Archivist

This dialogue is very buggy. I’ve only gotten it once on any of my various playthroughs.

Archivist: Ooh, Inquisitor! Greetings! I was recently appointed by Sister Leliana to keep her books in order. I’m so pleased to be here, helping out in my small way.

1 - Dialogue options:

  • Investigate: What exactly do you do? [2]
  • General: Glad to have you. [3]
  • General: The Inquisition is a team. [ 4]
  • General: Just stay out of trouble. [5]
  • [Say nothing.] [6]

2 - Investigate: What exactly do you do? What do you mean you’re keeping Leliana’s books in order? Archivist: The spymaster receives torrents of information each day. Unless it’s well organized, it’s useless. With me around, nothing will be lost or misplaced. Hopefully. [back to 1]

3 - General: Glad to have you. We are pleased to have you here. [ 6]

4 - General: The Inquisition is a team. I suppose everyone’s important. There’s me—the chosen one—also soldiers, diplomats, spies… Archivist: And now a librarian. Every little bit counts! [ 6]

5 - General: Just stay out of trouble. Just stay in the library and don’t interfere elsewhere, and we’ll be fine. Archivist: I wouldn’t dream of it. Out in the yard, they play with swords. [ 6]

6 - Scene continues.

Archivist: Well, I should get back to work.

Ambient Dialogue

Archivist: We’re supposed to have fifty-two copies of “Hard in Hightown.” And we’re missing all but four! Activates “Scattered in Skyhold” quest

(The wiki says that this requires the “Enhanced Studies” perk to trigger, but there are no such related flags in the files that I could find)

Post-HLtA Archivist: I set aside an entire shelf for Grey Warden lore and so far it’s not even half full. Those Wardens and their secrets.

Post-WEWH Archivist (Gaspard rules): The new emperor has allowed us access to his own private collection! I hear he has a copy of an obscene book penned about Divine Beatrix the Second. Isn’t that exciting? Archivist (Celene rules): The empress has gifted us with a selection of rare books. I can’t wait ’til they arrive!

  • Archivist: One day I’m going to read all these books. One day. When I have time.
  • Archivist: They are forty-seven ways to purify wyvern venom to make it safe for human consumption.
  • Archivist: Did you know that Seeker Cassandra’s ancestor lived for over a hundred and twenty years?
  • Archivist: Can’t talk! I found an inappropriately shelved tome this morning and I have to figure out how it got there! I hope the spymaster doesn’t have me flogged.
  • Archivist: The things they say about the spymaster? They scare me.
  • Archivist: Can’t talk, Inquisitor! Too much to do!
  • Archivist: So much lore. So much information.
  • Archivist: Look at all these books!

Bonny Sims

Bonny Sims: [Lord/Lady] Inquisitor. Bonny Sims, at your service. I trust good Seggrit was not too coarse? Now that you’ve come to some good fortune, you deserve an upgrade. As master of The Tradesmen, I stand ready to supply your every need.

1 - Dialogue options:

  • General: “The Tradesmen”? [2]
  • General: How is business? [3]
  • General (not all keeps claimed): How can I bring in commerce? [4]
  • General: Goodbye. [5]

2 - General: “The Tradesmen”? PC: Who or what are “The Tradesmen”?

First time asking Bonny Sims: A following of sympathetic and profit-minded individuals who promote local craftsmen and fair importers. A guild of sorts, although that implies Carta affiliations we are not interested in… crossing.

Bonny Sims (dwarf PC): No offence. Sincerely. We are merely organized merchants at your service. [6]

If asked before Bonny Sims: Our purpose in the Inquisition is legitimate and honorable. You will have what you need at honest prices. [6]

6 - Dialogue options:

  • General (Seggrit alive): Where is Seggrit? [7]
  • General (Seggrit died): Sorry about Seggrit dying. [8]
  • General: What can you do for me? [9]
  • General: You’re master of your group? [10]
  • General: Goodbye. [11]

7 - General: Where is Seggrit? PC: Seggrit survived Haven. Where is he? Bonny Sims: About. Doing good work for you and yours. But this position is now more desirable. It was time arrangements were made. I shall make every effort to prove that this is an upgrade. [back to 6] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 8 - General: Sorry about Seggrit dying. PC: It’s a shame Seggrit didn’t survive Haven. Bonny Sims: It is. But one must continue. PC: That’s it? Bonny Sims: He was a shrewd man, but he was none too pleasant. It was time arrangements were made. I shall make every effort to prove that this is an upgrade. [back to 6] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 9 - General: What can you do for me? PC: What do you bring to the Inquisition? Bonny Sims: What you need. And more. It takes great coordination to make a remote location seem… central. ㅤㅤ ㅤ Completed War Table: Opening the Roads Bonny Sims: Many now make the journey to Skyhold. We will ensure they continue to see the benefit. [back to 6] ㅤㅤ ㅤ Have not completed “Opening the Roads” Bonny Sims: While there is no doubt the boutiques of Val Royeaux display the grandest of the grand, they do not travel. At least, not yet. [back to 6] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 10 - General: You’re master of your group? PC: Why are you a mere merchant if you’re the master of this group? Bonny Sims: I wish to avoid the suggestion that I am a posturing commander atop a structure of malcontents. It is better to remain active. Hands on. Do you not agree, Inquisitor? [back to 6]

3 - General: How is business? PC: How are you doing? Good business?

Skyhold not repaired Bonny Sims: It is a struggle, but one worth having. Potential is the most valuable resource. [back to 1]

First set of repairs (leaving and returning to Skyhold) Bonny Sims: Building. Always building. Thanks to you. [back to 1]

Final set of repairs (completing HLtA or WEWH) Bonny Sims: In this gilded fortress? How could we not be? [back to 1]

4 - General: How can I bring in commerce? PC: Skyhold needs a healthy flow of goods. How can I help?

No keeps claimed Bonny Sims: Free the trade routes of obstruction, restore security to the outposts—the keeps—and merchants will find you. [back to 1]

One keep claimed One of the major hubs is freed. Continue on this path, and you’re on your way. [back to 1]

Two keeps claimed You’ve cleared two of the major hubs and restored trade to many. [back to 1]

5 - General: Goodbye. Inquisitor: We’ll speak another time. Bonny Sims: Certainly, [Lord/Lady] Inquisitor.

If spoken to after all keeps are claimed Bonny Sims: My [lord/lady] Inquisitor. How gratifying to see you. Your efforts to restore our hubs of commerce have been tremendous. As is the gratitude of The Tradesmen and affiliates.

Bonny Sims: An opportunity, Your Worship. If you’ve a moment, I would speak to you about a potential partnership.

Dialogue options:

  • General: You mentioned an opportunity?

PC: You said something about a partnership?

Bonny Sims: The work you’ve done has presented an opportunity to return trade to the roads. A minimal investment at key points will ensure safe caravans. I’ll forward it to your assistants for consideration. We have this opportunity because of you, Inquisitor. And we will all profit.

Activates War Table: Opening the Roads

Upon completion Bonny Sims: All manner of new friends are arriving now that you’ve opened us to merchants of the road. The influx of character is refreshing. I look forward to doing business with all of them.

If spoken to after completing Opening the Roads, HLtA, and WEWH, and unlocking the Short List perk Bonny Sims: A unique issue has arisen, Inquisitor. I pass it to you.

Activates War Table: Not So Bonny Sims

Upon completion Bonny Sims: Of course you resolved the issue, Inquisitor. Well done.

Cabot

Cabot: Inquisitor.

PC: And you are?

Cabot: The bartender, Cabot?

PC: Just “the bartender”?

Cabot: You were expecting…?

Dialogue options:

  • General (Flissa alive): Where’s my old bartender?
  • General (Flissa died): More pomp and circumstance?
  • General: Nothing. I guess.
  • General: Welcome to the Inquisition.

1 - General: Where’s my old bartender? PC: I was expecting the same face from Haven. Cabot: It’s not a hereditary profession. I think Flissa—what was it? She joined the Chantry? I don’t understand the type, but that’s her business. So. Sooooo. [8]

2 - General: More pomp and circumstance? PC: More gravitas? This is the Inquisition, after all.

3 - General: Nothing. I guess. PC: I don’t know. I suppose nothing. [5]

5 - Scene continues. ㅤㅤ ㅤ Cabot: (Sighs.) I am a bartender. Like my grandfather before me, and my father before him. A lineage destined to draw me hence. Is that better? ㅤㅤ ㅤ Dialogue options:

  • General: Kind of, yes. [6]
  • General: No need for theatrics. [ 7]

6 - General: Kind of, yes. PC: Actually? Yes, yes it is. Cabot: Of course. Refreshments await yon Kings of Destiny. [8] ㅤㅤ ㅤ 7 - General: No need for theatrics. PC: Fine, don’t make a big production out of it. Cabot: As ye will it. [8]

4 - General: Welcome to the Inquisition. PC: Well, welcome to the Inquisition. Cabot: Thank you. Welcome to the tavern. [8]

8 - Dialogue options:

  • General: Where did you train? [9]
  • General: How is morale? [10]
  • General: Know any rumors? [11]
  • General: Goodbye. [12]

9 - General: Where did you train? PC: Where did you study? I assume you’re trained. Cabot: In bartending? I’m no alchemist. You mix the bottles that don’t taste like nug, and you pretend to listen. I suppose I trained at home, during Feast Day family visits. My specialty is ale. Old Antivan recipe. The secret is ale.

Dialogue options:

  • Special: If you’re so jaded, why join?
  • [Back to 8]

11 - Special: If you’re so jaded, why join? PC: You’re a bit of a hard-ass. Why are you here? Cabot: If I could fight, I’d be in a helmet. If I was a mage, I’d throw fire. And probably be dead. But I can’t do anything. Just like the hundreds of people who can’t do anything, who make sure the thousands who can do something, can do it. Besides, if you know a safer place than your castle, do share. [back to 8]

10 - General: How is morale? PC: What’s the current mood?

  • Cabot: Scorn.
  • Cabot: Ennui.
  • Cabot: Turgid?
  • Cabot: Obsequious.
  • Cabot: Hope in the face of reality.
  • Cabot: Spirited enlightenment. Also: drunk.
  • Cabot: Unlikely.
  • Cabot: Willful.
  • Cabot: Spritely.
  • Cabot: Thick with three of the four humors. [Back to 8]

11 - General: Know any rumors? PC: What’s the word out there?

Flissa died Cabot: Flissa had a family. Word is: they’re sad.

Trainers arrived at Skyhold The trainers you brought in are unnerving some of the other customers. It’s kind of great.

Briala rules with Gaspard Briala is pulling strings in your favor. It’s going over as well as you’d expect.

Gaspard rules alone Gaspard sent wine. And beer. And trophy heads from some sort of… punching expedition.

Celene rules The servants of the empress sent us a crystal glass full of rose petals cradling a single golden pear. I mean, I assume.

Completed Before the Dawn/Under Her Skin Cabot: Don’t tell Corypheus, but learning about his servants has affected how people view him. I think negatively.

After What Pride Had Wrought Events at the temple of Mythal have the Chantry fretting. Fretting! Will no one think of them?

PC in active romance Cabot: A few complaining that you’ve time to bed your allies. I don’t judge. Much.

Romancing Sera Cabot: Word is… that I hope you and Sera didn’t do it on my bar.

Romancing Blackwall Cabot: The horses are spooked. Strange noises were heard in the loft. Things going bump in the night.

Had roof time with Sera Cabot: Thieves made off with our stores of cookie dough. Now it’s personal.

After Blackwall’s quest, made Warden Cabot: Opinion on keeping Blackwall is mixed. Like oil and water.

Dagna recruited Your arcanist has peculiar tastes and a long memory. Don’t let the giggling fool you.

Claimed the outposts in the Dales Cabot: They’re pouring in from the Dales. That’s good, I think?

General

  • Cabot: I hear the Arishok was replaced by the Arishok. But he’d better watch out. In the shadows, the Arishok.
  • Cabot: There’s a vigil for the dead later. I’ll be closed.
  • Cabot: They have heeded the call to power and are ready to raise arms at Chateau Crane du Gris.
  • Cabot: The admirals of the Felicisima Armada are disappointed the Inquisition is primarily inland.
  • Cabot: Seven people want your minstrel dead. They’d settle for smashing her lute, but they’re afraid she’d sing about it.
  • Cabot: Orlais wants war. Now talks. Now fashionable hats. Now they’ve seen something shiny
  • Cabot: Someone requested a dragon flagon. I threw him out.
  • Cabot: Heard someone spitting your name. Worked up a good one, too. (the plot flag for this is “bartender hate check”. Do with that what you will.)

All other dialogues exhausted Cabot: Quiet. Too quiet. No, wait. Just quiet enough.

[Back to 8]

12 - General: Goodbye. PC: As you were. Cabot: Inquisitor.

Elan Ve’mal

Elan: Inquisitor. Elan Ve’mal. Honored to represent the college of herbalists and offer my services as apothecary.

Adan died Elan: I intend to carry on the work of my esteemed colleague, Adan. He thought highly of you. He will be missed.

Adan alive Elan: My colleague Adan was clear about the worth of your cause. I look forward to assisting him.

Dialogue options:

  • General (Adan alive): Did we need a replacement? [1]
  • General (Adan died): His loss was unfortunate. [2]
  • General: He thought highly of me? [3]
  • General: Welcome aboard. [4]

1 - General: Did we need a replacement? PC: I wasn’t aware we had requested a replacement for him. Elan: Not a replacement. Assistance. With recent… escalations, he asked for help so he could spend his time gathering resources. Which means: the old tosser wanted some garden time. [5]

2 - General: His loss was unfortunate. PC: The enemy took a toll at Haven. It’s an unfortunate loss. Elan: He’d probably sneer at the sentiment and say “get back to work.” So we shall. [5]

3 - General: He thought highly of me? PC: He didn’t seem all that friendly toward me. Elan: A sign of his respect. Smiles are saved for fools so they leave quickly. [5]

4 - General: Welcome aboard. PC: I look forward to working with you. Elan: And I you. I wasn’t sure what to think of you people, but recent events have put those doubts to bed. [5]

5 - Scene continues.

Elan: All the mundane needs of Skyhold will be well tended. If you note anything special, let me know. I’m here to serve the cause we must.

The PC speaks to her again.

Elan: Inquisitor. Elan: Your Worship. Elan: I am at your service.

6 - Dialogue options:

  • Investigate: Where did you study? [7]
  • Investigate: How are we stocked? [8]
  • Investigate: Will your college help us? [9]
  • Investigate: You’re a city elf? [10]
  • General: Goodbye. [11]

7 - Investigate: Where did you study? PC: Where did you receive your training? Elan: I studied with Adan after he left the service of the King of Ferelden. Well, when the king was no longer there to serve. Our college of associates tends to meet informally. I’ve since been fortunate enough to serve various heads of state. They’re all as good as another, truth be told. My skills and contacts are better suited to more imminent need. [back to 6]

8 - Investigate: How are we stocked? PC: What is your evaluation of our supplies?

Skyhold not repaired Elan: Threadbare, but that will change. This place has, as they say, bones. [back to 6]

First set of repairs (leaving and returning to Skyhold) Elan: We are well supplied, and I foresee only better to come. [back to 6]

Final set of repairs (completing HLtA or WEWH) Elan: We are groaning with resources. A reflection of your competence and inspiration. [back to 6]

9 - Investigate: Will your college help us? PC: Are there others who could come to Skyhold? Elan: They are helping now. I have contacted many of our finest, and their influence is not inconsequential. They are not, shall we say, prone to take the field, but we will be well supplied. [back to 6]

10 - Investigate: You’re a city elf? PC: I take it you’re a city elf, not Dalish. Elan: It’s… not a useful identifier. I am an elf. I was raised away from the Dalish. No, I do not know their customs. [back to 6]

Elan (Dalish PC): I’m sure that much was immediately obvious. It’s of little concern. Elan (non-Dalish PC): Perhaps that wasn’t immediately obvious. It’s of little concern.

Elan: I have skill enough to be evaluated by what I can do. My associates appreciate my work. [back to 6]

11 - General: Goodbye. PC: As you were. Elan: Of course, Inquisitor.

After completing HLtA or WEWH Elan: There is a problem that needs your attention, Inquisitor.

Activates War Table: Harvest of History

Upon completion Elan: Good, Inquisitor. I am glad the issue has been resolved.

Farris the Representative

First time speaking: Farris: Inquisitor. You have come to the attention of the powerful, and I am the response. Messere Farris, at your service. You will find my wares… unique. I sell influence.

Speaking to again: Farris: Yes, Inquisitor? How will you choose to extend your reach today?

After making a purchase: Farris: Good choice, Inquisitor.

When leaving: Farris: Another time.

Gaoler

Gaoler: Your Worship! The cells are ready for the enemies of the Inquisition. Good facilities in Skyhold. Whoever built this knew how to keep prisoners secure.

Gaoler: No one to watch over, Your Worship. We either have many friends, or you’ve made short work of our enemies.

*Note: The rest of this dialogue is bugged and does not actually trigger in-game. I have included the related (bugged) war table mission regarding Skyhold’s cells.

The PC walks over to the nearby implements.

Gaoler: We don’t expect to use those. Once they’re here, cooperation is the only way out. If there is a way out, Your Worship.

Gaoler: We’re well supplied, Your Worship. Thank you.

If the Inquisition has some prisoners Gaoler: Our charges are well, Your Worship. If they were meant to be hurt, they wouldn’t have made it here.

If prison is full Gaoler: We’re bursting with prisoners, Your Worship. I’m investigating an exchange to lighten the burden. I’ll have a report for your advisors soon.

Triggers war table mission “Justice Overflowing

A formal request from the Gaoler:
ㅤㅤ ㅤ Simple matter. The cells are getting full. That comes with solid justice, and it needs to be dealt with. We’re safe, I’m sure of that, but the prisoners are going to get a bit cramped. Better if an exchange could be arranged with allies. Get some of those freeholders to hold some who aren’t free. They’ve got the land. Put it to use.
ㅤㅤ ㅤ Gaoler

Cullen Time and effort, but southern Ferelden is our best bet. I assume we will want a single structure to keep our interests focused.

Josephine I know a lord who often supplies this service. It will be inexpensive and fast, but I cannot promise the prisoners will have the same level of comfort.

Leliana The simplest and safest way to reduce their number is to scatter the unimportant to a dozen different cells in a dozen different territories.

A report from the jailer about prisoner relocation:
ㅤㅤ ㅤ Pressure’s off in the cells, Your Worship. We’ve kept the names and offloaded the rabble. Justice has space to stretch out.
ㅤㅤ ㅤ Gaoler

The PC returns to the prison.

Gaoler: Thank you for the resources to move some prisoners, Your Worship. Those remaining are… comfortably secure.

Gatsi Sturhald

Gatsi: Hello, Inquisitor. Honored to help with these… whatever they are.

First time speaking Gatsi: Honored, Inquisitor. Gatsi Sturhald. Did my part on the walls, and now I’m on this… strange collection you’ve brought us. Don’t know its worth to the fight, exactly, but it’s good workmanship.

Spoken before Gatsi: Stone-met, Inquisitor

1 - Dialogue options:

  • General: What are these tiles? [2]
  • General: What’s your experience? [3]
  • General: Can you interpret the meaning? [4]
  • General: Goodbye. [5]

2 - General: What are these tiles? PC: Any ideas about the origins of these reliefs? Gatsi: Tevinter. Early. It’s in the tool marks, the grain. That’s hard dust mined from the Hundred Pillars if I know anything. Oh, I suppose the scene is probably full of Tevinter robes, too. PC: The Hundred Pillars? Gatsi: Damnedest things. Massive spires that aren’t stone. It’s like a mortar. Don’t know more than that. Strong, though. [back to 1]

3 - General: What’s your experience? PC: Where did you learn your skills? Gatsi: Orzammar. Carved a few statues in my day.

Gatsi (dwarf PC): You know Paragon Branka? Carved her. And when she turned out sodding mad, I left. Gatsi (non-dwarf PC): And before you ask, yes, I chose to leave. I carved a Paragon who turned out to be a sodding madwoman.

Gatsi: Couldn’t stand looking at it. The “memory of a dwarf,” right? [back to 1]

4 - General: Can you interpret the meaning? PC: Do you have insight into the stories these tiles are supposed to depict?

Unfinished mosaics Gatsi: Tell you what: you finish one, and I’ll write it up. Who better, right? A good dwarven perspective. [back to 1]

After finishing a mosaic Gatsi: Here you go, Inquisitor. I wrote up some thoughts. Hope it adds to the effort. [back to 1]

5 - General: Goodbye. PC: Another time. Gatsi: Best of the vein, Inquisitor.

Ambient Dialogue

As the PC collects pieces

  • Gatsi: Another one, huh? Getting big.
  • Gatsi: Another piece, another picture. Nice work, whoever did it.
  • Gatsi: Where do you find these things? Like that’s the weird part.
  • Gatsi: Fine collection. Shame it’s not done.
  • Gatsi: Nice work, hmm? Or it will be.

As the PC completes the mosaics

  • Gatsi: Complete. Well, how about that?
  • Gatsi: Another completed work of… whatever they used to call them.
  • Gatsi: You find the strangest things, Inquisitor. Interesting all together, though.
  • Gatsi: You’ve gathered quite the collection. Wonder how many are in “the set.”
  • Gatsi: That’s the lot. Strange bit of kit for a fortress, but no one else has them. That’s for sure.

Harritt

Harritt: Good bones. Solid. Cold, but no weak spots. I can rebuild. Done it before. Too many times.

Harritt: I’ve walked away from too many burning buildings for one lifetime. This place, though. It’ll be all right. It’s “Inquisitor” now, isn’t it? That’ll take some getting used to.

Dialogue options:

  • General: Take the time you need. [1]
  • General: For you and me both. [2]
  • General: Do it quick. [3]

1 - General: Take the time you need. PC: Everyone needs time for this transition. Harritt: Time won’t help. Purpose does, and I got a load of it. [4]

2 - General: For you and me both. PC: You think it’s strange to say. It’s stranger to hear. Harritt: Don’t let it get to your head. We need you level. [4]

3 - General: Do it quick. PC: We don’t have time to dwell. Harritt: Don’t you worry. I know my job. [4]

4 - Scene continues.

Harritt: Everyone just got a big hard reason to hate Corypheus. And we already did, but we didn’t have a name.

Majority saved in Haven Harritt: You’re the surprise, not him.

Majority not saved in Haven Harritt: You did what you could, I suppose.

If the PC speaks to him again.

Majority saved in Haven

  • Harritt: Good to see you.
  • Harritt: What can I get you?
  • Harritt: Anything you need?

Majority not saved in Haven

  • Harritt: Yes?
  • Harritt: What do you want?
  • Harritt: Uh-huh?

5 - Dialogue options:

  • Special (helped him in get into the building in Haven): Bring anything from Haven? [6]
  • General (Did not save everyone in Haven): Any thoughts for the lost? [7]
  • General (Dagna recruited): What do you think of Dagna? [8]
  • Investigate: How are the new facilities? [9]
  • Investigate: Everything is functional? [10]
  • Goodbye.[11]

6 - Special: Bring anything from Haven? PC: We left in a hurry, but you got into your old place. Save anything? Harritt: Family hammer. It’s as stupid as it sounds. It’s good to be back at work. [back to 5]

7 - General: Any thoughts for the lost? PC: Have you any thoughts about the people we lost at Haven?

Majority not saved in Haven Harritt: Yes? PC: Care to share? Harritt: No. It hurts, and I don’t want to spit on your efforts. You saved who you could. We have to be happy with that. [back to 5]

Majority saved in Haven

  • Harritt: Shame about Adan. Experience like that, you can’t just find.
  • Harritt: Flissa… it’s so sad. Too young.
  • Harritt: Didn’t like Seggrit. Didn’t want him dead, though.
  • Harritt: Argued a lot with Threnn. I’ll miss that.
  • Harritt: You know I armed Lysette, head to foot? Glad she went out fighting.
  • Harritt: I never understood Minaeve. My fault, probably.

Harritt: The rest of us go on. It’s what we have to do. You gave us the chance. Thanks for that. [back to 5]

8 - General: What do you think of Dagna? PC: Any thoughts about our new tenant? Harritt: You sure she doesn’t own the place? Acts like it. Dagna: No offence! It needed work! Harritt: And fine work she’s done to it, and for you. Don’t mind me. Been a lot of change lately.

Harritt (HoF helped Dagna): Cheery as sugared flowers, she is. [back to 5] Harritt (HoF did not help Dagna): She has an edge, though. Mind it. [back to 5]

9 - Investigate: How are the new facilities? PC: How is this place shaping up as a forge? Harritt: Better than Haven ever could be. Not the way I wanted an upgrade, but ever forward. [back to 5]

10 - Investigate: Everything is functional? PC: You’ve got it all up and running? Harritt: Your basics, like always. There’s space here for… I don’t know what. This place was built for something big. It’ll be a job to fill it. [back to 5]

11 - Goodbye. PC: I’ll be back later. Harritt: I’ll be here.

Ambient Dialogue

  • Harritt: Where’s my hammer? Not that one. Or that.
  • Harritt: If I hear one more fuller called a “blood groove”…
  • Harritt: The pen is mightier, my arse.
  • Harritt: Served a lord who loaded his catapults with anvils. Point made.
  • Harritt: A nice simple blade. Can’t go wrong.
  • Harritt: Where’s my other ham… right there.
  • Harritt: This is where a smith should be.
  • Harritt: A forge like this, who needs the view?

Crafting Success

  • Harritt: A good job there.
  • Harritt: There you go. Glad to help.
  • Harritt: Fine work on that one.

Crafting fail

  • Harritt: Mm, nothing?
  • Harritt: Another time, then.

Helisma Derington

Helisma: Greetings to you, Inquisitor. I am to serve as assistant to any research concerns. You’ll find my skills are exceptional. I hope they prove useful.

1 - Dialogue options:

  • General: You’re a Tranquil? [2]
  • General: You replaced Minaeve? [3]
  • General: What are your abilities? [4]
  • General: How are your duties going? [5]
  • General: Goodbye. [6]

2 - General: You’re a Tranquil? PC: You were made Tranquil? Helisma: Yes, I am Tranquil. It was necessary due to a willful nature that made wielding magic a dangerous endeavor. I remember that being a difficult time, but I cannot remember why. My skills are well used in my current position. [back to 1]

3 - General: You replaced Minaeve? PC: You’re taking over the duties of Minaeve?

Minaeve alive Helisma: Yes. She said she was needed elsewhere, and that I should serve the Inquisition to the best of my ability. PC: What is she doing? Helisma: I wasn’t told. [back to 1]

Minaeve died Helisma: Yes. Her death provided the vacancy. I am told there are many who miss her. My skills will ensure that you do not miss her ability. [back to 1]

4 - General: What are your abilities? PC: How can you serve the Inquisition? Helisma: I am to aid in the research of all creatures encountered in your efforts as leader of the Inquisition. PC: What makes you particularly qualified? Helisma: I remember being fond of animals. I don’t remember why. [back to 1]

5 - General: How are your duties going? PC: What is your evaluation of how we’re doing?

Skyhold not repaired Helisma: Not optimal, given the facilities. Skyhold should be improved, or our efforts will continue to suffer. [back to 1]

First set of repairs (leaving and returning to Skyhold) Helisma: Adequate, based on the partial improvements to Skyhold. [back to 1]

Final set of repairs (completing HLtA or WEWH) Helisma: I am able to pursue my duties with optimal efficiency, thanks to Skyhold’s present state. [back to 1]

6 - General: Goodbye. PC: As you were. Helisma: Yes, Inquisitor.

After completing HLtA or WEWH Helisma: A request has been made of you, Inquisitor. Here it is.

Activates War Table: Her Predecessor’s Work

Upon completion Helisma: It is beneficial that you resolved the issue I presented, Inquisitor.

Maryden Halewell

Maryden: Inquisitor. A title hard to rhyme. A challenge for another day, I think. Forgive me my distractions, Eminence. I’m overwhelmed by you and what you’ve done. My name is Maryden. A humble bard.

Dialogue options:

  • General: How can you help? [2]
  • General: You’re a bard? [3]
  • General: Goodbye. [4]

2 - General: How can you help? PC: What do you bring to the Inquisition? Maryden: A simple thing that you know well. The power of a muse to rally hearts and minds. Inquisitor, I want to spread the word of what you’ve done. A small but vital role. Perhaps I’ll also make a coin or two. [back to 1]

3 - General: You’re a bard? PC: Are you a bard, likes those of Orlais? Maryden: Oh, Heavens no! I am a minstrel first. My weapon is a cutting tongue, not blades. I hope my skills will help in some small way, if only I can give your deeds their due. [back to 1]

4 - General: Goodbye. PC: Carry on, then. Maryden: Oh, I will do my best, Inquisitor.

As the PC leaves Maryden: I thank you for your time, Inquisitor.

If spoken to again

  • Maryden: Your Worship graces me with blessed eyes.
  • Maryden: The day finds you of well and sturdy health?
  • Maryden: I hope to serve the cause, Inquisitor?

Maryden: There is an issue that you should address. I think it’s worth your time, Inquisitor. Acquired War Table: Stop the Rumors

Upon completion Maryden: Of course you handled this, Inquisitor.

After completing Sutherland’s quest chain Maryden: Inquisitor, these youths of yours delight. A boon both on the field and for your name. And yet, I’ve tried to capture them in verse. To no avail it seems, but I forge on!

Ambient Dialogue

Maryden: From Haven’s fire come we the able true, to Skyhold now, a fortress strong and free. We rally with our hero born anew. Inquisitor, there’s none as brave as he/she.

Maryden: Our hero strode the winding road, defiant of the vile. Uncertain pause for home and cause, when met the monster’s smile. A man his kin through blood and sin, a bastard of the gloom. A rising cut through bone and gut, an awful skyward bloom. I think this one is simply not my style.

After HLtA Maryden: Wardens harm their own, and fall to mortal failings. Where does that leave us?

After WEWH Maryden: I wonder who knows pain astride the Game, it’s one who lacks a certain wherewithal. For he knows well a pain with paltry gain, the fool who dares to rhyme Halamshiral.

After WPHW Maryden: Wonder well what did befell our heroes wise and wondrous, the risks they took would earn no brook from villains dark and thunderous. For not undone but fairly won were victories and happenstance. And suffered all who held Mythal, deserving of their circumstance. Corypheus was failing thus, his weakness obvious to all. For faced with we, the fools must flee the blessed Inquisition’s call.

General

  • Maryden: Ah lahdeedah and something something else.
  • Maryden: It writes itself. At least it seems it should.
  • Maryden: A perfect start except… no, it needs work.
  • Maryden: I think that one is just me showing off.
  • Maryden: It’s not my style to simply start and simply stop.

Ser Morris

Morris: Oh! Oh bells, it’s you. (Ahem!) Morris. Ser Morris, I suppose. I am serving as quartermaster for Skyhold and its… arriving throngs. Stores are growing, and so long as we have fair coin to restock, you and yours will be well served. (Nervous cough.)

1 - Dialogue options:

  • General (Threnn alive): Where is quartermaster Threnn? [2]
  • General (Threnn died): You replaced Threnn? [3]
  • General: What are your qualifications? [4]
  • General: Are we well supplied? [5]
  • General: Goodbye. [6]

2 - General: Where is quartermaster Threnn? PC: The previous quartermaster survived Haven. Where is she? Morris: She… had views. Has views. Perfectly legitimate ones if you share them, Inquisitor. I believe it was felt that your quartermaster should be more palatable, now that the Inquisition is in Orlais. She continues to serve. Just not at the fore. (Nervous cough.) [back to 1]

3 - General: You replaced Threnn? PC: You’re the replacement for Threnn after she was lost at Haven? Morris: I’m sorry I didn’t meet her. I’m sure she was a stalwart defender of liberty. I confess, no one has been forthcoming with an opinion. I assume out of respect for her pious nature. [back to 1]

4 - General: What are your qualifications? PC: What makes you ideal for this position? It’s an important one. Morris: My family has ties to several freehold militias, as well as cousins acting as officers in Ferelden and Orlais. PC: And your qualifications? Morris: My family holds treaties with three new-money Tevinter houses, and a rare Orzammar contract with a Paragon namesake. PC: And your qualifications? Morris: To be honest, Your Worship, that was my question! I am the nexus of a dozen threads tied by others, designed to cast the widest and most appealing resource net. But! I will rise to the occasion. Skyhold will want for nothing! I swear it! (Nervous cough.) [back to 1]

5 - General: Are we well supplied? PC: How is it going? Do we have what we need?

Skyhold not repaired Morris: We have what we need, although there is only so much we can stuff into Skyhold in its current state. [back to 1]

First set of repairs (leaving and returning to Skyhold) Morris: Our capacity increases, as do our requests to suppliers. I’ve had to threaten some contracts. It was… exhilarating. [back to 1]

Final set of repairs (completing HLtA or WEWH) Morris: With Skyhold shining like a beacon? You name it, it’s here or on the way. I’ve wrung out the slackers, given them what for! I think—I think I like this job. [back to 1]

6 - General: Goodbye. PC: As you were. Morris: We are here for you, Inquisitor.

After HLtA, Hawke left in the Fade Morris: I was grieved by the loss of the Champion, Inquisitor. [Their] name was well respected. Except where it wasn’t, I suppose. Funny how effort inspires both.

After WEWH Morris: Oh, my Maker, you cannot imagine how many letters I’ve received about that fracas at Halamshiral! Fortunately, you tied twice as many threads as cut. Although it is yet bewildering at the center.

  • General: Halamshiral caused a stir?

PC: There are problems coming out of Halamshiral?

Morris: There are always problems from Halamshiral. We’ve lost a few contracts, but more than made up for it. Although if a few commendations were given, it might retie some severed threads. I couldn’t suggest how. That is better decided at your war table, and I am not going near that thing.

*Activates War Table: Negotiate a Deal for Weapon Plans

Upon completion Morris: You are wily, Your Worship. I’ve received word of your influence yet again. And the rewards. Take note of the effect in the stores. How you do it is beyond me.

Filling a requisition

  • Morris: We are honored to serve.
  • Morris: I hope it helps.
  • Morris: Consider it done.

Surgeon

Surgeon: Inquisitor? Is there something I can do for you? I should really focus my attention on the injured.

1 - Dialogue options:

  • Investigate: Are there many wounded? [2]
  • Investigate: Are you new here? [3]
  • Investigate: Don’t we have mages? [4]
  • General: Goodbye. [5]

2 - Investigate: Are there many wounded? PC: Do we have many injured men? Surgeon: Fewer by the day. The most grievously injured did not survive the journey to Skyhold. As for the rest, they either heal or… (Sighs.) I try to make the passing painless. [back to 1]

3 - Investigate: Are you new here? PC: I haven’t seen you before. Surgeon: The commander brought me up from the refugee camps. I’d been helping the pilgrims in simple ways. Setting broken bones, simple amputations and such. We need all the help we can get. [back to 1]

4 - Investigate: Don’t we have mages? PC: You aren’t a mage… shouldn’t we let the mage healers deal with this? Surgeon: Magic can’t cure everything, and we shouldn’t rely on it. Science, Your Worship, is the way of the future. Good health isn’t magic. It’s diet, exercise, and a balance of the humors. [back to 1]

5 - General: Goodbye. PC: As you were. Surgeon: Your Worship.

Ambient Dialogue

Blackwall recruited, personal quest not started Surgeon: I wonder what it is that gives Grey Wardens their legendary skill and stamina. I should like to study one. Would that fine fellow I’ve seen in your company consent to a careful examination?

Post-WEWH Surgeon: Have you heard of the new procedures coming out of Orlais? A hole drilled into the skull will cure most ailments! Imagine, not to be dependent on magic!

General

  • Surgeon: Hmm, somewhat off-color today, Inquisitor? An excess of bile, perhaps. Might I bleed you? Or offer an herbal tonic?
  • Surgeon: Try not to touch the leeches. They are quite delicate.
  • Surgeon: A word to the wise: when all else fails, amputate.
  • Surgeon: Ah, excuse the smells in the infirmary. Someone spilled their guts not an hour ago. Literally.
  • Surgeon: Come for a bloodletting?
  • Surgeon: Your visits do lift the spirits of the wounded, Inquisitor.

Conditional NPCs

Horsemaster Dennet

Dennet: Feels good to be back at work, Inquisition. And lucky you have me. Mountain air like this, not healthy for many animals. But I’ll make do with your little fortress.

1 - Dialogue options:

  • General: How are the horses? [2]
  • General: How’s the family? [3]
  • General (PC has not gotten nugs or dracolisks): Any news? [4]
  • General: Goodbye. [5]

2 - General: How are the horses? PC: How are your charges? Well supplied?

Skyhold not repaired Dennet: Not the environment for these numbers. Can’t stable an army in a mountain pass without supply lines. But we’ll make do.

First set of repairs (leaving and returning to Skyhold) Dennet: Surprisingly well. Not many could feed these people, let alone their mounts. Makes me wonder what you’re capable of.

Final set of repairs (completing HLtA or WEWH) Dennet: Over supplied. Never thought a mountain pass could seem like luxury.

[Back to 1]

3 - General: How’s the family? PC: Are your wife and daughter doing well? Dennet: Elaina’s minding the farms. Seanna’s still running her fool races. Wouldn’t be fair to drag them up here. I miss them, but someone has to save the world. [back to 1]

4 - General: Any news? PC: Heard anything worth noting? Dennet: Heard rumors of something stomping around out there. No idea how to track it, if “it” is even a real thing. Keep up with your researcher and your creatures, Inquisition. Who knows what you can find. [back to 1]

5 - General: Goodbye. PC: Farewell. Dennet: Maker be with you.

Mount comments

Bog Unicorn Dennet: Mind your… animal, Inquisition. That breed is temperamental enough.

Armored Horse Dennet: I’ve seen kings on lesser mounts than yours. Magnificent barding.

Dracolisk Dennet: Mind you keep hold of the reins, Inquisition. The dracolisk can be… skittish.

Nug Dennet: Damned if I’ve ever seen the like, Inquisition. That beast of yours is as stubborn as they come.

Red Hart Dennet: Pride of the stables, Inquisition. Never seen a finer mount.

Haven Survivors

Adan

Seggrit

Seggrit: You get a title, I get the boot. I see how it is. I mean, “thanks for my life, pleased to serve.”“

Seggrit: Inquisitor. Seggrit: No time. Working. Seggrit: Just doing my job.

Seggrit: Good enough to peddle my stuff on the road.

Seggrit: Nothing? Ugh. Seggrit: Thanks for that. Hope it helps.

Threnn

Warden Loghain Threnn: I went to Warden Loghain to give my respects. He knew me. Even remembered my name. Best commander this world will ever know.

Threnn: Thanks for my life in Haven. You’ve all sorts serving now. If that means change, so be it.

Threnn: Inquisitor. Threnn: Your Worship. Threnn: Watch that tit Morris.

Loranil

Loranil: Here to help, Inquisitor!

Ser Michel de Chevin

Michel: It’s good to know we’re doing something worthwhile.

Michel: Good day to you, Inquisitor.
