Catching Up With Iron Bull

The PC enters the tavern and are greeted by Krem.

Krem: Your Worship! I’m glad you’re here. Listen, I need you to keep the chief distracted while we sneak this dragon skull through the room behind him.

Dialogue options:

  • Pleased: This should be good. [1]
  • Confused: What? [2]
  • Stoic: All right. [3]

1 - Pleased: This should be good. PC: I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes. Krem: It’s for his birthday. PC: I’ll see what I can do, Krem. [4]

2 - Confused: What? PC: Wait, what? Krem: It’s for his birthday. PC: Do Qunari even have birthdays? [4]

3 - Stoic: All right. PC: Got it. Krem: It’s for his birthday. PC: Didn’t ask, Krem. [4]

4 - Scene continues.

Krem: All right, here he comes. Just keep him talking. He loves talking.

Bull joins the PC at the bar.

Iron Bull: Hey, boss. Good to see you! Iron Bull (romanced): Kadan! Made time for a drink?

5 - Dialogue options:

  • Romance: So… Sex toys! [6]
  • History: Isn’t Orlesian history grand? [7]
  • Underworld: The Council may affect lyrium. [8]
  • Arcane: I haven’t seen a rift in ages. [9]
  • Politics: I just love Fereldan politics. [10]
  • Mage (knight-enchanter): I sure like Knight-Enchanting. [11]
  • Dwarf: You’re really tall. [12]
  • Rogue (tempest): You’d make a good Tempest. [13]
  • Warrior: Being a warrior is great. [14]
  • No: Okay, I give up. [15]

6 - Romance: So… Sex toys! PC: You know, I’ve been asking around about new equipment for… us. There’s a merchant in Val Royeaux who sells these silver rods with little cuffs that work like stocks. Iron Bull: I prefer rope work myself. Knots are easier to adjust—and more intimate. But if it’s stocks you want, you’re worth it. Maybe the merchant will throw in some clamps, too! [back to 5]

7 - History: Isn’t Orlesian history grand? PC: It’s fascinating to see the remnants of Ciriane culture here. Most of it was deliberately erased during Orlesian unification, under the reign of Maferath’s son Isorath. Iron Bull: Uh-huh. [back to 5]

8 - Underworld: The Council may affect lyrium. PC: Do you think news of the Exalted Council could affect the lyrium shipments from Orzammar? Iron Bull: Uh… maybe? [back to 5]

9 - Arcane: I haven’t seen a rift in ages. PC: It’s good to see that the Veil has largely healed, now that most of the major rifts are closed. You might think otherwise, but the Veil isn’t technically a physical barrier. It’s more like a magical vibration that repels the Fade. Iron Bull: Hm… [back to 5]

10 - Politics: I just love Fereldan politics. PC: Did you know that Ferelden has its own names for lords? The country is divided into teyrnirs, governed by teyrns. Inside those are cities and arlings, ruled by arls. And then there’s the Bannorn. It’s a large area of countryside, ruled by multiple banns. Iron Bull: Good to know. [back to 5]

11 - Mage (knight-enchanter): I sure like Knight-Enchanting. PC: Most mages hate the thick of battle, but I can’t imagine hanging back. It’s nice to get your hands dirty. Iron Bull: That’s why I like you, boss. You swing a sword. It’s a weird sword made out of magic, but still. [back to 5]

12 - Dwarf: You’re really tall. PC: I always forget how tall you are. Iron Bull: Right? Hello down there! (Laughs.) [back to 5]

13 - Rogue (tempest): You’d make a good Tempest. PC: You know, Bull, you almost fight like a Tempest. Do you ever want to just break a flask over yourself and kill things? Iron Bull: No. Well… no more than usual. [back to 5]

14 - Warrior: Being a warrior is great. PC: You know what, Bull? I really like hitting things. Iron Bull: I know, right? We have the best job! (Sighs happily.) [back to 5]

15 - No: Okay, I give up. PC: (Sighs.) I’m sorry, I can’t do this… Iron Bull: Sure you can! They must have that thing almost across the room by now, right? Iron Bull: Ben-Hassrath, remember? [16]

16 - Scene continues.

With each question asked, the Chargers move the skull further and further.

Krem: Surprise! Happy birthday, chief!

Krem and the Chargers gather behind them with the skull.

Iron Bull: Oh, you guys! You got me!

Bull gives the PC a knowing look.

Prompted Conversation

Krem is in a relationship with Maryden Iron Bull: So, you and the bard. You know most bards are spies, right? Krem: You [are/were] a spy, chief. Iron Bull: (Sighs.) Look, I just don’t want you to get… burned. Krem: Don’t say it… Iron Bull: Because then you’d be… Krem: (Sighs.) Iron Bull: Krem brûlée!

Bull is Tal-Vashoth, returned from the Deep Roads Iron Bull: Wish I hadn’t burned all my contacts with the Ben-Hassrath. Be nice to have some idea what they’re doing right now. Krem: Yeah, but then you’d be on their side, chief. Iron Bull: Yes, but I’d know things. I like knowing things.

Bull is Ben-Hassrath, returned from the Deep Roads Iron Bull: I’ve sent word to the Ben-Hassrath. We’ve got to stop this Dragon’s Breath before it goes any further. It can’t have been authorized. My people wouldn’t do this.

Romanced Iron Bull: Hey, kadan.

Iron Bull: Hey, boss.

1 - Dialogue options:

  • Investigate (Krem is in a relationship with Maryden): How is Maryden, Krem? [2]
  • Investigate (returned from the Deep Roads): Tell me about these Qunari. [3]
  • Flirt: You ever want to get married? [4]
  • General (Chargers survived): How are the Chargers? [5]
  • General (allied with the Qunari): How is our alliance? [6]
  • General: Goodbye. [7]

2 - Investigate: How is Maryden, Krem? PC: Krem, I understand you and Maryden are seeing each other? Krem: Uh, yes, Your Worship. I mean, we’ve just started, so… Iron Bull: Oh, come on. Get in there, show her what you can do! Krem: Listen, chief, there’s this thing you may not have learned, growing up Qunari and all…

Dialogue options:

  • General: Just what I needed to hear. [8]
  • General: We’re not talking about this. [9]
  • General (romanced): You really are. [10]
  • General (romanced): I don’t know about great. [11]
  • General (Bull is in Romance with Dorian): Let’s ask Dorian! [12]

8 - General: Just what I needed to hear. PC: That’s… good to know, Bull. ㅤㅤ ㅤ 9 - General: We’re not talking about this. PC: Could we not? ㅤㅤ ㅤ Romanced Iron Bull: Oh, sorry, kadan. I mostly meant with other people! PC: Not better, Bull. ㅤㅤ ㅤ 10 - General: You really are. PC: No complaints on my end. Iron Bull: See? ㅤㅤ ㅤ 11 - General: I don’t know about great. PC: Well… Iron Bull: That’s hurtful, kadan. ㅤㅤ ㅤ 12 - General: Let’s ask Dorian! PC: Maybe we should see what Dorian thinks. Iron Bull: We should absolutely see what Dorian thinks.

3 - Investigate: Tell me about these Qunari. PC: What can you tell me about the Qunari we’re dealing with? Iron Bull: These aren’t Ben-Hassrath. They’re specialists, working for a Viddasala. Ben-Hassrath handle normal security. The Viddasala’s people focus entirely on magic. They find it, they study it, they neutralize it. And they must be desperate if they’re using eluvians. I’d expect them to shatter any mirror they find. [back to 1]

4 - Flirt: You ever want to get married? PC: So, Bull, we’ve been together a few years now. You ever think of going… further? Iron Bull: I don’t see how we can top that night we did it with you hanging from the chandelier. PC: I, uh… that’s not really what I… Iron Bull: You’re my kadan. That’s a choice I make every day. I don’t need to be bound to it. But if you like the binding, then when this is over, we’ll make it official, however you like. [back to 1]

5 - General: How are the Chargers? PC: The Chargers have been with the Inquisition for a while now. Is everyone still happy? Krem: No complaints, Your Worship. The Inquisition’s been good to us. We’d disband and join the Inquisition officially, but the chief gets this sad-dog look when we suggest it. Iron Bull: The loyalty is touching, Krem. [back to 1]

6 - General: How is our alliance? PC: If you’ve lost touch with the Ben-Hassrath, what of our alliance? Iron Bull: Well, the last time I heard from them, we were great. You killed Corypheus, sealed the Breach, and closed a ton of rifts. They couldn’t ask for more. This whole operation has to be a mistake. Bring me with you, and we’ll figure it out. I promise. [back to 1]

7 - General: Goodbye. PC: I’ll talk to you later. Iron Bull: Any time, boss.
