Nice and Quiet
The party meets up at the eluvian in the Lighthouse.
Rook: Everyone suit up. All hands for this one.
Davrin: Still can’t believe it. They’re attacking Weisshaupt The Wardens aren’t prepared for that.
Rook: The gods are going straight for the throat. Unless we cut theirs first…
Lucanis: Just get me close enough.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: No problem. [1]
+ Lucanis Approves - Stoic: Make it count. [2]
- Angry: Make them pay. [3]
1 - Affable: No problem.
Rook: With pleasure.
Lucanis: Time to see what this letter-opener can do.
2 - Stoic: Make it count.
Rook: Just don’t miss.
Lucanis: Don’t jinx it.
3 - Angry: Make them pay.
Rook: Whatever you do, make them pay.
Lucanis: I always collect.
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Taash: Who gets to tell the First Warden we’re dropping in?
Rook: I was hoping to skip that part.
Davrin: They’ve got an eluvian in storage, down in the vault. It was a gift from the Dalish.
Bellara: Ours should go right to it. Probably. I think.
Rook: Let’s get to it, then. We sneak into Weisshaupt nice and quiet. No one sees us. We look around for Antoine and Evka.
Neve: Was there a plan after that?
Rook: Take out a god. End this today.
Rook steps through the eluvian and emerges in the blacksmith storage of Weisshaupt. If Lucanis is in the immediate party, Neve follows in behind them. If Lucanis is not, he follows in last.
Davrin: This isn’t the vault.
Rook: Ah, crap. They moved the eluvian.
The ground shakes with booming sound, and Lucanis/Neve leap back through the eluvian. The wall collapses, and the eluvian falls backwards though the opening, crashing to the ground below with a loud thud. Whoever leapt back through the eluvian looks up from below.
Davrin: It didn’t break.
- Lucanis: You call that “nice and quiet?”
- Neve: Venhedis!
Rook: Sorry! Catch up when you can!
A little girl hiding nearby hushes them.
Mila: Shhh! Darkspawn outside!
Davrin: Darkspawn? In Weisshaupt?
Mila: Just outside the door.
Rook: Stay out of sight—?
Mila: Mila.
Rook: Sit tight, Mila. We’ll be back.
They exit the storage room into the courtyard, and are greeted by Wardens and darkspawn fighting in chaos. Rook joins the fray.
Grey Warden: The Maker curse you! (Dying scream)
Rook: Clear ‘em out!
Davrin: Don’t let them near the girl!
- Bellara: They sure got here fast!
- Emmrich: How did they arrive so quickly?
- Harding: How’d they get here so fast?
- Lucanis: They’re faster than us.
- Neve: They got here fast enough!
- Taash: They got here fast!
Davrin: They’ve got the gods at their back.
Rook: Where are all the Wardens?
- Bellara: Sounds to me like a battle outside!
- Emmrich: Occupied in battle, from the sound of it!
- Harding: Sounds like a battle outside!
- Lucanis: Fighting outside, from the sound.
- Neve: Busy! Sounds like a battle outside!
- Taash: There’s a fight outside!
Davrin: We’re on our own!
They defeat the darkspawn in the courtyard.
- Bellara: Okay! That’s all of them.
- Emmrich: That’s the last of them.
- Harding: I think we got all of them.
- Lucanis: That’s all of them. For now.
- Neve: Well, that got them.
- Taash: Got ‘em all.
Mila: At least it wasn’t ogres.
Davrin: You know your darkspawn.
Mila: My dad’s a blacksmith for the Wardens. Who are you?
Rook: Rook. We’re here to help. Do you know Antoine and Evka?
Mila: Probably in the war room. I can show you.
She runs off.
Mila: Oh, no. The door’s blocked.
Rook: Is there another way?
Mila: A secret passage. Come on.
They follow Mila, and come across a room full of dead darkspawn and a Grey Warden corpse.
Rook: Oh, damn.
Davrin: That’s Commander Janos. One of our best.
- Bellara: He didn’t go down without a fight.
- Emmrich: He won his fight. And I sense the end was swift.
- Harding: Took a darkspawn out with him.
- Lucanis: He took them down with him.
- Neve: He went down fighting.
- Taash: He took a lot down with him.
Rook pulls a sword from a darkspawn pinned to the wall, revealing a secret passage. They head into the barraks.
- Bellara: When did the darkspawn show up, Mila?
- Emmrich: When did the darkspawn arrive, Mila?
- Harding: When did the darkspawn attack, Mila?
- Lucanis: When did the darkspawn attack, Mila?
- Neve: Mila. When did the darkspawn attack?
- Taash: Hey. Mila. When did the darkspawn show up?
Mila: Just a while ago. They started climbing the walls.
Rook: You should stay here.
Mila: I can’t. I need to find my dad.
Rook: There’s worse than darkspawn on the way.
Davrin: And walls won’t hold it back.
To the War Room
Rook pushes open the doors, revealing a massive visage of Ghilan’nain in the clouds.
Ghilan’nain: Grey Wardens. I wield the power of the blight.
(Archdemons roars)
The archdemon swoops down, destroying some of the landing and taking out a bunch of Wardens.
Ghilan’nain: Today, you face the finest child of the gods!
Grey Warden: (Dying scream)
- Bellara: It’s Ghilan’nain! She brought a dragon!
- Emmrich: It’s Ghilan’nain! She’s brought a dragon!
- Harding: That’s a dragon! Ghilan’nain has a dragon!
- Lucanis: A dragon. Ghilan’nain brought a bloody dragon.
- Neve: Ghilan’nain! And she brought a dragon!
- Taash: That’s gotta be Ghilan’nain’s dragon!
Davrin: Worse! That’s an Archdemon!
Rook: We have to get inside!
Mila: The war room isn’t far!
Rook: Stick close, Mila!
Davrin: (Pained grunt)
- Bellara: Davrin. You okay?
- Emmrich: Davrin! Are you hurt?
- Harding: Davrin!
- Lucanis: Davrin?
- Neve: Davrin. What’s wrong?
Davrin: Wardens… we can sense an Archdemon… I can hear the Calling…
Grey Warden Rook | Non-Grey Warden Rook |
---|---|
Rook: I hear it, too. Head’s splitting… We’ll just push through it. | Davrin: Splitting headache… but I’ll make it. |
The archdemon shrieks and then swoops down, destroying more of the fortress. The party defeats the nearby darkspawn.
Rook: Mila, where are you?
Mila: Over here! I’m fine!
Rook: How you doing, Mila?
- Mila: Better than you!
- Mila: Don’t worry about me!
Davrin: Mila, be careful!
Mila: I’ll watch out for you!
- Bellara: This whole plan just got a lot harder! How’s Lucanis going to kill a cloud with a dagger?
- Emmrich: We need a new plan, Rook! How can Lucanis kill a god in the form of a cloud with a dagger?
- Harding: This plan’s not gonna work, Rook! How’s Lucanis supposed to kill a cloud with a dagger?
- Lucanis: She’s a cloud! How do I kill a cloud with a dagger?
- Neve: Well, this went sideways! How’s Lucanis going to kill a cloud with a dagger?
- Taash: This plan just went to shit! How’s Lucanis gonna kill a cloud with a dagger?
Rook: One thing at a time! For now, let’s not die out here!
They continue. Darkspawn rain from the sky
- Bellara: There’s also a lot of darkspawn down there! Can Weisshaupt hold?
- Emmrich: There’s an army of darkspawn below us! Will Weisshaupt hold?
- Harding: Look at all those darkspawn down there! Can Weisshaupt hold?
- Lucanis: Look at all those darkspawn! Will Weisshaupt hold?
- Neve: There’s a lot of darkspawn down there! Can Weisshaupt hold?
- Taash: Lot of darkspawn down there! Is Weisshaupt gonna hold?
Davrin: It’s never fallen before, and it won’t today!
They find more Wardens fighting darkspawn.
- Grey Warden: Darkspawn breached the wall!
- Grey Warden: Push them back!
- Grey Warden: Where’s Commander Janos?
- Grey Warden: (Dying scream)
- Grey Warden: Reinforce the battlements!
Ghilan’nain: Witness my most perfect creation. Powerful. Quick. And I have returned much of her cunning.
They fight.
Ghilan’nain: My creation’s power is greater than any weapon you possess.
Ghilan’nain: The final Blight is upon you, Wardens.
Ghilan’nain: Cease struggling. Lie down. My dragon will be swift.
The defeat the darkspawn.
Mila: The war room’s ahead!
Rook: You’ll be safe there.
Mila: I need to find my dad!
Rook: By yourself?
Mila: There’s places to hide. Darkspawn won’t find me!
That’s an Order
Rook finally reaches the war room, where the First Warden, Antoine, Evka, and other Wardens are gathered.
Mila: Good luck!
She heads off in a different direction.
Grey Warden: Archdemon’s attacking the north wall!
Evka: Signal a retreat! Fall back to the trap!
Grey Warden:Can’t see the signal fires through the smoke!
Evka: Try the horns!
Grey Warden:The Archdemon’s too loud!
Behind them, the First Warden hunches over a map.
First Warden: No one’s retreating.
Evka: There’s no choice, ser. We’re under siege—we have to fall back to the dragon trap!
First Warden: Forget the trap. Send word to Commander Janos. Rally outside the wall.
Rook: Janos is dead.
Rook walks up, throwing a broken blade on the table.
First Warden: Rook? What are you doing here?
Dialogue options:
- Affable: Helping out. [1]
- Sarcastic: What do you think? [2]
- Stoic: Fighting your battle. [3]
- Afraid: Trying not to die. [4]
- Angry: You didn’t listen. [5]
1 - Affable: Helping out.
Rook: You need all the help you can get.
First Warden: You’ve caused enough trouble.
2 - Sarcastic: What do you think?
Rook: What does it look like? You need help, and I think we—
First Warden: You can figure it out in the dungeon.
3 - Stoic: Fighting your battle.
Rook: Trying to save your ass.
First Warden: Yours will rot in the dungeon.
4 - Afraid: Trying not to die.
Rook: Wishing I wasn’t. You’ve got ten thousand darkspawn outside the door. We’re probably dead already.
First Warden: Then I have somewhere safe for you.
5 - Angry: You didn’t listen.
Rook: I’m here because you didn’t listen. Now it’s too late.
First Warden: For you it is.
6 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook: Better than what Janos got. What about all the other Wardens?
First Warden: Arrest them!
He moves to leave, but Antoine steps in his way.
Antoine: Non! You need to listen to them! We are under attack by a god!
First Warden: Do you hear yourself? There’s no such thing. Stop finding excuses to be a coward.
First Warden: We’ll stop the enemy outside the walls.
Rook breaks out of the grip one of the Wardens has on them.
Rook: The enemy is outside the window.
First Warden: Grey Wardens don’t hide in our castle. I won’t ask good soldiers to turn tail and run. We’re an army of steel holding back the blight. Order every blade out of Weisshaupt.
Evka: We’ll all die, ser!
First Warden: That’s an order, Warden!

Rook: First Warden… you’re confused. Notice the blood in your ear? It’s the Calling, isn’t it? The Archdemon’s messing with your mind while its master mocks you.
First Warden: No one mocks the Wardens.
Rook: Of course not. You’re the only force in Thedas that can stop this. But not if they burn your castle to the ground.
First Warden: Not on my watch.
Rook: This is your watch. Unless you become the leader who defied a god.
First Warden: They’ll know our steel.
The archdemon flies by, destroying part of the room. Rook ducks behind the table.
First Warden: Get down! Antoine, the dragon trap—what needs to be done?
Antoine: It’s 900 years old! Never been used!
First Warden: Rook, get to the trap. Get it working.
Rook: Me?
First Warden: You were right. I wasn’t. Now go show this god what mortals are made of.
Antoine: It’s on the other side of the fortress.
First Warden: We’ll have your back.
Rook: I’ll hold you to that. Come on!
8 - Well, I tried talking.
Rook: Can’t say I didn’t try…
Rook punches him.
First Warden: (Pained grunt)
The nearby Wardens draw their swords, but Evka stands in their way.
Evka: No. Listen to Rook. That’s… an order. Okay, Rook—I assume you have a plan?
Rook: This dragon trap—tell me about it.
Antoine: It was built 900 years ago to stop an Archdemon, but—
Rook: Get down!
The archdemon flies by, destroying part of the room. Rook ducks behind the table.
Rook: Where’s the trap?
Antoine: Other side of the fortress! But it’s never been used!
Rook: It only has to work once! Let’s go!
9 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook heads off.
Traversing the Walls
Rook: All right, this is about to get a lot worse. You ready?
Davrin: Have to be. It’s us—or nobody.
They head back out into the fray.
Rook: Stay behind the Wardens, and we can do this!
The Wardens die in a burst of archdemon flame.
Davrin: No!
Rook: Damn it!
Ghilan’nain: Outnumbered. Trapped. You will not hold.
(Archdemon roars)
Ghilan’nain: Your fortress offers no protection. There is nowhere to hide.
Ghilan’nain: Surrender to your fates. Defeat. Death. Reconstruction.
Ghilan’nain: Your deaths will not be wasted. There is potential for new forms in your flesh.
They continue fighting.
Davrin: Got ‘em. Now let’s get past this blight.
- Bellara: Right. Then to the trap. Which is where?
- Emmrich: How much further to the trap?
- Harding: Are we far from the trap?
- Lucanis: How far is it to the trap?
- Neve: How far to the trap?
- Taash: Where’s the trap?
Davrin: Far enough we’ll have to fight our way to it.
They way is blocked by blight.
Davrin: We have to get past this blight.
Rook starts to destroy the boils.
Grey Warden: The south gate’s been overrun!
Davrin: We have to get through here! It’s the only way!
Rook: Wardens, hang on!
Rook bursts through the blight boil to continue to the front gate wall.
Grey Warden: Darkspawn coming up the walls!
The archdemon flies past Rook.
Grey Warden: We’re surrounded!
Grey Warden: (Dying scream)
Grey Warden: Signal for reinforcements!
Grey Warden: There are none!
Grey Warden: (Dying scream)
- Bellara: Shit! They killed the Wardens!
- Emmrich: They slew the Wardens!
- Harding: They killed the Wardens!
- Lucanis: They got the Wardens!
- Neve: They got the Wardens! Damn it!
- Taash: The Wardens are down!
Davrin: Die, the lot of you!
(Horn blasts)
- Bellara: What’s that horn for?
- Emmrich: What’s that horn mean?
- Harding: What’s that sound?
- Lucanis: What does the horn mean?
- Neve: What does the horn mean?
- Taash: What’s the horn?
Davrin: Calling reinforcements to the east battlements!
- Bellara: Umm. Aren’t we at…?
- Emmrich: And where are we?
- Harding: Where are we?
- Lucanis: Where are we?
- Neve: Where are we?
- Taash: Where are we?
They keep fighting.

They continue fighting.
- Bellara: There’s too many! We can’t break this siege by ourselves!
- Emmrich: We’re outnumbered, Rook. We can’t break the siege by ourselves!
- Harding: We can’t take all of them ourselves!
- Lucanis: We cannot take out this many darkspawn ourselves, Rook!
- Neve: We won’t break the siege ourselves! There’s more than too many!
- Taash: There’s too many of ‘em! We can’t take ‘em all ourselves!
Rook: Not trying to! Just need to trap that Archdemon!
They clear some of the darkspawn and start to destroy the nearby blight.
Rook: Push ahead! We have to keep moving!
Rook: More of them up here!
They defeat the darkspawn.
- Bellara: Okay! We’re good, Rook!
- Emmrich: That’s the last of them.
- Harding: We’re in the clear, Rook!
- Lucanis: We’re clear.
- Neve: Looks like we’re good.
- Taash: ‘Kay! We’re clear for now!
Rook: Keep moving.
More blight blocks the way.
Davrin: Rook, there’s a ballista over there you can use!
They find more blight.
- Bellara: This way’s blocked!
- Emmrich: This way is blocked!
- Harding: We’re stuck!
- Lucanis: No good!
- Neve: This way’s blocked!
- Taash: We’re blocked!
Rook: Time to improvise! Maybe that ballista can help.
- Bellara: If we can get all the gunk out of it.
- Emmrich: If we can clean the blight from it.
- Harding: Does it work? It’s all crusty!
- Lucanis: If it wasn’t under a pile of blight, maybe.
- Neve: If we can clean it up a bit.
- Taash: Got a lot of crap on it.
Rook clears the blight off the ballista.
- Bellara: Why not shoot the dragon with it?
- Emmrich: Why not aim for Ghilan’nain’s dragon?
- Harding: Just aim it at the dragon!
- Lucanis: Why not shoot the dragon?
- Neve: Can we shoot the dragon with that?
Davrin: It’s not a dragon. And it takes more than a ballista to kill one.
- Taash: Ballista’d be useful against a normal dragon. Davrin: It won’t even scratch an Archdemon.
Rook clears up the blight.
Rook: There! We can get through!
- Bellara: So can the darkspawn! Watch out!
- Emmrich: So can the darkspawn ahead!
- Harding: That means the darkspawn can, too!
- Lucanis: So can the darkspawn!
- Neve: So can the darkspawn! Watch yourself!
- Taash: So can the darkspawn! Heads up!
They fight through the darkspawn.
Ghilan’nain: You fight what you call the blight. Pointless. It was always ours to control.
(Horn blasts)
- Bellara: Two horns—what does that mean?
- Emmrich: Two horns—what does that mean?
- Harding: Two horns—what does that mean?
- Lucanis: That’s not good, is it?
- Neve: Two horns—what does that mean?
- Taash: Two horns—what’ve we got?

Davrin: We’re getting close. We’ll cut across the wall.

Rook: If this is the wall, it’s gone.
Davrin: There’s another way to the trap—through the library. Takes longer, but it’ll get us there.
Rook: Let’s do it.

Bellara/Emmrich/Harding/Lucanis/Neve/Taash: Darkspawn!
Rook: Yeah, I know! Maybe we should get back on the wall!
Davrin: This is the only way!
- Bellara: I don’t like that sound!
- Emmrich: What’s that sound?
- Harding: Anyone hear that noise?
- Lucanis: Do you hear that?
- Neve: What’s that noise?
- Taash: Hear that?
Davrin: It’s coming from the gate!
Rook: Sounds like ten thousand darkspawn knocking on the door!
Davrin: Destroy that blight! Or there’ll be no end to these darkspawn!
- Bellara: Any minute now, that gate’s coming down!
- Emmrich: The gate won’t hold much longer!
- Harding: The gate’s not gonna hold!
- Lucanis: That gate’s about to fall!
- Neve: That gate’s coming down. Any minute now too!

Rook: You hear that? Must be the bell tower.
- Bellara: Sounds pretty close!
- Emmrich: It sounds close.
- Harding: It can’t be far!
- Lucanis: Sounds like it’s close.
- Neve: Doesn’t sound far.
- Taash: That’s not far.
Davrin: I still can’t believe there’s darkspawn inside Weisshaupt! Right here’s where I took my vows to fight them!
Grey Warden Rook: Rook: You and me both. At least we’re keeping our end of the bargain!
-
Bellara: Do they ever stop coming?
Rook: Only if we kill Ghilan’nain! -
Emmrich: Is there any end to them?
Rook: Only if we kill Ghilan’nain! -
Harding: Will they ever stop coming?
Rook: Only if we kill Ghilan’nain! -
Lucanis: Is there an end to all of this?
Rook: Only if you kill Ghilan’nain!
Lucanis: Right. I’ll get on that, then. -
Neve: Is there an end to them?
Rook: Only if we kill Ghilan’nain! -
Taash: These assholes ever give up?
Rook: Only if we kill Ghilan’nain!
They continue to fight.
Davrin: Die! Now!
The nearby wall begins to shake, and a massive darkspawn bursts through.
Davrin: Watch it! Got another one coming through the wall!
- Bellara: Oh, shit! Big, too!
- Emmrich: A stronger one, at that!
- Harding: A nasty one, too!
- Lucanis: He’s a big one.
- Neve: Doesn’t look friendly!
- Taash: He’s pretty big!
They defeat the Relentless Wall.
Davrin: That did it.
Rook: The bell’s still ringing. Let’s get there.
Rook breaks through more blight.
Davrin: There. The bell tower ahead. We can get out of this mess.
(Archdemon roars)
It flies past, smashing the top of the bell tower as it goes.
- Bellara: No!
- Emmrich: No!
- Harding: Oh, no.
- Lucanis: No!
- Neve: That’s not good!
- Taash: No!
Rook: Hang in there. We’ll find another way.
- Bellara: Now what do we do?
- Emmrich: What now, Rook?
- Harding: Now what?
- Lucanis: What’s the plan now?
- Neve: So what now?
- Taash: What do we do?
Rook: I don’t know. But we don’t quit. There’s a way out of this mess somewhere.

Trapped
They turn the corner and Mila runs ahead.
Davrin: We’re here!
Rook: Quick! Inside the library!
A bunch of darkspawn attack.
- Bellara: Not so fast! Darkspawn!
- Emmrich: More darkspawn ahead!
- Harding: Ugh, more darkspawn!
- Lucanis: We’ve got more darkspawn!
- Neve: Just our luck! Darkspawn!
- Taash: Watch it! Darkspawn!
Rook: Cut ‘em down! We can’t get stuck out here!
- Bellara: Hurlocks! Coming right at us!
- Emmrich: There’s hurlocks coming for us!
- Harding: Hurlocks coming!
- Lucanis: Hurlocks coming our way!
- Taash: Hurlocks coming our way!
Davrin: Let ‘em try! I’m good at killing those!
Ghilan’nain: Darkspawn! The Grey Wardens hide. Tear them from their tower.
An ogre appears.
Rook: Mila! Find somewhere safe to hide!
Mila: I’ll be over here!
Ghilan’nain: Pry the mortals from the walls. Kill them all.
A second ogre joins the fight.
Rook: Watch out! Another ogre!
- Bellara: This isn’t over yet!
- Emmrich: Stand strong!
- Harding: Keep going!
- Lucanis: Keep fighting!
- Neve: We’re not done yet!
- Taash: Not done yet!
Ghilan’nain: Your battle is already lost.
- Bellara: Davrin, you ever fight this many?
- Emmrich: Have you ever fought so many darkspawn, Davrin?
- Harding: I can’t believe how many darkspawn there are!
- Lucanis: Davrin, have you ever fought this many before?
- Neve: Davrin. Tell me you’ve fought this many before.
- Taash: Hey! Davrin! You ever fight this many before?
Davrin: I killed that one’s cousin last week! Must’ve pissed him off!
Ghilan’nain: The Wardens cower. Hopeless. Overrun. Dying.
Davrin: (Frustrated yell) I can’t keep this up much longer!
- Bellara: Me neither!
- Emmrich: Neither can I!
- Harding: We can’t take much more, Rook!
- Lucanis: Mierda!
- Neve: Same here!
- Taash: (Growls in frustration)
Rook: Yes, you can! We didn’t come this far for nothing!
Ghilan’nain: Take the Wardens but keep their flesh!
Just when they start to thin the enemies, more rain from the sky.
Davrin: The ghouls are back!
Rook: Persistent bastards!
- Bellara: They made a run for the library! They’re trying to get inside!
- Emmrich: The darkspawn are breaking into the library!
- Harding: They made a run for the library! They’re trying to get inside!
- Lucanis: They’re trying to get inside!
- Neve: They’ve made a move on the library! They’re trying to get inside!
- Taash: They’re trying to hit the library!
Rook: Not before we do! Stop them!
They run to the library doors.
- Bellara: The door’s locked! We’re trapped!
- Emmrich: The door’s locked! We’re trapped.
- Harding: Door’s locked! We’re trapped!
- Lucanis: The door’s locked! We’re trapped!
- Neve: Door’s locked! We’re trapped!
- Taash: The door’s locked! We’re stuck out here!
Rook: Then we make our last stand if we have to!
The door behinds them opens.

Rook: Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Davrin: If this door doesn’t hold, all bets are off.
Rook: What about the dragon trap?
Holden: The trap’ll work.
A man walks up with a large hammer, hitting a lever contraption that locks the door.
Holden: Take it from a blacksmith… You set it off and get out of the way.
Mila: Dad!
Holden: Mila!
Mila: I told you not to get lost!
Holden: Hope she wasn’t too much trouble?
Dialogue options:
1 - Affable: Not at all.
Rook: The right kind of trouble. She saved our butts.
Mila: Any time.
2 - Sarcastic: She can work for us.
Rook: Can we hire her?
Mila: You don’t have enough gold.
3 - Stoic: The whole time.
Rook: She’s no picnic. But you might have a future Warden there.
Mila: When do I get a sword?
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree. The archdemon roars in the background.
Holden: The real problem is getting that dragon to land.
Rook: Lucanis, the dagger.
Lucanis hands the dagger to Rook.
Rook: I guarantee this will get Ghilan’nain’s attention.
Lucanis: And then?
Rook: She sends the Archdemon after me. We trap it, Davrin kills it, and Lucanis… you take your shot.
Lucanis: Just like that?
Dialogue options:
- Affable: We have to try. [5]
- Stoic: We fight to the end. [6]
+ Lucanis Approves - Afraid: It’s our only option. [7]
5 - Affable: We have to try.
Rook: It could work.
Lucanis: More likely you’ll die trying.
Rook: If I don’t try, a lot more people will die—today, then tomorrow… It won’t end.
6 - Stoic: We fight to the end.
Rook: I’m not going down without a fight.
Lucanis: Is this one you can win?
Rook: I mean to find out.
7 - Afraid: It’s our only option.
Rook: It’s the best I’ve got.
Lucanis: It’ll probably get you killed.
Rook: Better than dying here.
8 - Scene continues.

Evka: Right. Then let’s go. No one’s seen the First Warden…Rook: We did. Don’t think he made it.Evka: I see. Well… the others will rally around his sacrifice.Rook: Be ready for it. Come on. | Evka: Right. Then let’s do this… while the Wardens still listen to me.Rook: Evka, you’re alive.Evka: The blight and I had a little disagreement. I’ll rally the others. Someone decked the First Warden and left me in charge.Rook: I was practicing for an Archdemon. Let’s get to it. |
Davrin: I know a way to the trap.
The Library
Rook speaks to Holden in the library.
Holden: Once this is over, there’s an old eluvian here that could be our escape.
Rook: Yeah, it, uh, kinda fell out of the building.
Holden: Oh? Well, if I can borrow some of your people, we’ll get it right again.
They head up the elevator and find a bunch of blight blocking the shelves.
- Bellara: What happened here?
- Emmrich: The condition of these books! What happened?
- Harding: Whoa, this is a mess. What happened?
- Lucanis: Mierda. What is this?
- Neve: The infamous library. What happened here?
- Taash: Wow. What happened to this place?
Rook: Ghilan’nain.
Davrin: She’s infecting everything.
Rook: Let’s just find our way through this mess.
Davrin: Should be a door on the other side. That’ll put us near the trap.
- Bellara: Right. Once we clear out the blight, at least.
- Emmrich: We must clear out this blight first.
- Harding: Let’s get rid of this blight then.
- Lucanis: Straight through the blight.
- Neve: Need to clear the blight out first.
- Taash: Need to clear out this blight first.
They start to clear the blight.
- Bellara: When we trap this Archdemon, doesn’t a Grey Warden have to kill it? Isn’t that how it works?
- Emmrich: When we trap this Archdemon, doesn’t a Grey Warden have to land the last blow?
- Harding: Once the Archdemon’s trapped, a Warden has to kill it, right?
- Lucanis: This trap… I thought only a Grey Warden could kill an Archdemon.
- Neve: When we trap the Archdemon, a Grey Warden has to kill it. Is that how it works?
- Taash: Hey. What happens after we trap the Archdemon. A Grey Warden kills it?
Grey Warden Rook | Non-Grey Warden Rook |

Rook: Yeah. And die doing it. | Davrin: It’s true. And die doing it. |
- Bellara: What?
- Emmrich: What?
- Harding: Oh, that’s right.
- Lucanis: What?
- Neve: What?
- Taash: What?
Davrin: It’s complicated. But every Warden is prepared for the sacrifice. I’m ready.
Grey Warden Rook | Non-Grey Warden Rook |

Rook: I’m a Warden, too.Davrin: But you’re the Warden leading this outfit. People need you alive. Has to be me that kills it. Maybe they’ll hang my portrait in here someday. |
|
Davrin: Who knows? Maybe they’ll hang my portrait in here someday.
Rook: It’s not over yet.
Davrin: Will be soon enough.

Lucanis: Davrin, we’ve had our differences, but you have my utmost respect for making the sacrifice.Davrin: And I know you’ll finish the job and kill Ghilan’nain.Lucanis: Easier said than done. I’m good, but even I cannot kill a cloud-face with a knife.Rook: Don’t worry. We’ll think of something. |
|
Rook: That’s why we came here.
- Bellara: But how? She’s in the sky.
- Emmrich: How will he reach her in the sky?
- Harding: But how? She’s up there. And she’s enormous.
- Neve: There’s a question of how. She’s in the sky.
- Taash: But she’s still way up there.
Rook: One impossible thing at a time.
If Rook tries to leave before clearing out all the blight:
Rook: This stuff’s a pain in the ass.
Davrin: Still need to get rid of some more.
They finish clearing the blight.
Davrin: That should do it. Let’s get out there.
They get to the door.
Davrin: There’s the way out.
They leave the library and head back onto the battlements.
Rook: There, that griffon statue! I’ll get Ghilan’nain’s attention!
- Bellara: Let’s get you through this mess.
- Emmrich: We’ll help you push past the darkspawn.
- Harding: And we’ll help you get past all this!
- Lucanis: We’ll cut you a path.
- Neve: Then let’s get you through this mess.
- Taash: We’ll get you there!
They fight.
Ghilan’nain: Behold an Archdemon’s wrath!
Ghilan’nain: Your fortress crumbles. My creation will not be denied.
Ghilan’nain: Screams. Prayers. Useless.
Ghilan’nain: My Archdemon will close the age of the Grey Wardens.
In Death, Sacrifice
Rook takes the dagger and steps out into the open.
Rook: And now I die…
They hold the dagger aloft.
Rook: Hey Ghilan’nain! Come down here and fight!
Ghilan’nain: The Dread Wolf’s knife? Retrieve it!
Ghilan’nain approaches in the clouds, and the archdemon roars overhead.
Rook: Ah, crap…
The archdemon lands.
Rook: Come on, come on…
It swipes, and then triggers the trap.
Ghilan’nain: (Enraged scream)
The dragon falls. Davrin walks past Rook.
Davrin: (Hard breaths)
Rook: Davrin—
Davrin: Give Assan a hug for me.
Choice dependent dialogue:
First Warden: Stay your blade, Warden.
Davrin: Ser—
The First Warden stumbles down the steps.
First Warden: (Pained breaths) (Coughs) Let an old man spill the blood today. And make amends for his mistakes.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: All is forgiven. [1]
- Sarcastic: Don’t make any more. [2]
- Stoic: Die well. [3]
- Grey Warden: It’s an honor. [4]
1 - Affable: All is forgiven.
Rook: No hard feelings.
First Warden: There should be. (Coughs) But thanks for lying to a dead man.
2 - Sarcastic: Don’t make any more.
Rook: Just don’t miss.
First Warden: Laughs grimly, coughs) And don’t you miss killing that bloody god.
3 - Stoic: Die well.
Rook: May your blade strike fast and true.
First Warden: (Coughs) Better late than never.
4 - Grey Warden: It’s an honor.
Rook: You do the Grey Wardens proud, ser.
First Warden: Too many Wardens have died for that. (Coughs) You’re the real Warden.
5 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.He walks down to the archdemon and raises his sword.
First Warden: We mortals have a saying: “In War, Victory! In Peace, Vigilance! In Death, Sacrifice!”
First Warden: Stand down, Warden!
The First Warden stumbles down the steps.
First Warden: My war, my glory.
Dialogue options:
- Affable: Fair Enough. [1]
- Sarcastic: Believe me now? [2]
- Angry: You got people killed. [3]
- Grey Warden: We did it without you. [4]
1 - Affable: Fair Enough.
Rook: It’s all yours.
First Warden: At least you’ve got some honor in the end.
2 - Sarcastic: Believe me now?
Rook: I thought we’d have to do this all by ourselves.
First Warden: Watch and learn.
3 - Angry: You got people killed.
Rook: Wardens were killed on your watch. If you want to die to make up for that, be my guest.
First Warden: Wasn’t asking your permission.
4 - Grey Warden: We did it without you.
Rook: The Wardens will remember you as the leader who choked.
First Warden: Not when you’re all admiring my statue.
5 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.He walks down to the archdemon and raises his sword.
First Warden: As supreme authority of Weisshaupt, I hereby declare this Blight at an end!
He plunges the sword down, but is impaled mid-stroke, his sword flung aside as Ghilan’nain raises him into the air, strangling him.
First Warden: (Labored breaths)
Ghilan’nain: Racing heart. Ragged breaths. A waste of useful blood.
First Warden: (Anguished yell)
She drives her hand into his chest, pulling something out that she puts into the archdemon below.
Ghilan’nain: Lasa hedallin ghellara…
The archdemon rises, and she drops the First Warden.
Ghilan’nain: …fenathra mellas…*
They fight the archdemon Razikale.
- Bellara: What is that?
- Emmrich: What is it becoming?
- Harding: Uh, what’s that?
- Lucanis: What is that?
- Neve: What is that?
- Taash: What the crap is that?
Grey Warden Rook | Non-Grey Warden Rook |
---|---|
Rook: The real Archdemon! | Davrin: The real Archdemon! |
- Bellara: The other one was just a warm-up?
- Emmrich: The other form was only a shell?
- Harding: Was the other one not real?
- Lucanis: What was the other one?
- Neve: So the other was what? Practice?
- Taash: That’s not a dragon! What did she do to her dragon?
Davrin: We have to kill it! Ghilan’nain’s invulnerable until we do!
- Bellara: We’re not invulnerable!
- Emmrich: Unlike us!
- Harding: Why is it so complicated?
- Lucanis: It already died! It just got back up!
- Neve: And we’re sitting ducks!
- Taash: Kill it how?
Ghilan’nain: Witness! A Warden’s blood to birth your own destruction.
Ghilan’nain: Clever feints. Desperate plans. All for naught.
Rook defeats it, and it begins to withdraw.
Ghilan’nain: (Angry snarl) They take too much. Return!
- Bellara: This feels wrong!
- Emmrich: What’s going on?
- Harding: What’s happening?
- Lucanis: What now?
- Neve: What’s happening?
- Taash: What’s it doing?
Rook: We spooked Ghilan’nain. Maybe she wants to talk.
Above, Ghilan’nain begins to manipulate the blight.
Ghilan’nain: Essana ellath vallan.
Two heads emerge.
Ghilan’nain: Vallasan inall lasa!
Ghilan’nain: My creation has many shapes.
Ghilan’nain: Take the mortals. Make their flesh your own!
- Bellara: Not good not good not good!
- Emmrich: I’m afraid diplomacy failed!
- Harding: I don’t think she wants to talk!
- Lucanis: She didn’t want to talk, Rook!
- Neve: What? You’ve got to be kidding me!
- Taash: Come on! That’s vashedan!
Ghilan’nain: The power of flesh is limitless. New forms to be perfected. New appetites to be sated.
They start to whittle it down.
Rook: I think we’re wearing it down!
Davrin: Keep at it!
Ghilan’nain: Blood pulsing. Starved for flesh. She will consume you all!
Ghilan’nain: Return to me!
They withdraw again, and Rook continues to fight the darkspawn that have arrived around them.
They two heads return.
Ghilan’nain: Wounded. But hearts untouched.
Ghilan’nain: Avenge yourself!
Rook defeats the two heads.
Rook: That’s right! I think it’s time you left, Ghilan’nain! You can’t win this!
Ghilan’nain: (Angry snarl) They take too much. Return!
She does mote blight magic.
Ghilan’nain: Ilass san fenethan.
Three heads emerge.
Ghilan’nain: Grow full-blooded. Tear the mortals asunder!
- Bellara: That one looks really angry!
- Emmrich: We’ve angered one of them!
- Harding: Oh, we made it upset!
- Lucanis: We’re making it worse!
- Neve: Oh! Well, that one looks angry!
- Taash: That head’s angry!
Davrin: Who knew the trap would be the easy part?
Rook: It’s Ghilan’nain’s last stand! We can do this!
Ghilan’nain: Consume their flesh! Shatter their bones!
Ghilan’nain: Strike them down!
Ghilan’nain: Return to me!
The heads recede and darkspawn attack. Eventually, the heads return.
Ghilan’nain: You will die here. Quick or slow, there is no escape.
They get close to taking the heads down.

Davrin: We’ve almost got it! Be ready, Lucanis! I’ll kill the Archdemon, you take out Ghilan’nain!
Lucanis: I’m ready!
Rook: Davrin, we’re never gonna forget you.
Davrin: Just make it count! I can only die once!
The archdemon falls.
Rook: Davrin, kill it!
Davrin steps up to the head and stabs it repeatedly before looking around in shock.
Ghilan’nain: (Shrieks angrily)
Rook: Now Lucanis! Finish her!
Rook throws Lucanis the knife, and he dives in for the strike, but it glances off her face, leaving a large gash. She looks at the blood in horror.
Ghilan’nain: (Startled cry)
Rook: Let’s go!
The blight begins to rise around them.
Lucanis: Give me another shot!
Rook: Too late! Back to the eluvian!
They run as the blight continues to grow, heading towards where Holden waits with the eluvian.
Rook: Is it working?
Holden: I hope so!
Rook: Best odds all day!
They run in, and the room is consumed by the blight.
The Dangers of Competence
The party reconvenes at the Lighthouse, sitting around the table in the kitchen.
Harding: Evka sent word. Last of the civilians made it to Lavendel. Janos and his people held the line long enough for them to escape Weisshaupt. And the Wardens are in Lavendel, too.
Davrin: What’s left of them, you mean. Over a thousand… that’s how many fellow Wardens I had. And now… One god. One Archdemon. That’s all it took to nearly wipe out our entire Order.
Dialogue options:
1 - Stoic: They’ll do worse.
Rook: Weisshaupt is just the start. The worst—whatever that looks like—is still coming. Unless we stop them. That begins with finding and killing Ghilan’nain.
Davrin: How? We all saw what she did. That’s beyond…
2 - Sad: They died heroes.
Rook: Those Wardens fulfilled their oaths. They saved lives. Heroes, all of them. If not for them, how many civilians would have died?
Grey Warden Rook | Non-Grey Warden Rook: |
---|---|
Rook: In death, sacrifice. That’s what our oath says. We all took it. | Davrin: In death, sacrifice. The Warden’s oath.Rook: Right. |
Davrin: But it starts with ‘In war, victory.’ I don’t have much hope for victory here.
3 - Angry: We’ll make Ghilan’nain pay.
Rook: I promise you, Davrin. We’ll make Ghilan’nain pay. For every Warden she killed. Every child left alone. There will be a reckoning.
Davrin: How? We all saw what she did. That’s beyond…
4 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Bellara: We killed her Archdemon, though. That’s something, isn’t it?
Varric: That’s an incredibly rare accomplishment.
Taash: Yeah. After it turned into a snake-monster with too many heads! Are all blighted dragons gonna do that? I don’t know how to fight that!
Emmrich: Well, at least we’ve made Ghilan’nain mortal.
Davrin: Mortal or immortal doesn’t matter if we can’t get close enough. We had our shot at her. And we missed.
Lucanis: Say what you mean, Davrin. I missed.
Harding: Nobody blames you for that, Lucanis.
Davrin: Yeah? Maybe I do. This Crow has a demon inside him, right?
Harding: Now that’s not—
Davrin: How do we know we can trust him? Maybe the demon pulled his punches.
Bellara: Okay. Hold on. Now we’re getting—
Lucanis: And you, Warden? What about the blight that runs through your veins?
Saved Minrathous: Lucanis: The same blight that chokes my city.
Lucanis: The same blight that Ghilan’nain commands so effortlessly.
Emmrich: Just a moment, please—
Rook: Enough.
Dialogue options:
-
Affable: We’re a team.
Rook: We’re on the same side here, and for the same reasons. We all saw the terror these gods will bring, and chose to stand against it. This team needs to depend on each other, to unite against impossible odds. That’s the only hope we’ve got. -
Stoic: Pull yourselves together.
Rook: Stop arguing. We’ve got no chance if we turn on each other. Chaos helps the gods, and hurts this team. It will get us killed, one by one. So get it together. We need to figure out how to defeat them. [9] -
Sad: Honor the dead.
Rook: Hundreds of Wardens died today. They gave their lives to stand against the gods. We owe it to them to carry on. Swing your blades to the enemy, not each other. We will honor their sacrifices by holding together in this fight. -
Angry: We still have a job to do.
Rook: Last I checked, there are two gods out there. They’ve got plans, and we’re falling behind. And if it wasn’t clear enough after D’Meta’s Crossing, it’s clear now. They’ll rain disease and death across Thedas unless we stop them.
Emmrich: We’re all in agreement on that point, Rook. But the question remains—how? We barely survived against one of the gods.
Lucanis: I nearly had her.
Emmrich: Nearly.
Saved Minrathous | Saved Treviso |

Emmrich: But Spite is a creature of raw emotion. Your turmoil over what befell Treviso feeds him. Both of you vying for control… it’s no wonder you missed such a rare opportunity. | Emmrich: But you and Spite are not of one mind, Lucanis. Fighting for control… it’s no wonder you missed such a rare opportunity. |
Harding: I think we’ve all been distracted.
Emmrich: I’ve been preoccupied myself, after discovering that Hand of Glory…
Harding: And I can’t stop worrying about my new magic, and what it means.
Saved Minrathous | Saved Treviso |
---|---|
Neve: Or what the Venatori are up to in Dock Town. | Bellara: The Nadas Dirthalen. What it means for my people…Met Cyrian: |
Emmrich: Until those problems are resolved, we will not be prepared to face the gods. A moment of inattention—a single lapse—could prove fatal. And the gods will allow no second chances.
Varric: He’s right, Rook.
Dialogue options:
5 - We need to find the gods.
Rook: None of that matters if we can’t find the gods. That’s the first missing piece.
Bellara: They’ve been difficult to track so far.
Rook: Then we track the darkspawn. They have to come from somewhere, right? Harding, can you contact Evka? Ask her to get some scouts on the darkspawn. See where they go.
Harding: On it.
6 - There’s more to it.
Rook: We’re not in this fight alone, though. We have allies and friends in all sorts of places.
Bellara: Doesn’t do us much good if we can’t find the gods.
Rook: Harding, can you send word to Evka? See if she has any rested scouts?
Harding: Scouts? Why?
Rook: The darkspawn that attacked Weisshaupt had to come from somewhere. I bet they’ll be headed back there. Following them should at least put us on the gods’ trail.
Harding: Got it.
7 - You’re right, Emmrich.
Rook: We can’t afford to stumble. The gods will jump on that in a heartbeat. We must be ready for them. That said… we need to find them first. Harding, can you send word to Evka? See if she has any rested scouts?
Harding: Scouts? Why?
Rook: The darkspawn that attacked Weisshaupt had to come from somewhere. I bet they’ll be headed back there. Following them should at least put us on the gods’ trail.
Harding: Got it.
8 - Scene continues.

Davrin: Look. Nothing against Emmrich. He’s right about needing focus. But what happened at Weisshaupt… that was more than a distraction.
Saved Minrathous | Saved Treviso |
---|---|
Lucanis: So is what happened to Treviso. What the blight has done to the city… to its people… | Neve: So is what happened to Minrathous. What the Venatori have done… what they’re still doing… |
Lucanis: These are more than distractions, Rook.
Rook: Either way, we all need to step back. Clear our heads.
The companions leave, and Varric approaches Rook.
Varric: So. How do you think that went?
Dialogue options:
9 - As well as it could.
Rook: No one’s at each other’s throats, at least.
10 - Badly.
Rook: Davrin was still upset, there at the end. That’s his right, after the horrors at Weisshaupt… but I hoped I’d gotten through to him.
Varric: They stopped fighting when you told them to. That’s something.
11 - Hard to tell.
Rook: It’s not easy to tell with them, to be honest. They can be difficult to read. Some more than others, of course.
Varric: Yeah. I’m familiar with the type. I spent a year running around with Solas, remember?
12 - Scene continues.
Return to previous tree.Rook: Emmrich’s right, though. Everyone on this team has some kind of unfinished business hanging over their heads.
Varric: That’s the danger in recruiting competent people. They bring more interesting-and complicated-problems along with them. So go help, Rook. Support them. Solve those problems.
Varric: And maybe start with Davrin and Lucanis.
Saved Minrathous | Saved Treviso |
---|---|
Varric: With Treviso and Weisshaupt… they’ve got more in common than they did before. | Varric: Or even Neve. She’s taking Minrathous hard. |
Rook: And the gods?
Varric: You’ve asked the Wardens to track them through the darkspawn. That’ll take time.
Rook: I should use that time to check in with the team. And then… I should go talk with Solas.
Varric: Better you than me. He’ll want to know all about Ghilan’nain, the Archdemon, and why you only stopped one of them. You know, all this talking wears me out. I’m going to take a nap. See you later, kid. Good luck.
