Conversation
Rook: You’re up late.
Neve: You’re awake to notice.
Rook: Can’t sleep? I know. I’m awake to ask.
Neve: I sleep when I can get it. And this place… it’s too quiet for that.

1 - I like the quiet.
Rook: You don’t find it peaceful?
| Mourn Watcher Rook | Shadow Dragon Rook | Other |

| Neve: I’m guessing the Necropolis was quiet?Rook: Not as much as people think, but yes. | Neve: You sure you’re from Minrathous?Rook: Change of pace. It’s getting to me. | Neve: Minrathous is never quiet.Rook: And that was peaceful?Neve: It was familiar. |
2 - Can’t trust “quiet” here.
Rook: Way too quiet. And peaceful. Who knows what’s hiding in the walls? Seriously.
Neve: (Chuckles)
3 - Try some tea?
Rook: Have you tried tea?
Neve: You think that works?
Rook: It does if you believe.
4 - Antivan Crow: “Quiet” can be dangerous.
Rook: When things were “too quiet” back home—it meant a night off or a knife in the back.
Neve: Now there’s a deadly coin toss.
Rook: You’re telling me.
5 - Grey Warden: Quiet means safe.
Rook: Quiet’s good. Quiet means darkspawn haven’t shown up. Or they have, but they aren’t currently trying to eat your liver.
6 - Shadow Dragon: I know what you mean.
Rook: No tavern-goers, no late-night carts. No cats trying to claim the alley behind your house.
Neve: The Minrathous lullaby.
7 - Veil Jumper: Quiet is tricky.
Rook: Working with the Veil Jumpers, if things are loud, that’s a problem. If they’re bizarrely silent, also a problem.
Neve: So you like the right amount of quiet?
Rook: (Chuckles) If I can find it.
8 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook: Okay, what works then? How do you sleep?
Neve: I don’t know. Chase the right bastard through the wrong ritual—it’ll knock you right out. Of course, you might wake up with a new accessory…
Dialogue options:
- Affable: I can’t imagine. [9]
- Sarcastic: Wait. Is that true? [10]
- Stoic: What happened to the bastard? [11]
9 - Affable: I can’t imagine.
Rook: Well, that must have been something.
Neve: There was a bit more in the middle, but yeah.
10 - Sarcastic: Wait. Is that true?
Rook: Really? You woke up and…
Neve: Just like that.
Rook: Huh. Wow.
Neve: (Laughs) There was a bit more in the middle. The ritual did a number.
Rook: And now?
Neve: It’s not what keeps me up at night.
11 - Stoic: What happened to the bastard?
Rook: Did you get the bastard?
Neve: Yeah. I got him.
12 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Neve: It’s not the quiet. I never could sleep once work gets in my head. But what’s got you up at night?
Dialogue options:
- Everything the gods have done. [13]
- I’m restless, too. [14]
- I sleep well, actually. [15]
- Non-Dwarf: My own bad dreams. [16]
- Grey Warden: Warden dreams. Bad ones. [17]
13 - Everything the gods have done.
Rook: When I close my eyes… I see everything the gods have done, but not what I should do next. I don’t know what’s going to happen.
Neve: You and me both.
14 - I’m restless, too.
Rook: Same. Can’t sit still. Can’t stop thinking about… everything.
Neve: There’s always something to chase.
15 - I sleep well, actually.
Rook: Tonight? I don’t know. It’s not like I’ve got problems sleeping.
Neve: Aren’t you lucky.
Rook: Exhaustion. Works like a charm.
16 - Non-Dwarf: My own bad dreams.
Rook: My dreams have been… less than good. I guess there’s a lot on my mind.
Neve: Can’t imagine why.
17 - Grey Warden: Warden dreams. Bad ones.
| Dwarf Rook | Non-Dwarf Rook |
|---|---|
| Rook: When you’re a Warden, the darkspawn’s song is part of you. You see things in your sleep—like dreams. Even dwarves. | Rook: When you’re a Warden… the darkspawn’s song is part of you. It’s in your head, your dreams. |
Rook: Not all the time, but… I was told full Blights make it worse. I just… I wasn’t ready for how much.
Neve: No sweet dreams for heroes?
Rook: (Laughs) Not so much.
18 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Neve: Restlessness catches. Get one person in a room nervous, the whole place twitches. One person can’t sleep… It’s only getting later. Get out while you can.

Neve: Don’t tell me you’re a lost cause.
Rook: I might be.
Neve: I know the feeling.
Scene ends.
20 - Affable: Okay. Sleep does sound good.
Rook: All right. I’ll give sleep a shot. Goodnight, Neve.
Neve: I’d say sweet dreams but… how’s dreamless work for you?
Rook: (Laughs) We’ll see.
Neve: Good night, Rook.
Scene ends.
21 - Sarcastic: I’ll survive.
Rook: A late night won’t kill me.
Neve: Say that again in the morning.
Rook: Ugh. Early mornings. Now those might kill me.
Scene ends.
22 - Stoic: Try your own advice.
Rook: You ever follow your own advice?
Neve: Never the good stuff.
Scene ends.
