: I don’t believe that for a second. Archdemon blood taking hold of your brain?
Rook: Hey, this Warden plays to win.
8 - Afraid: “I’m dead and don’t know it.”
Rook: I was thinking, “What’s happening? I’m dead and don’t know it!”
Davrin: I did know it. And I was pissed. If I was going to die drinking, why couldn’t it be hundred-year-old brandy?
Rook: The First Warden drank it all.
9 - Angry: “Are you insane?”
Rook: I was thinking “Are you all insane? I’m supposed to drink that?”
Davrin: What was their answer?
Rook: “Bottoms up, rookie!”
10 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Davrin: Good times.
Rook: Yeah. Though I can’t say I’ve got it all worked out, being a Warden.
Davrin: Feeling lost?
Dialogue options:
- Investigate: Thinking about the Calling. [11]
- Investigate (Pre-Weisshaupt): What about the First Warden? [12]
- Investigate (Post-Weisshaupt): Who’s in charge? [13]
- Investigate: You get to play with griffons. [14]
- Affable: Still learning. [15]
- Sarcastic: It’s nothing new. [16]
- Stoic: The First Warden lost me. [17]
- Sad (Post-Weisshaupt): Weisshaupt was rough. [18]
- Angry (Pre-Weisshaupt): We should be doing more! [19]
11 - Investigate: Thinking about the Calling.
Rook: Sometimes I think about the Calling. You hear stories about other Wardens who’ve left for theirs.
Rook: Here Warden, thanks for your long service. Now enjoy the creepy sound in your head.
Davrin: But don’t worry, that’s just an Archdemon calling out to darkspawn.
Rook: And before you succumb to that nasty blood you drank way back, how about you spend your final days in the Deep Roads?
Davrin: And take a few darkspawn out while you’re at it.
Rook: Nice knowing you!
Davrin: (Laughs) Can’t imagine why you’d be feeling lost.
12 - Investigate: What about the First Warden?
Rook: What’s the problem with our illustrious leader? Is the First Warden always a pain, or is it me?
Davrin: A bit of both. You know he’s all about discipline.
Rook: And I’m not?
Davrin: Well…
Rook: Okay, so maybe I like to keep things loose.
Davrin: And the First Warden wants everything lashed down tight. I can see why you might feel a little lost.
13 - Investigate: Who’s in charge?
Rook: Who runs the show now?
Davrin: Well, Evka came through at Weisshaupt.
Rook: Yeah. I wouldn’t mind her calling the shots.
Davrin: We could use some fresh blood at the top. Things got too rigid.
Rook: Just hope they have the strength to rebuild.
Davrin: I can understand you might feel a little lost.
14 - Investigate: You get to play with griffons.
Rook: Well, I find out we’ve secretly raised griffons this whole time, and you get to play with them. How did I miss that meeting?
Davrin: Nothing personal. I only got called in when the Gloom Howler showed up.
15 - Affable: Still learning.
Rook: Nothing like that. Just trying to learn the ropes.
Davrin: I’m not sure anyone’s really figured it out. What Wardens do for a living—it’s damned weird.
16 - Sarcastic: It’s nothing new.
Rook: I can’t say I’ve ever been found.
Davrin: (Laughs) Wouldn’t be a Grey Warden if you were. We’re all looking for somewhere to fit in.
17 - Stoic: The First Warden lost me.

| Rook: More like our esteemed First Warden is an impossible ass.Davrin: Let him be. You and I will sort this ourselves. | Rook: Feeling let down. If the First Warden had just listened in the beginning…Davrin: We still did the Wardens proud, all things considered. |
18 - Sad: Weisshaupt was rough.
Rook: Isn’t every Warden a little lost now? Weisshaupt’s gone. All we’ve known for a thousand years is out the window.
Davrin: You and I are still in the fight.
19 - Angry: We should be doing more!
Rook: The biggest fight we’ve ever seen is headed our way and the Grey Wardens are on the sidelines.
Davrin: You and I are in the thick of it.
20 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook: Not exactly the army of legend.
Davrin: Legend in the making. You go to war with the army you have.
| Pre-Weisshaupt | Post-Weisshaupt |

| Davrin: Weisshaupt will come through. | Davrin: Evka. Antoine. There’s still good Wardens left in the world. |
Davrin: Along with a very noisy griffon who’ll squawk the enemy to death.
Rook: No armor can withstand that.
Assan: (Shrieking squawk)
Davrin: Don’t encourage him.
Rook: Won’t happen again. See you two around.
Rook: Just curious, really. Wondering what it’s like being a Grey Warden. They’ve always been these legendary warriors living apart from the world.
Davrin: Don’t know about that. I spend time with people who were bad right up ‘til they took their vow.
Rook: How so?
| Pre-Weisshaupt | Post-Weisshaupt |
|---|---|
| Davrin: Weisshaupt is the last stop for the wrong sort. | Davrin: Weisshaupt was the last stop for the wrong sort. |
Davrin: If you’re facing prison or worse, you can always join the Grey Wardens and take your chances with the blight.
Dialogue options:
- Investigate (Pre-Weisshaupt): Why is the First Warden Angry? [5]
- Investigate: Who are the wrong sort? [6]
- Investigate (Pre-Weisshaupt): Tell me About Weisshaupt. [7]
- Flirt: You’re not like that. [8]
- I’d join the Wardens. [9]
- I prefer prison. [10]
5 - Investigate: Why is the First Warden Angry?
Rook: Has your First Warden always been, well…
Davrin: A stubborn bastard?
Rook: One way of putting it.
Davrin: He means well, in his own way. He’s old-fashioned. Tradition is everything. Keeps us disciplined. We never deviate from it.
Rook: He’ll have to. Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain won’t play by his rules.
Davrin: If he even believes in them. The man doesn’t have much imagination. Even the right sort can be the wrong sort.
6 - Investigate: Who are the wrong sort?
Rook: And just how, uh, wrong are the wrong sort?
Davrin: Thieves, brigands, pirates, and the odd murderer now and then.
Rook: Sounds fun right up to the murdering.
Davrin: At least now they’re murdering darkspawn.
7 - Investigate: Tell me about Weisshaupt.
Rook: I’ve heard about Weisshaupt. Never been there.
Davrin: It’s a giant fortress, and home of the Grey Wardens. It’s been standing for as long as anyone remembers. At least since the First Blight.
Rook: Does it have floating buildings like the Lighthouse?
Davrin: No, but things float up from the latrines.
Rook: Fun bunch you hang out with.
Davrin: The wrong sort have their charm.
8 - Flirt: You’re not like that.
Rook: You don’t seem the wrong sort.
Davrin: No one’s born a hero.
Rook: You’re really selling it.
Davrin: It gets better.
9 - I’d join the Wardens.
| Pre-Weisshaupt | Post-Weisshaupt |
|---|---|
| Rook: A hot meal and warm bed in Weisshaupt is better than rotting in some dungeon.Davrin: It would be. But the food’s always cold and Weisshaupt’s drafty in the winter. | Rook: A hot meal and warm bed is better than rotting in some dungeon.Davrin: You’re giving our cooks too much credit. |
Rook: You’re really selling it.
Davrin: It gets better.
10 - I prefer prison.
Rook: I’d rather take my chances in prison.
Davrin: Eh, it’s not all bad.
Rook: When does it get good?
11 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Davrin: When darkspawn threaten a village. When innocent people are in danger. Then we swoop in, swords held high, armor gleaming, while a hundred faces look to us for salvation. And they all live to see the sunrise because of what we do.
Rook: Okay, now I get it.
Davrin: Best part is the Warden fighting alongside you. Maybe they’ve done some bad things in the past. But after that day, it’s different. There’s some honor in their life where there wasn’t before. Nothing like seeing redemption happen before your eyes.
Dialogue options:
- Everyone deserves that. [12]
+ Davrin Approves - I hope it lasts. [13]
- Criminals are criminals. [14]
12 - Everyone deserves that.
Rook: We all need that chance. Put past sins to right.
Davrin: It makes the Wardens stronger to have people in our ranks who’ve lived in the shadows.
13 - I hope it lasts.
Rook: But do people really change, deep down? Or do they return to their old ways?
Davrin: Maybe we need a bit of both.
14 - Criminals are criminals.
Rook: Once a thief, always a thief.
Davrin: Yeah? Is that experience talking?
Rook: I’m just saying I’d watch my back if I was a Warden.
15 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Davrin: When the storm comes, you don’t want farmers and florists fighting Archdemons. It takes the wrong sort to put the world right.
Rook: Kind of like us, I suppose.

I’ll let you get back to it. | Davrin: Minus the skeleton butler.Rook: I don’t know—Manfred the Warden. Has a ring to it.Davrin: (Chuckles) How about we quit while we’re ahead? See you ‘round. |
