The Threat Remains
Cutscene: The Maker’s Plans
The PC walks up to Leliana, who is praying.
Leliana: ‘Blessed are the peacekeepers, the champions of the just. Blessed are the righteous, the lights in the shadow. In their blood the Maker’s will is written.’ Is that what you want from us? Blood? To die so that your will is done? Is death your only blessing?
She stands and turns to the PC.
Leliana: You speak for Andraste, no? What does the Maker’s prophet have to say about all of this? What’s His game?
1 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: Game? [2]
- General: I can’t speak for Andraste. [3]
- General: I’m as confused as you. [4]
- General: Bad things happen. [5]
2 - Investigate: Game?
PC: How is this a game?
Leliana: Do you see the sky? What about the temple ruins? The bones lying in the dust? Even if you didn’t support the Divine’s peace you wouldn’t call this right. Who could? So many innocent lives – the faithful murdered where the holiest of holies once stood. If the Maker willed this, what is it if not a game or a cruel joke?
[Back to 1]
3 - General: I can’t speak for Andraste.
PC: I speak for no one but myself, and I have no answers for you.
Leliana (human PC): Then we can only guess at what He wants.
Leliana (non-human PC): You probably don’t even worship the Maker. Lucky. He asks a lot. [6]
4 - General: I’m as confused as you.
PC: Don’t ask me! I’m as baffled as you are.
Leliana (human PC): Then we can only guess at what He wants.
Leliana (non-human PC): You probably don’t even worship the Maker. Lucky. He asks a lot. [6]
5 - General: Bad things happen.
PC: Awful things happen every day. Get used to it.
Leliana: Get used to being a pawn, to be discarded when the Maker’s done with you? [6]
6 - Scene continues.
Leliana: The Chantry teaches that the Maker abandoned us. He demands repentance for our sins. He demands it all. Our lives. Our deaths. Justinia gave Him everything she had, and He let her die!
Dialogue options:
- General: My sympathies. [7]
- Soften Leliana
- General: You could blame her killers. [8]
- General: People die. [9]
7 - General: My sympathies.
PC: I’m sorry. Her death has clearly hit you hard.
Leliana: Not just me. All of us. She was the Divine. She led the faithful. She was their heart! [10]
8 - General: You could blame her killers.
PC: Um, maybe you should be angry at the people who murdered her. [10]
9 - General: People die.
PC: People are killed all the time. [10]
10 - Scene continues.
Leliana: If the Maker doesn’t intervene to save the best of His servants, what good is He? I used to believe I was chosen, just as some say you are.
Worldstate dependent dialogue:
- HoF did not defile the ashes [11]
- HoF poisoned ashes [12]
11 - Warden did not defile the ashes:
Leliana: I thought I was fulfilling His purpose for me, working with the Divine, helping people. But now she’s dead. It was all for nothing. Serving the Maker meant nothing.
Dialogue Options:
- General: Let me help you. [13]
- General: Why are you telling me this? [14]
- General: These are your problems. [15]
**13 - General: Let me help you.
**PC: Maybe you have another purpose. I could help you find it.
Leliana: No, this is my burden. I regret that I even let you see me like this. It was a moment of weakness. It won’t happen again. Come. To work then. We will speak later. [23]
**14 - General: Why are you telling me this?
**PC: I’m not really the best person to talk to. Doesn’t the Chantry have people for this?
Leliana: (Laughs.) So, I should let a priest comfort me? No, this is my burden. I regret that I even let you see me like this. It was a moment of weakness. It won’t happen again. Come. To work then. We will speak later. [23]
**15 - General: These are your problems.
**PC: This has nothing to do with me.
Leliana: You’re right. I shouldn’t have let you see me like this. It was a moment of weakness. It won’t happen again. Come. To work then. We will speak later. [23]
12 - Warden poisoned ashes:
Leliana: Once, I was sure I died. I did die. Who else but the Maker could’ve resurrected me? But if he didn’t save me to help the Divine, then why? Why am I still alive?
Dialogue options:
- Investigate: You died? [16]
- General: The Inquisition. [17]
- General: Why are you telling me this? [18]
- General: These are your problems. [19]
16 - Investigate: You died?
PC: Wait, you died?
Leliana: It was right there at the temple by the Urn of Sacred Ashes. We found the urn, proved the legends were true. But the Hero of Ferelden corrupted them, and all I wanted at that moment was vengeance. It was a fight I couldn’t win, but I didn’t care. And the “hero” struck me down. I awoke later in agony. The ashes were gone. I can’t explain how I survived.
Dialogue options:
- General: That sounds like me. [20]
- General: That’s impossible. [21]
- General: There must be an explanation. [22]
20 - General: That sounds like me.
PC: So I’m not the only one that survived certain death here.
Leliana: There is magic in this place. Strange, old magic. Every mage I’ve put to work on it is mystified. They never find answers, only more questions. [23]21 - General: That’s impossible.
PC: You can’t have been raised from the dead. That’s… absolutely… just… no.
Leliana: Believe what you want. I’m still here. Ugh, enough wallowing. I should never have let you see me like this. Such weakness. Come. To work then. We will speak later. [23]22 - General: There must be an explanation.
PC: That’s it? You can’t explain it?
Leliana: You think I haven’t looked for answers? I’ve searched for 10 years. I’m still searching. This place holds its secrets tight. Do you know why you survived? Ugh, enough wallowing. I should never have let you see me like this. Such weakness. Come. To work then. We will speak later. [23]
17 - General: The Inquisition.
PC: The Inquisition needs you.
Leliana: The best answers are the simplest, aren’t they? Ugh, enough wallowing. I should never have let you see me like this. Such weakness. Come. To work then. We will speak later. [23]
18 - General: Why are you telling me this?
PC: I’m not really the best person to talk to. Doesn’t the Chantry have people for this?
Leliana: (Laughs.) So, I should let a priest comfort me? No, this is my burden. I regret that I even let you see me like this. It was a moment of weakness. It won’t happen again. Come. To work then. We will speak later. [23]
19 - General: These are your problems.
PC: This has nothing to do with me.
Leliana: You’re right. I shouldn’t have let you see me like this. It was a moment of weakness. It won’t happen again. Come. To work then. We will speak later. [23]
23 - Scene ends.
Champions of the Just/In Hushed Whispers
Cutscene: Dealing with a Traitor
The PC walks up to Leliana speaking with a scout.
Leliana: So it’s true. Butler has turned on us. I hoped my hunch was wrong.
Agent: You knew him well?
Leliana: Not as well as I thought. Show me the reports.
The PC leans against the pole of the tent.
Leliana: There were so many questions surrounding Farrier’s death. Did he think we wouldn’t notice?
Leliana: He’s killed Farrier. One of my best agents. And knows where the others are.
Leliana: You know what must be done. Make it clean. Painless, if you can. We were friends once.
Dialogue options:
- [Remain silent.] (Do not interfere at all.) [1]
- Do you have to kill him? (Stop Leliana from killing the traitor agent.) [2]
- Soften Leliana
- Traitors deserve to die. (Encourage Leliana to kill the traitor agent.) [3]
1 - [Remain silent.]
Scout: It will be done.
The scout leaves, and Leliana turns to the PC.
Leliana: (Sighs.) I’m sorry you had to see that.
Leliana: Trust me. Everything I do is to protect our interests. Now, if you’re happy, I have more work to do.
Scene ends.
2 - Do you have to kill him?
The PC stands up.
PC: Wait. What are you doing?
Leliana: He betrayed us. He murdered my agent.
PC: And you’d kill him? Just like that?
Leliana: You find fault with my decision?
Dialogue options:
- General: Killing isn’t the answer. [4]
- General: Just that one. [5]
- General: Killing him is a waste. [6]
4 - General: Killing isn’t the answer.
PC: We can’t solve our problems with murder.
Leliana: And what would you suggest? Leave him be? [7]
5 - General: Just that one.
PC: I’m sure most of your decisions are fine. But that one? A little extreme.
Leliana: Extreme? [7]
6 - General: Killing him is a waste.
PC: If he has knowledge, then he’s a resource. Use him.
Leliana: He’s a loose end that could escape and get word to our enemies. [7]
7 - Scene continues.
Leliana: Butler’s betrayal put our agents in danger. I condemn one man to save dozens. I may not like what I do, but it must be done. I cannot afford the luxury of ideals at a time like this.
Dialogue options.
- General: Ideals are crucial. [8]
- General: You should like what you do. [9]
- General: Find a better way. [10]
8 - General: Ideals are crucial.
PC: Now is precisely the time for ideals.
Leliana: You feel very strongly about this. (Sighs.) Very well. I will think of another way to deal with this man. [11]
**
9 - General: You should like what you do.**
PC: If you don’t like what you do, it’s a pretty good sign you’re doing something bad.
Leliana: That is certainly one way to put it. (Sighs.) Very well. I will think of another way to deal with this man. [11]
10 - General: Find a better way.
PC: I expected better from the Inquisition’s spymaster.
Leliana: You’ve made that point clear. [11]
11 - Scene continues.
Leliana addresses the scout.
Leliana: Apprehend Butler, but see that he lives.
The scout nods and leaves, and Leliana turns back to the PC.
Leliana: Now, if you’re happy, I have more work to do.
Scene ends.
3 - Traitors deserve to die.
PC: Glad to see traitors are dealt with quickly.
The scout nods and leaves, and Leliana turns to the PC.
Leliana: We must do whatever it takes to protect our interests. I am pleased that you agree.
Dialogue options:
- General: You care a great deal. [12]
- General: Opposing you seems foolish. [13]
- General: I just hate traitors. [14]
12 - General: You care a great deal.
PC: It’s good to know that protecting the Inquisition is a priority for you.
Leliana: Of course. I do not neglect my responsibilities. [15]
13 - General: Opposing you seems foolish.
PC: Of course I agree. Getting in your way apparently means I get killed.
Leliana: (Laughs.) As long as we both desire what is best for this organization, you are probably safe. [15]
14 - General: I just hate traitors.
PC: I have no tolerance for traitors.
Leliana: You take a harsh view, but I suppose that is the way in these troubled times. [15]
15 - Scene continues.
Leliana: We will make the Inquisition a force to fear. Now if you’re happy, I have more work to do.
Scene ends.
Things Worth Dying For
The PC approaches Leliana before deciding between mages and templars.
Leliana: Reports of Fade rifts and demons keep coming. The people are terrified, and it’s only getting worse. The only thing that will calm their fears now is the hope that someone out there will save them. You have to be that someone. No one else has any power over rifts. Seal them, your legend will spread, and Thedas will learn to trust the Inquisition.
Dialogue options:
- Investigate: Why do you care about mages?
Investigate: Why do you care about mages?
PC: Why do you want me to seek out the rebel mages? Why do you care?
Leliana (recruited in Origins… maybe? Not sure the trigger for this): I’ve known mages. Some of them were better people than me. And yet, I’m free, and they’re not. It’s not right.
Leliana (not recruited in Origins ???): No man should be caged for what he could become. It’s not right. Treat a man like an animal, and he will become one.
The PC speaks to Leliana again after choosing a side.
Choice dependent dialogue:
- Sided with templars [1]
- Conscripted mages [2]
- Allied mages [3]
1 - Sided with templars:
Leliana: The templars will be an asset to this Inquisition. It’s a shame we couldn’t also get the mages to our side.
Scene ends.
2 - Conscripted mages:
Leliana: I hear the mages will now answer to the Inquisition? And when you no longer need them? Will they be locked up and forgotten again? Most would treat their dogs with more kindness.
Dialogue options:
- General: The mages will not be harmed. [4]
- General: You don’t approve. [5]
- General: It had to be done. [6]
4 - General: The mages will not be harmed.
PC: I’ll make sure they’re protected.
Leliana: That’s what the Chantry used to say: “It is a mercy. They are protected.” Oh, how well they were protected. [10]
5 - General: You don’t approve.
PC: You don’t support my decision.
Leliana: The Circles don’t work. We’ve seen it. I wanted the Inquisition to find a better way. [10]
6 - General: It had to be done.
PC: It was necessary to keep Thedas safe.
Leliana: Just as the Circles kept them safe? The Chantry sees controlling the mages as the only solution. I hoped the Inquisition would be less… narrow-minded. [10]
3 - Allied mages:
Leliana: Your open support for the mages likely earned you enemies. Our agents will monitor the situation. If the most opposed can be identified, we may still turn this to our advantage.
Dialogue options:
- General: No killing. [7]
- General: Always looking to gain. [8]
- General: I’m not afraid. [9]
7 - General: No killing.
PC: You’re not planning assassinations, are you?
Leliana: I was planning to unleash Josephine on them. She kills with kindness. Regardless, I applaud you for the courage to stand up for the mages. [10]
8 - General: Always looking to gain.
PC: You’re always looking for some way to benefit, aren’t you?
Leliana: It’s what I’m here for. Regardless, I applaud you for the courage to stand up for the mages. [10]
9 - General: I’m not afraid.
PC: People can hate me if they wish.
Leliana: That gets us nowhere. The Inquisition is young. We need to build our support. Regardless, I applaud you for the courage to stand up for the mages. [10]
10 - Scene continues.
Dialogue options:
- Special: I watched you die for me.
Special: I watched you die for me.
PC: In Redcliffe, you sacrificed yourself so that I could return here.
Leliana: Of course I did. One small life in exchange for a second chance at history? I always loved a bargain.
Dialogue options:
- General: It was still noble. [11]
- General: That life was a lot worse. [12]
- General: I just care that it worked. [13]
11 - General: It was still noble.
PC: It was still a sacrifice and still noble.
Leliana (Warden poisoned ashes in DA:O ???): There are things worth dying for. I learned that a long time ago.
Leliana (Warden left ashes alone in DA:O ???): And I would do it again. [14]
12 - General: That life was a lot worse.
PC: You were condemned to a lightness dungeon. Not much of a life to sacrifice.
Leliana (HoF poisoned ashes ???): There are things worth dying for. I learned that a long time ago.
Leliana (HoF left ashes alone ???): And I would do it again. [14]
13 - General: I just care that it worked.
PC: Well it worked.
Leliana: If only everything were that simple. [14]
14 - Scene ends.
From the Ashes
Cutscene: I’m Sorry
Leliana and Cullen are in the aviary.
Leliana: I’m sorry.
Cullen: So am I.
The PC approaches and Cullen leaves
Choice dependent dialogue:
- Spoken to at Haven [1]
- Not spoken to before Skyhold [2]
1 - Spoken to at Haven:
Leliana: The names of those we lost. [6]
2 - Not spoken to before Skyhold:
Leliana: Inquisitor. I was not expecting a visit. You had little interest in speaking to me privately before. But, as dear Josephine says, it’s never too late to make a friend.
Dialogue options:
- General: Was I interrupting? [3]
- General: Friends are in short supply. [4]
- General: Why was Cullen here? [5]
3 - General: Was I interrupting?
PC: I hope I’m not disrupting anything.
Leliana: The commander was just delivering… the names of those we lost at Haven. [6]
4 - General: Friends are in short supply.
PC: Right, especially since we lost so many at Haven.
Leliana: You noticed my exchange with the commander. [6]
5 - General: Why was Cullen here?
PC: What was all that about?
Leliana: The commander was just delivering… the names of those we lost at Haven. [6]
6 - End choice dependent dialogue.
Leliana: You must blame me for this.
Dialogue options:
- General: I blame Corypheus. [7]
- General: Now that you mention it. [8]
- General: It was your fault. [9]
7 - General: I blame Corypheus.
PC: We all saw who attacked us. We know exactly who to blame. [10]
8 - General: Now that you mention it.
PC: I wasn’t going to bring it up, but why didn’t you see that attack coming?
Leliana: I didn’t know what I was looking for. The red templars are like nothing I’ve seen, and the Venatori hide their tracks well. [10]
9 - General: It was your fault.
PC: Those death are on your hands. It was your job to watch, to prepare us.
Leliana: Yes, it was my fault. But how was I to know what we really faced? The red templars are like nothing I’ve seen, and the Venatori hide their tracks well. [10]
10 - Scene continues.
Leliana walks to the window.
Leliana: I keep wondering if I could’ve done something different. When the first of my lookouts went missing, I pulled the rest back, awaiting more information. If they’d stayed in the field, they could’ve bought us more time.
Leliana sighs.
Leliana: I was afraid to lose my agents, and instead we lost Haven.
Dialogue options:
- General: You care for your men. [11]
- General: Or we could’ve lost both. [12]
- General: Learn from this. [13]
11 - General: You care for your men.
PC: You look out for your people. That’s a good thing.
Leliana: Is it? [14]
12 - General: Or we could’ve lost both.
PC: More likely, they would’ve stayed out there, died, and we would’ve lost Haven anyway.
Leliana: You don’t know that. Their lives could’ve bought Haven a small chance. [14]
13 - General: Learn from this.
PC: You will be prepared next time.
Leliana: I won’t let this happen again. [14]
14 - Scene continues.
Leliana: My people know their duty. They know the risks. They understand that the Inquisition may call upon them to give their lives.
Dialogue options:
- General: They’re soldiers. [15]
- General: Our men are not disposable. [16]
- Soften Leliana
15 - General: They’re soldiers.
PC: True. They’re our soldiers. They’ll do what we need them to.
Leliana: If Corypheus is cold, I must be colder. War demands sacrifices of us all. [17]
16 - General: Our men are not disposable.
PC: Our people aren’t tools to be used and discarded. Your instincts were right. Their lives matter.
Leliana: Can we afford such sentimentality? What if Corypheus—
PC: We are better than Corypheus. [17]
17 - Scene ends.
Here Lies the Abyss
Cutscene: Illusions
The PC finds Leliana at her desk.
Leliana: Inquisitor. I… I have been thinking. You remember everything now, yes? The explosion at Haven. The Fade. Escaping the Breach. In your report, you said Justinia was with you. But only you emerged in the end. Why? Why were you the only survivor?
Dialogue options:
- General: I tried to save her. [1]
- General: She saved me. [2]
- General: I had to save myself. [3]
1 - General: I tried to save her.
PC: Demons tore her from me. I couldn’t stop them.
Leliana: So you had no time to think. Only to act. [4]
2 - General: She saved me.
PC: he knew it was either her or me, and she wanted me to live.
Leliana: Of course. Of course she did. That’s just like her. [4]
3 - General: I had to save myself.
PC: It was her or me. I’m sorry.
Leliana: I… I see. Thank you for being honest with me, Inquisitor. [4]
4 - Scene continues.
Leliana: Her message to me: “I failed you too.” I’m not sure I understand what that means. Did she say anything else? Anything at all? Please, if you remember…
Dialogue options:
- General: I’m sorry, but no. [5]
- General: You don’t understand? [6]
- General: She’s dead. Why dwell? [7]
5 - General: I’m sorry, but no.
PC: I’m sorry, Leliana. That was it. [8]
6 - General: You don’t understand?
PC: Wait. You don’t know what she meant either? [8]
7 - General: She’s dead. Why dwell?
PC: It does you no good to dwell on her. She’s gone.
Leliana: It’s not for you to decide what is and isn’t good for me. [8]
8 - Scene continues.
Leliana walks over to the alter.
Leliana: There are no answers in the Fade. Only illusions. A warped mirror. Justinia has never failed me. I was her Left Hand. Now she is dead. I failed her.
Scene ends.
Conversation: Left In the Fade
Choice dependent dialogue:
- Alistair left in the Fade and Leliana recruited in Origins [1]
- Alistair not the Warden contact/not left in the Fade/Leliana not recruited in Origins [2]
1 - Alistair left in the Fade and Leliana recruited in Origins Leliana: There was no way to save Alistair, was there?
Dialogue options:
- General: I tried. [3]
- General: He might not be dead. [4]
- General: It was his choice. [5]
3 - General: I tried. PC: I didn’t want to leave him. I tried my best. Leliana: I know you did.
4 - General: He might not be dead. PC: We don’t know that he’s dead. Leliana: But lost in the Fade? As good as dead then.
5 - General: It was his choice. PC: Alistair gave his life willingly. Leliana: Yes, of course he did it willingly. That wonderful boy.
6 - Scene continues.
Leliana: We will toast to his memory.
Scene ends.
2 - Alistair not the Warden contact/not left in the Fade/Leliana not recruited in Origins Leliana: I didn’t get the chance to say so earlier, but welcome back to Skyhold. After that terrible journey through the Fade, it must feel good to stand on solid ground again, no?
Dialogue options:
- General: Yes, I’m glad. [7]
- General: It doesn’t feel different. [8]
- General: The Fade didn’t scare me. [9]
7 - General: Yes, I’m glad. PC: I’m thankful to be back. No one should enter the Fade physically. Leliana: And you’ve done it twice now. Shall I count you fortunate or unfortunate? Scene ends.
8 - General: It doesn’t feel different. PC: The ground in the Fade feels very much the same. It’s just more likely to disappear. Leliana: Well, you can breathe easy. I’ve not yet known the ground here to disappear. But I suppose nothing is certain these days. Scene ends.
9 - General: The Fade didn’t scare me. PC: Nothing in the Fade bothered me. Leliana: Oh? Well, I am glad for you, then. Scene ends.
Conversation: The Hero of Ferelden
After HLTA, if the Hero Of Ferelden is alive and Leliana was recruited in Origins
Choice dependent dialogue:
- HoF romanced Leliana [1]
- HoF did not romance Leliana [2]
1 - HoF romanced Leliana
Leliana: What we learned at Adamant concerns me. The Hero of Ferelden and I have been together for years. I nearly lost [them] to the Archdemon. [They are] looking for a way to stop the Calling from taking (her/him), as it does every Grey Warden. But if Corypheus has power over the Wardens, my love could be in danger.
3 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: Where [are they] now? [4]
- Investigate: What leads [do they] have? [5]
- Investigate: Were you two happy? [6]
- General: What do you suggest? [7]
4 - Investigate: Where [are they] now? PC: If you two are still together, why [aren’t they] here? Leliana: [Their] quest took [them] far to the west, to lands that have never known the Blight. But Justinia needed me here. I owed her that much. My love and I are never truly apart. When this is all over, I will join [them] again. And this time, nothing will come between us. [back to 3]
5 - Investigate: What leads [do they] have? PC: What makes [them] think [they] can stop the Calling? Leliana: It has been done before. Grand Enchanter Fiona was once a Warden, but something took all trace of the Calling from her. A Warden mage named Avernus also found a way to prolong his life with magic. It wasn’t much, but enough to start the hunt. [They] will find a way. I have faith in [them]. [back to 3]
6 - Investigate: Were you two happy? PC: Were the two of you happy together in the years after the Blight? Leliana: Happier than you could imagine. The only shadow over our love was knowing that one day, I would lose [them] to the Calling. [Their] quest is for me, as much as for [them]. [Their] knows how much I have lost. [back to 3]
7 - General: What do you suggest? PC: What would you like to do? Leliana: I do not know where the Hero of Ferelden is, precisely, but I know how to get a message to [them]. [They] may have information that helps the Inquisition. At worst, it will do no harm. I will draw up a plan in the war room. Thank you. Scene ends.
After receiving letter from the HoF Leliana: I received a note from the Hero of Ferelden. [They miss] me. I very much needed to know [they were] still out there, fighting to be with me. Thank you. It is a great relief, and I appreciate you allowing me to send the messenger. Now, can I help you with anything? Scene ends.
2 - HoF did not romance Leliana Leliana: I expected the Hero of Ferelden to be at Adamant, but [they were] not with the other Wardens. [They] studied the Blight after killing the Archdemon, and may know something that could help us. If you like, I can have agents look for [them].
Dialogue options:
- General: Good idea. [8]
- General: It couldn’t hurt. [9]
- General: It’s not a priority. [10]
8 - General: Good idea. PC: That sounds like a wise choice. Leliana: I’ll make preparations in the war room. Now, was there anything else? Scene ends.
9 - General: It couldn’t hurt. PC: I doubt it will make anything worse. Leliana: I’ll make preparations in the war room. Now, was there anything else? Scene ends.
10 - General: It’s not a priority. PC: Our main focus must be on Corypheus. Leliana: Understood. If you change your mind, I’ll have a plan ready in the war room. Scene ends.
Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts
Cutscene: Considering the Divine
The PC approaches Leliana in the rookery.
Leliana: So it’s true. Some look to Cassandra or even me as Justinia’s successor. I never thought the idea would gain momentum.
Leliana (softened): Of course, with the other candidates out of the picture…
Leliana (hardened): There is, after all, no shortage of vultures circling the Sunburst Throne.
Dialogue options:
General: But what do you want? [1] General: You’re their last resort. [2] General: The Divine seems useless. [3]
1- General: But what do you want? PC: Is becoming Divine something you really want? Leliana: When Justinia was alive, I would’ve laughed at anyone who even suggested that I could be her successor. Things have changed. Still, I don’t know. [4]
2 - General: You’re their last resort. PC: They must be desperate. Leliana: It’s much less flattering when you put it that way. If only being Divine were as simple as looking good in a large hat. Restoring the Chantry will be like trying to steer a sinking vessel through a storm. [4]
4 - Scene continues.
Leliana: Restoring the Chantry will be like trying to steer a sinking vessel through a storm.
Dialogue options:
- General: I will help if I can. [5]
- General: You could abandon ship. [6]
- General: Let the Chantry sink. [7]
5 - General: I will help if I can. PC: Whoever becomes Divine will have my support if she requires it. Leliana: And I’m sure whoever becomes Divine will absolutely require the Inquisition’s backing. The Chantry is faltering, but it still has influence over the people. Who tells the people what’s right? Who do they look to in times of peril? A Divine with enough support can change the Chantry, and with it, Thedas. [12]
6 - General: You could abandon ship. PC: No one would fault you for abandoning ship, you know. Leliana: Out of the ship, and straight into the sea. You think Thedas hates mages now? If the Chantry falls, don’t you think the people will blame magic? Look at all that’s happened: Kirkwall’s chantry, the war, the Breach. Mages are always involved. Without the Chantry to guide, that hatred will spiral out of control.[8]
7 - General: Let the Chantry sink. PC: If the Chantry is a sinking ship, I say let her sink.
Leliana (Dalish PC): The Chantry did terrible things to your people. I understand why you might hate it. But do you think ages of elven hatred will just disappear if the Chantry does?[8]
Leliana (mage PC): The Chantry has not been kind to mages. I don’t blame you for thinking as you do. You think Thedas hates mages now? If the Chantry falls, don’t you think the people will blame magic? Look at all that’s happened: Kirkwall’s chantry, the war, the Breach. Mages are always involved. [8]
Leliana: You may not think much of the Chantry, Inquisitor, but we need it. You think Thedas hates mages now? If the Chantry falls, don’t you think the people will blame magic? Look at all that’s happened: Kirkwall’s chantry, the war, the Breach. Mages are always involved. [8]
3 - General: The Divine seems useless. PC: Why does the Divine need a successor? Who cares if her throne is empty? Leliana: If there is no Divine, there is no Chantry. Perhaps that is your wish.
Leliana (Dalish PC): The Chantry did terrible things to your people. I understand why you might hate it. But do you think ages of elven hatred will just disappear if the Chantry does?[8]

8 - Scene continues.
Leliana: Without the Chantry to guide, that hatred will spiral out of control.
Dialogue options:
General: That would be bad. [9] General: So little faith in people. [10] General: The Chantry preached hate. [11]
9 - General: That would be bad. PC: No, we don’t want that. Leliana: And the Chantry can see that it doesn’t happen. The people are sheep, Inquisitor. They need to follow. [12]
10 - General: So little faith in people. PC: Wow, you really don’t think highly of Thedosians. Leliana: The people care only for simple things. Their world is small, and everything beyond it is unknown and something to fear. They will continue to live like this, unless they can be shown another way. [12]
11 - General: The Chantry preached hate. PC: It was the Chantry that taught people hate and fear. Leliana: If the Chantry led them to this place, it can lead them out of it. The people are sheep, Inquisitor. They need to follow. [12]
12 - Scene continues.
Leliana: But this is a discussion for later. If Corypheus wins, finding a new Divine will be the least of our problems.
End scene.
What Pride Had Wrought
Cutscene: Is It So Ridiculous
Leliana: I was pondering who might be Divine, and it suddenly occurred to me. Is it so ridiculous for the grand clerics to support me? Why shouldn’t they?
1 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: What would you do as Divine? [2]
- Underworld: They should and they will. [3]
- I’d support you. (Support Leliana as the new Divine.) [4] Divine: Leliana +1
- You shouldn’t be Divine. (do not support Leliana as Divine.) [5]
2 - Investigate: What would you do as Divine? PC: If you were Divine, what would you do? Leliana: Change things. Change everything.
Leliana (if allied mages): Your support of the mage rebellion was a good start. We must build on this.
Leliana: No more Circles. The mages will be free. The Chantry will accept them as the Maker’s children. In fact, it will accept everyone. Elves, dwarves, even Qunari. Why exclude them? The Chantry allows our differences to tear us apart, instead of teaching us how we are the same. [back to 1]
2 - Underworld: They should and they will. PC: I think all the grand clerics should support you. I’ll find a way to make that happen. Leliana: Your familiarity with the politics of the Chantry often astounds. I won’t say no to your support.
4 - General: I’d support you. PC: I think you would make a good Divine. Leliana: I am glad to hear it. Your support may persuade the grand clerics to vote in my favor.
5 - General: You shouldn’t be Divine. PC: I don’t support this. There are better candidates. Leliana: I see. Then I should be glad it’s not up to you. It’s time for change, Inquisitor. The grand clerics know that.

- Personal quest not completed [7]
- Personal quest completed, softened [8]
- Personal quest completed, hardened [9]
7 - Personal quest not completed Leliana: Justinia wanted to accept the Mages. Our treatment of them made the mess you had to clean up. But perhaps it is not just mages we must accept, but all people. A nice dream, no?
Dialogue options:
- General: It’s a noble goal. [10] Divine: Leliana +1
- General: A nice dream, yes. [11]
- General: Not according to the Chant. [12]
10 - General: It’s a noble goal. PC: It is certainly something worth working for. [13] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 11 - General: A nice dream, yes. PC: It is nice, but definitely a dream. Leliana: (Sighs.) You’re right, of course. [13] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 12 - General: Not according to the Chant. PC: That goes against the Chant of Light. It goes against Andraste’s teachings. Leliana: Andraste’s teachings have been used for ages to further the personal agendas of kings and clerics. [13] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 13 - Scene continues. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ Leliana: Ah, but what am I saying? Justinia couldn’t find enough support for reform. Why would I fare any better? Perhaps I should stop filling with my head such foolish notions and get back to work. Scene ends.
8 - Personal quest completed, softened Leliana: The Chantry was a beacon of hope to me once, you know. In my years at Lothering’s chantry, we turned no one away from our doors. It was a refuge, a place of peace. I felt the Maker’s presence and His love, even when they told me He’d left us. This is the Chantry I know, the Chantry I wish the world to see.
Dialogue options:
- General: The world needs that Chantry. [14] Divine: Leliana +1
- General: That’s not the Chantry I know. [15]
- General: Keep dreaming. [16]
14 - General: The world needs that Chantry. PC: The world could certainly use the force for good you describe. Leliana: Yes, the Chantry should be a force for good, instead of what it is. [17] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 15 - General: That’s not the Chantry I know. PC: The Chantry you describe is vastly different from the one I know. Leliana: But it could be this way, could it not? [17] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 16 - General: Keep dreaming. PC: That’s never going to happen. Leliana: Why couldn’t I change it? [17] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 17 - Scene continues. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ Leliana: The Chantry dictated where it should have inspired. It spoke of judgement instead of acceptance. It should encourage the good in everyone, rather than rebuke us for our sins. No one should be turned away from out doors. No one is without worth. Whoever you are, whatever your mistakes, you are loved. Unconditionally. “In your heart shall burn an unquestionable flame.” Scene ends.
9 - Personal quest completed, hardened Leliana: Justinia wanted the Chantry to grow, but her reforms never took root. She was held back by tradition and was too gentle to force change. I won’t make that mistake.
Dialogue options:
- General: You can’t force change. [18]
- General: Getting blown up didn’t help. [19]
- General: Why does change matter? [20] Divine: Leliana +1
18 - General: You can’t force change. PC: You can’t force people to change their minds. Leliana: Then how will change ever come? People do not simply happen upon enlightenment. Most must be carried there. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 19 - General: Getting blown up didn’t help. PC: You never know. Justinia might have succeeded, if she hadn’t been caught in a giant blast of magic. Leliana: I won’t make that mistake either. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 20 - General: Why does change matter? PC: I don’t see why you’d bother. Leliana: Because I owe it to Justinia. She started the work, and I will finish it. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 21 - Scene continues. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ Leliana: Justinia thought the Circles needed to change, by why stop there? The Chantry alienated potential allies by brutalizing elves and belittling dwarves. There are those who would cling to the old ways, of course, but they will see. I would make them see. Ah, but I’ve rambles on too long. I am not Divine. Yet. Scene ends.
Conversation: An Edge
Leliana: So if we kill Corypheus, he has the power to move from one tainted creature into another? What will we learn next? That he can command the sun to rise or the seas to burn?
Dialogue options:
- General: We’ll find a way to beat him. [1]
- General: Best prepare for it. [2]
- General: I wouldn’t be surprised. [3]
1 - General: We’ll find a way to beat him. PC: No matter how powerful he is, there’s a way to defeat him, and we’ll find it. Leliana: I hope you’re right. [4]
2 - General: Best prepare for it. PC: Can we prepare for flaming seas, maybe collect all the snow from the Frostbacks just in case? Leliana: (Sighs.) I’ll see what I can do. [4]
3 - General: I wouldn’t be surprised. PC: At this point, nothing he does will surprise me. [4]
4 - Scene continues.
Leliana: I have researchers scouring the Temple of Mythal as we speak. I hope that their search turns up something we can use. Ancient magic, perhaps. Something even Corypheus missed. Anything to give us an edge.
Post-game Conversation
Choice dependent dialogue:
- Cassandra Divine [1]
- Vivienne Divine [2]
- Leliana Divine [3]
1 - Cassandra Divine: Leliana: Cassandra is still trying to… adjust to her new title. In time, I’m sure she will settle in. Likely with luck and a steady supply of things to hit.
2 - Vivienne Divine: Leliana: A Divine mage! The people of Thedas will welcome her with open arms, I have no doubt. Despite what’s happened, my loyalty to the Inquisition has not wavered. My place is and always will be here.
3 - Leliana Divine: Leliana (softened): I’ve spent a long time wondering why the Maker returned to my life. Perhaps becoming Divine was my purpose all alone, to lead the world into a new era. Something kinder.
Leliana (hardened): I’ve been many things—bard, sister, Left Hand—and always because someone needed something from me. But I realize now that I am all these things, and yet not defined by any one. I am now Divine Victoria, but to my friends—to you—I will always be Leliana.
Dialogue options:
- General: We’ll miss you. [4]
- General: My army’s here if you need it. [5]
- General: Don’t forget who helped you. [6]
5 - General: We’ll miss you. PC: Skyhold will feel empty without you. Leliana: Val Royeaux is not so far away, and I can always use advice from the Herald of Andraste. [7]
5 - General: My army’s here if you need it. PC: Well, here’s me wishing you good luck and reminding you that I have a pretty big army… if you need it. Leliana: No. That was the old Chantry. Not to worry. I’ll be here for some time yet. There are still things to be put in order before I leave. [7]
6 - General: Don’t forget who helped you. PC: Don’t forget that it was the Inquisition that helped you onto that throne. Leliana: I will not forget. The alliance between Divine and Inquisitor will be what secures the Chantry’s future. [7]
7 - Scene continues.
Leliana: We will look back on this day and know that it marked the birth of a new Chantry. I have a plan, and I will not rest until it is made a reality. I may need your counsel in the coming days.
Dialogue options:
- General: I would be honored. [8]
- General: But I give terrible advice. [9]
- General: I’m still in charge. [10]
8 - General: I would be honored. PC: It would be my honor, Your Perfection. Leliana: Good, then it is settled. [11]
9 - General: But I give terrible advice. PC: Do you really want to rely on my counsel? I’ve been known to give pretty horrible advice. Leliana: Well, if I can’t rely on your advice, I would be glad for just your company. [11]
10 - General: I’m still in charge. PC: Good, you recognize that I’m the one still giving the orders. Leliana: I owe you the Sunburst Throne. I won’t forget that. [11]
11 - Dialogue options:
- Investigate: When will you leave us? [12]
- General: Goodbye. [13]
12 - Investigate: When will you leave us? PC: Are you still my spymaster? When will you need to leave? Leliana: The grand clerics would love to bury me in ceremony while they prepare for my coronation. But there is so much unfinished here. A new spymaster to appoint. And perhaps I’m not quite ready yet. When the time is right, I shall go to the Grand Cathedral for good. They can’t know what they’re in for. [back to 11]
13 - General: Goodbye. PC: I wish you all the best, Leliana. Scene ends.

Post-game greetings
- Leliana: Yes, Inquisitor?
- Leliana: What is your wish
- Leliana: I am here.
- Leliana: What can I do?
